  1. Are you having other issues? For me this would be gluten related but it would not be the only symptom. It would be accompanied by joint and muscle pain, a migraine, DH breakout and tummy upset a few days later if it was gluten. Like the previous poster I also do get swollen hands in the hot weather but when that occurs I don't have any of the other issues...
  2. I experienced this also. I also don't know why. I had extremely low readings all my life and now they are in the normal range also. I don't know if it has anything to do with it but during an ultrasound on my heart a year or so ago they found evidence of past inflammation with thickening in the heart walls. Whether this healing was responsible for my...
  3. First ((((((((hugs)))))))) I know this has to be so frustrating for you. I don't know what kind of a shop you work in but perhaps a sign on the door forbiding food and drink would be helpful, and if that is not possible if someone else could clean up those crumbs that would help. If needed get some disposable powderless gloves to wear when on the computer...
  4. That's a good honest response but remember that some of us will react to gluten grains even if distilled. The first time you try it do it with caution and at a time when you are not taking any other gluten risks. Also be aware that those of us who do react will often become much more intoxicated than normal due to the brain impact so do take that into account...
  5. I don't know if this will be helpful or not but.... Do you use panty liners? If you do see if you can find one that is unscented. That may help especially if you are experiencing itchiness.
  6. I have to wonder what else was going on in this young lady. First thing to remember is that celiac is not an allergy it is an intolerance. It is not unusual to have a person who has a allergic reaction to something to have a strong allergic reaction when it is added back in. We do also see this with intolerances but it is a different reaction. Intolerance...
  7. Despite the fact that you blood test levels are showing fine your body may still not be able to utilize it. It can take a long time for the numbers in your blood to reflect this. Do not hesitate to get the sublingual B12, you do most likely need it and it will help with the fatigue. B12 is not a vitamin you can OD on, it is not toxic and also if you were...
  8. It does sound like it. Have you eliminated the toxin from all skin care and toiletries also? If not you should.
  9. At this point you have no celiac symptoms other than DH, that would be very likely to change under the stress of military training and service. With DH you have an 'automatic' diagnosis of celiac. The military is not going to be able to feed you gluten free and you really don't want to do 20 mile hikes with a 75 lb rucksack on your back and weekend manuvers...
  10. You need some time to heal. You may want to try something like cream of buckwheat or rice or a for sure marked gluten-free rice cereal with some fruit instead of something quite so high in seeds and nuts. Be gently to your system for a bit, cooked veggies and fruits, lower fat meats, mild spices, delete or limit dairy, and try not to add any new stuff for...
  11. Is this by any chance a 'freind' who does a lot of 'one upping'? Ring worm has nothing to do with celiac that I have ever seen or heard. I'd be tempted to check her cupboards looking for rice bread etc. or to get together with her husband to find out the real scoop. He may have been sick for a while and have had a positive blood test. It is possible...
  12. What if? That is a question I have tortured myself with for 6 years now. Mostly when glutened but it does still creep in at other times. Celiac had a serious neuro impact for me that started at about age 4. My grandfather said it best on one of our yearly visits he asked 'Where did my little sunshine go?' I would be almost 45 before that happy person...
  13. Depending on your codes you may also be able to get this stuff that is like a pink sheet material instead of drywall. They use it to wrap under siding on houses. That might work to seal in the foam insulation and as it is thinner it would take up less space. I also really love the look of the tongue and groove and you can get some real nice effects by painting...
  14. I agree, if you have positive blood work you have celiac, although negative blood work does not mean you don't have it, positive blood work is diagnostic.
  15. This is a good plan but eliminate for at least 2 weeks and when you add the cabbage back in make it JUST the cabbage. Nothing on it. Boil it or eat it raw but eat just that and no other suspect items with it at the meal. Otherwise you don't know if you are reacting to the cabbage or to the dressing or whatever it is in. That should be done with anything...
  16. That is going to be a toughy. Have you thought of taking a nice vacation while they do it? Seriously though, I would try writing down the manes of the compounds that are in the store and then check them on line. One place that will tell you if many are not safe is the NIH website. You can do a search of their database, it is not all conclusive but is a...
  17. I would agree with the others. I had a problem, for example, with nightshades for a while and it gave the same pain you describe. A really hot shower used to help a bit for me but dropping the nightshades really did the most good. After I was healed up, about 6 months, or so I was able to add them back in with no issues. That may or may not be the case...
  18. It is good that now you know. Your doc sounds like a pretty good one. The elimination she is having you do is a good idea. Not only will it help you perhaps pinpoint other intolerances but it will really speed you healing. I found it difficult and boring at first but the results in how I felt were unbelievable. Celiac can do a lot of weird stuff to the...
  19. It can take a while to heal and to ferret out all the gluten sources that can sneak in. For me stomach growling is directly connected to gluten. It will tell me loudly within a couple hours that I am in for a couple of rough days. My tummy growled so much since childhood that I stopped eating in the morning before I went to school in grammar school. Most...
  20. Sorry if it came across as 'sermonizing', but yes here in NY a restaurant can be cited if a health inspector comes in and finds folks handling ready to eat food with bare hands. They can also be cited for things like having cooked food on sheves under uncooked in the walk in, grease on the floor under the stove etc. I had one that came into my restaurant...
  21. I also was diagnosed with that and with osteoporosis a few years ago, prediagnosis, when I herniated a disk. I haven't had any issues at all since I went gluten-free. In my case a lot of my pain was due to inflammation from the celiac, once the inflammation was gone the pain went away. The only time I have problems with my discs now is if I do something...
  22. Have you added a sublingual gluten-free B12 to your supplement regime yet? That may give you some real relief from the exhaustion and may even help your appetite. Another thing that has helped me with appetite is Royal Jelly. I can't believe how much it stimulates my appetite. You might want to try it as long as you are not sensitive to bees. I do...
  23. You are going to start wearing gloves when you handle food! Where is your head chef or kitchen manager? You should have gloves on whenever you handle anything that is ready to eat, period. Foods that are hot should be handled with tongs or with another utensil. Food service employees should NEVER be touching food with their bare hands unless it is going...
  24. Independant of the SSRI and candida issue proper sleep is very important for all of us. In our society it can be hard to achieve. You said you have issues with sleeping due to light and noise from roommates and society around you. Have you ever tried using a sleep mask and ear plugs? Could that maybe give you the relief you need without any drugs?
