  1. Thanks for posting the links. I now use Wegmans brand nonlatex fabric bandages and no rashes are there when removed. I love Wegmans.
  2. Doctors need to look at all patients as if they have never seen a doctor before. They need to assess for themselves what the issues are with their patients and not think something a previous doctor labeled them with is gospel. They also need to understand that celiac is not just a GI disease. They need to understand that if a patient shows signs of depression...
  3. Thanks so much for all your kind replies. I think the letter idea is a good one. I wish I could mail her some dapsone but I would have to give myself an extreme glutening to get it. I have been gluten-free for 5 years and all those nasty antibodies have pretty much left so it now takes a whole lotta poison to give me more than a pinhead size lesion, YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY...
  4. It is a concern but please don't give away her kitty, we have to give up far to much. We use Innova Evo. It seems a bit pricey when first purchased but my kitties eat less of it and as an added benefit that the litter boxes are so much nicer to clean.
  5. ((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))) Seemed like you could use a great big one. I hope the holiday improves for you.
  6. Unless I am mistaken your Dad is a DQ7. This is the 3rd gene to be officially recognized as being a celiac gene. Your Dad's GI is either an idiot, misinformed or needs a new vacation home. Hopefully after your Dad gets sick as a dog a few times from those Friday night pizzas he will realize that perhaps his doctor does not know everything there is to know...
  7. As I was cutting up bread cubes for stuffing yesterday I got to doing a mental tally and realized that the stuffing cost more than the turkey did. Who da thought.
  8. Thanks all. Your right on the stubborness issue. She got it from me. I know that I can't even bring it up while she is home. That would ruin the whole holiday. She can't get anything with gluten here, I won't allow it through the door, but there are lots of dinners out with family. She can only stay a couple days so I really don't want to make waves...
  9. I do hope the diet helps a bit. One good place for info would be WebMD's message board. Post your questions under the digestive disorders section. Many of the folks there are very helpful. There are a lot of us who have dealt with gallbladder stuff and I am sure they will have some good info for you also. Take Care.
  10. My beautiful DD got home for the holidays yesterday. I was sooooo happy to see her. She has been off her diet since a year or so after she got to college when she went to a big wig doctor after being gluten-free for 2 years to get scoped and have her genes done. Of course since she was healed and we don't carry one of the 2 recognized celiac genes the...
  11. How long have you been on the gluten-free diet? Are you supplementing with B12 in the sublingual form? I had these issues for years and eventually progressed to losing bowel control also. I was also diagnosed with bulging disks. They were going to do surgery to repair 'damage' and sent me to a PT before the surgery. This was when I finally got diagnosed...
  12. "Do you take the Sublingual Vit B 12 everyday?" I think this was meant for me, and the answer is yes. I still take it daily and I push it like a dealer on every celiac family member, I check their supply regularly and refills just magically appear when and if needed.
  13. I am so glad your doctor finally figured out what the problem is. He should have referred you to a dietician, with all the diagnoses you have gotten they are going to be your best bet to get this under control. You should follow his prescription for your diet strictly, with no cheesies cheating Make sure that whatever food he and the nutritionist prescribe...
  14. That does make sense. Here's something else to throw into the mix. Since in the US many doctors are of the opinion that without the 2 celiac genes that have been 'discovered' you can not be celiac how many of the AE folks might really be celiac? I was pronounce to have many serious autoimmune disease that I was told I would have to just learn to live with...
  15. What a wonderful video. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Thanks for posting this. After reading this I personally will not touch this product. It is great that this now 'tests' at a level that the powers that be have decided to deem safe for us all. This also has allowed them to feel fine about taking the barley warning off the box and slapping a gluten free label on it. I do wish companies would let...
  17. Our family uses Nyquil.
  18. Your GI can not tell just by looking that everything is fine. I sure do hope he took lots of biopsies. No matter what that report states you need to do a dietary trial to see if it does away with problems that you are experiencing. Biopsies miss a lot of us and doctors here are reluctant to diagnose us till we are almost dead. Try the diet. You can start...
  19. What may be occuring is that your sensitivity level has gone up and the problem is becoming more obvious. Once we start to feel better it can make issues that were once kind of lumped into a ball with all our other misery seem more prominent. How careful are you about CC? Do you eat out frequently, have you eliminated it from toiletries and nonfood items...
  20. Hello Dr and welcome. I wish all dentists were as willing to learn as you seem to be. I have had 2 crowns and a porcelian facing sitting in my dresser because I can not find a dentist that will not poison me. In other countries dentists are one of the first medical professionals to suggest celiac disease be looked for in their patients, because of...
  21. Gluten reactions can also raise your blood sugar and it can have autoimmune impact on the pancreas just like it can impact almost any other organ we have. There are also a lot of celiacs who are diabetic or prediabetic. You probably have already had him evaluated for celiac but just in case you haven't I thought I should mention the need for him to be tested...
  22. You can continue to look for a neuro but the only thing that they can do is tell you to go into the diet. If they even recognize that you may be celiac. I went to lots of them for many long and debilitating years, had lots of unpleasent tests including electromylograms and spinal taps and still the best neuro in my area were clueless, because I don't show...
  23. I am so sorry. I have been thinking of you all a lot the last few days and will continue to pray for all of you that you will find some comfort and peace. It will be hard to comfort his parents. It is hard to know what to say or do but the most helpful thing I found during times of loss was when people just gave me a hug, told me how much they would...
  24. You got it, exactly what I was going to say.
