  1. If this used to say gluten free on the box then it may be more than just the CC issue. Call the company and see if they have added barley malt to the flavoring before assuming that it is just a CYA issue. They don't have to put the barley malt in the ingredient list and can just hide it in 'natural flavors'.
  2. Do let them know your concerns but I agree that it is unlikely to be an issue. They will be monitoring his weight gain and losses on a daily basis and if he does not appear to be thriving on the formula then they will switch it.
  3. The symptoms you mention were one of the concerns for my DD. It scared me to death when she had gym the last period of the day. She would get into my car pale, excessively tired, trembling and with blue lips. It lead to them thinking at first that she had a bad heart and we got to do the holter monitor for a few days. It did turn out to be part of her...
  4. It is likely that the celiac was triggered by the surgery and your getting fillings at the same time may actually be of little consequence.
  5. Gosh yes. I eventually even developed arthritis that was well on it's way to destroying the joints in my hands. When glutened I often will have a recurrance of this pain in my bones and muscles although it will be short lived. Gluten can cause a lot of inflammation and it can also effect the nerve conduction. When nerve conduction is effected it can also...
  6. This is an excellent point, you would be surprised how many things we use everyday have gluten in the ingredients somewhere. The NIH database can be helpful all though not all inclusive.
  7. Boy does that list you gave hit home. Imagine feeling like that for more than 15 years with explosive constant daily D, balance issues and migraines thrown into the mix. Add those and you have most of my adult life. I understand that you feel like you are thought of as a hypochondriac. I certainly have been there as have many on this board. I do hope...
  8. There is an increased risk when we have not been diagnosed. One thing to help ease your mind a bit is that that risk drops for every year that you are gluten free. After I think it is 5 years with the gluten issues under control the risk is very close to the regular populations. They can biopsy the glands if needed to tell if lymphoma is present if the...
  9. CC is cross contamination. You run into it with processed foods that are made in the same facility as gluten foods. Another example would be if someone was cooking gluten and nongluten foods and using the same utensils. Mainly it is gluten in very small amounts. As for the skin biopsy if you have active lesions then if the biopsy is done properly the...
  10. Bakery on Main makes some really good granola type bars that come individually wrapped.
  11. Just because you don't find records doesn't mean something wasn't there. Especially when your talking about something like mental illness. Before the 'dawn' of the study of psychology many who suffered from depression were thought to be just lazy. Many with things like bipolar and other disorders were thought to be under the control of the devil or demons...
  12. Did they biopsy the lesions or the skin next to them? If they biopsied the lesions themselves then the results would always be negative. In addition to being gluten free I hope they told you to make sure all your toiletries and nonfood items are also. I had one of my worst outbreaks from doing drywall work while remodeling a storefront. I am also a...
  13. Sublingual B12 is going to help a great deal along with the vitamin D that was mentioned. Make sure the B12 is sublingual, until you heal your not going to be able to utilize it from a vitamin that dissolves in the stomach. Something I also found helpful was Royal Jelly from bees. It is loaded with the B vitamins and lots of other good stuff. If you are...
  14. You joined the board less than a month ago, are you still gluten free? Or are you bouncing from one hope of an overnight cure to another? I know the desire to find a resolution to serious health issues including depression and OCD. It can be all consuming. As many have said you most likely have multiple issues going on and you are unlikely to find a majic...
  15. Happy New Year to you to you also. Perhaps you could translate the phrase for us?
  16. Has your allergist done any testing to see what it is that you are reacting to? Has he tried guiding you through any kind of elimination diet to see if you can pinpoint what is causing the reaction? It is not unusual to have an allergic reaction show up to a drug you have taken safely all your life. I had the same thing happen with the same antibiotic...
  17. Did your doctor tell you to check all scripts, supplements, personal care products like shampoos and lotions? Do you consume gluten grain vinegars and alcohols? They are safe for many but not for all. Do you have a significant other who still consumes gluten or are you in a mixed household? Kissing someone who wears a gluten lipstick or has been eating...
  18. I am one of them. If you think you may have an issue always drop the item and then challenge when your feeling good and not taking other risks. I also react to distilled gluten grain vinegars so if you think you react to the whiskey be careful with those also.
  19. It can take a while for the antibodies to leave the skin but once you have been gluten-free for a time the lesions should be totally gone. My DH was bad and although it took a month or two for the lesions to heal after I went gluten-free the formation of new ones stopped within a couple of weeks. You may want to try some pure coco butter on the scars but...
  20. Well I guess I not only have an oddball celiac gene but an oddball blood type to go with it, AB.
  21. I am in agreement with the others. If an unplanned pregnancy is not something you desire then do use a barrier method just to be sure.
  22. I get the NOW products at my local health food store but if you don't have one near you they do sell over the internet. Here is a link to their home page- Open Original Shared Link
  23. There are lots that understand here. If your bloods were positive you do need the diet. Hopefully the doctor explained how easy it is to miss celiac changes in the biopsy process. Damage can be patchy and can be beyond the reach of an endoscope, you have 22 ft of small intestine, or the path that read the biopsy could have missed the changes that are seen...
  24. The Spam is safe here is a link to their gluten free lists and the section that contains the Spam. There is a lot more so be sure to check the link. Open Original Shared Link Shelf-Stable Foods Not Containing Gluten: Carapelli
  25. Even when a food item has components that are made outside the US they are required to follow the same regs as food make here if the foods are going to be sold here. As heavily processed as much of the food on our shelves are the likelyhood that some component, or the entire food, is made in another country is strong. If you are new to the diet the best...
