  1. It is a possiblity and it would not be on the label. I would call the folks that make the bands and not trust the anyone else to check. Also she is getting frequent adjustments right? I know my kids did but things may have changed. I would accompany her to her next visit if I could and take a look at any lotions they may have by the sink. I watched a...
  2. Pacific Natural Foods make a number of gluten-free SF CF broths. I haven't been able to find a DF SF gluten-free boullion but these broths make an okay substitute. Not quite the electric yellow of the boullions but a little tumeric added to the chicken colors it nicely if you like the golden yellow.
  3. We will be thinking of you. Let us know how things went when you can. Glad he is going to be able to see you.
  4. Celiac is not an allergy and the skin tests for allergies will not show it. It will show if you have an allergy but gluten intolerance is not an allergic reaction. It is an autoimmune reaction. There are blood tests for celiac but we do still see some false negatives even with the newer tests. Fecal antibody testing seems more reliable and can be ordered...
  5. Check it to be sure, the most common problem would be from barley and that need not be disclosed. Barley Malt is used in a lot of broths as a flavoring.
  6. It sounds like your computer is rejecting cookies from the site. Go into your tools and click on Internet Options and then on securtiy and see what your security setting is at. I know there is also a way to allow cookies from just one site but block others but I don't know if it is available on all computers.
  7. I have the gene for RA but was not 'officially' diagnosed because I did not show the RA factor in blood testing, of course I don't show up positive on celiac blood testing either. I had severe joint damage in my hands and damage to my knees, hips, etc. I could barely move before diagnosis. When I was diagnosed with celiac I was just happy to have the constant...
  8. 6 months, boy were you lucky. Many are like me, it took technically 40 years for me to get diagnosed, although I only had daily D for 15 YEARS of those 40. Unfortunately the mindset and informational level of the doctor mentioned is all to prevelant in our pharmacopic society.
  9. You say this has been going on for quite a while. Did it by any chance start after you had moved into a new home? You said you had spoken with a priest, could he possibly come and bless your house for you? Homes can absorb toxic energies from past residents but don't say it is because you think your are 'cursed' just see if he will do it. Another thing...
  10. Can your fish eat brine shrimp or something like that? I haven't found a gluten-free fish flake or pellet food yet. I have a small pond and brought in my koi and goldfish this year. I get the food that comes in a plastic jar that can be reclosed tightly. So far so good. I only have a bunch of smaller bowls so we use a dump and transfer but it sounds...
  11. One thing that may help prevent this is when they are done drawing and put the pad on hold it with your arm straight for a bit until it stops bleeding rather than bending it up. The last 2 years before diagnosis I regularly had to have 20 tubes drawn at a one time. I couldn't believe it the first time they lined up those tubes. Thank goodness Strong had...
  12. Welcome to the board. When in doubt do without until you are asymptomatic at least. There is a factor about sensitivity levels and they can vary from person to person. There are other things that might be able to help that are for sure gluten-free. Flax seeds come to mind, they can be ground and added to smoothies or baked in stuff or even just sprinkled...
  13. Please let us know how things go, I don't think anyone meant to be harsh. There are a number of people here, myself included who are worried about you. I hope the doctor has some answers on Monday. If he chides you for not getting in sooner explain the reason why and ask if this happens again if they can leave a number for you to call him back or even...
  14. The fact that your blood levels had gone down is a good thing. The fact that your follow up biopsy showed that you haven't progressed very far in healing makes me wonder if perhaps you are still getting small inadvertant amounts of gluten. I know you say you are really careful abuot CC but have you eliminated all non food sources, checked all meds (what...
  15. Possibly a bit simplistic but go out and try to help others, concentrate on problems within your community that you can do something about. Let someone else in front of you in a line, smile and say something like 'You must be having a really hard day' when a store clerk is rude to you, volunteer at a shelter or visit a nursing home. Be kind, be forgiving...
  16. I had a similar effect on one of the few times I have eaten out since I was diagnosed. I didn't notice bread crumbs in my water glass until I had consumed half of it. Turned out they store the glasses right beside the bread warmer at the waitress station. I had a very miserable week after that. All it takes is a really small amount of gluten, less...
  17. "Yes I am the one who doesn't have the genes, but I was diagnosed by my gastroenterologist. Enterolab just confirmed it for me. So yes, my allergist thinks that I have refractory sprue. No biopsys have been done since June when I was hospitalized. My allergist said that even though I don't have the genes, it really doesn't matter and refractory sprue is most...
  18. Excuse me, what did you mean by that statement? I am going to hope it was an incomplete thought and poorly worded and not the nastyness it comes across as. Would you care to clarify?
  19. Welcome to the board, you are celiac. There is a good chance once you get onto the diet the colitis will resolve. You are definately diagnosed no waffling there with the flattened villi. Be very cautious of any meds that you are prescribed and make sure you check them for gluten, even if they are meds for GI conditions it does not mean they are safe for...
  20. Well I have two children both biologically mine but with different biological fathers from opposite sides of the world. Both show up in blood work, I don't. They both got a celiac gene from their Dads also. This is really an extremely common genetic difference that does not follow the normal dominent - recessive pattern that other genes do. She sounds...
  21. Eriella, Frosting is pretty easy to make we did it all the time in the 'old' days. It is just powdered sugar with vanilla and milk slowly added in until it is smooth and creamy. Cream Cheese frosting is just the previous ingredients with cream cheese added before the milk . You should be able to find an actual recipe pretty easily. That said if those...
  22. I really hope you have seen the seen the doctor by now. As FF said if you haven't you can't expect this doctor to take you seriously. The fact that he called and asked to see you means that he has found something important. You may very well have something communicable, your symptoms do point to a number of things one of the being hepatitis, which is communicable...
  23. Oh yea lots and they started a long time before the GI stuff showed up. My GI problems were really episodic for many years before it became a daily constant race to the john. If you read my signature it tells a great deal.
  24. I will pray that they get to the bottom of this quickly. Sounds like you aren't the only celiac in the family.
  25. Just wanted to let you know your not alone. My DS and I are both very sensitive and many carmel colored sodas gluten us also. Repeatedly. So many have no problem with it that we kept trying figuring it must be something else. Nope it's the coke. Trust your body and your reactions, for me and my DS the DH blisters from these products make it really obvious...
