  1. Drop the oats. Many of us react to even gluten free oats. Drop them for a month or so and see if things improve.
  2. Welcome to the board. Your story is all to famiiar to many of us. If I remember correctly you can help with gluten-free foods in the UK if you have an 'official' diagnosis. I don't know how it works but if that is vital to you then do stay on gluten until all your testing is complete If you can ask to be put on a cancelation list for the biopsy. Then if...
  3. If you have been gluten free and your new GI thinks that won't affect the testing you have a doctor who does not know much about celiac. Also just because you don't feel ill right after eating a gluten item doesn't mean you are not reacting. Celiac reactions can be delayed so it sounds like your doctor is thinking more allergy with his 'muffin test'. If...
  4. Can you edit this to give reference ranges from the lab? Different labs use different ranges Also your lactose test appears to be a glucose tolerance test rather than a lactose test.
  5. Welcome to the board. It is very rare for there to be a false positive with blood work. False negatives are more common. The choice of whether to get the endo or not is your choice to make. Some people need that positive endo to stick to the diet but others don't. If you need that 'official' diagnosis for accomodations at work or school then you would need...
  6. Welcome to the board. If you are going to have testing done you need to get back on gluten today. You have to be eating gluten for any testing to be valid. Ask your doctor for a full celiac panel including a total IGA. Also have him test your vitamin and mineral levels to make sure you are not deficient. Your body may not like it when you add gluten back...
  7. Welcome to the board. I would suggest that you ask for a referral to a physical therapist. They can help a lot with your gait problems and the foot drop. You have only been gluten free for 9 months and it takes a long time for nerves to heal. You could still see a great deal of improvement so don't lose hope. Those of us with neuro issues can be very sensitive...
  8. If he doesn't normally have 'accidents' it may be his body is reacting to your switching to a gluten food. Gluten seemed to give me IC symptoms so maybe it can do the same sort of thing to a kitty. Kitties can also have accidents if they have something like bladder stones or an infection. Hopefully it was a one time thing but get him checked out if it continues...
  9. Larger grocery stores don't always have a choice about product placement. If a company, like Bob's Red Mill, makes both gluten and gluten free items the company will want (and at times pay) for the position they want on the shelves. The company will want all their items located in the same area for greater brand recognition. It is a pain for us to deal with...
  10. I agree that you need to address this with your doctor. If you are seeing undigested food that can be a sign of something serious if your seeing more than stuff like corn and nuts. Make sure you stress that with your doctor. You may just be slow to heal but something else unrelated could also be going on. Make sure they test your vitamin and mineral levels...
  11. Have to leave for work in a minute but yes it is possible to be celiac and not have DQ2 orDQ8. It is possible that the skin issue you are having is actually DH, the skin form of celiac. Unfortunately many derms are unfamiliar with DH and don't know that is what they need to be looking for in a biopsy. They also don't know that the biopsy needs to be done...
  12. Were any tests done to see if you actually need this med? Colon cleanses can be dangerous for us. Were you tested for celiac before your chiro suggested you go gluten free? Have you seen any improvement since dropping gluten? It can take time to heal and some of us have additional intolerances with the most common being dairy and soy.
  13. You can't survive off just ginger tea. If you are having that serious of a level of pain and you are in the US then go to the ER and tell them what is going on or go to the clinic as soon as it opens tomorrow. If you are unable to eat anything then that is a medical emergency.
  14. Low B12 can really mess with your nervous system and more. Hopefully the tablets you are taking are sublingual. Sublinguals are absorbed by the mucus membranes in your mouth and bypass a damaged gut. Hope you get some answers soon and once your celiac testing is finished be sure to give the diet a good strict try for a bit.
  15. It may have been what the coffee cups were sitting near. I got glutened recently by coffee but it wasn't the coffee or the cup itself it was that I was foolish enough to grab a cup from the stacks that were right next to a bunch of muffins, bagels and the toaster. I will be bringing my own beverage to work from now on.
  16. If you always eat the same things there may be something you are eating daily that your body doesn't like. Try dropping one thing at a time out of your diet for a couple weeks and then adding it back and watching for a reaction. This is where a food and symptom journal can be helpful. With intolerances the reactions can be delayed for up to a week so keeping...
  17. Did your doctor do any testing for celiac or do stool testing to make sure you didn't pick something up? If your doctor didn't at least run a celiac panel before telling you to try the gluten-free diet IMHO you need a new doctor. Celiac can come on suddenly when under severe stress, like looking for work, but I think most times it kind of sneaks up on us...
  18. Yea I am one of them. Haven't needed my Singulair or inhalor now in years.
  19. That combo could be a sign of heart problems or many other things. It could just be that you haven't healed enough yet from the celiac damage. If things should get worse do get to a doctor.
  20. If your shortness of breath is so bad that you have a hard time walking you need to be seen by a doctor to make sure nothing serious is going on. If there is no Urgent Care center near you go to the ER when the symptoms are active.
  21. Were you taking herbal type supplements? Some doctors might be referring to those and not to vitamin supplements. Some of them also have wheat and barley grass and say they are gluten free but we really won't tolerate them. I can't imagine a doctor telling someone not to take a regular vitamin and mineral tablet. You may be having celiac related nerve issues...
  22. Is she taking the name brand Xanax or a generic? I have PTSD and have taken the generic form of Xanax (alprazolam) for a while, when it is needed, because when my doctor prescribed it he checked and the name brand was not gluten free. It may not be the case for her but many doctors over prescribe the Xanax dosage. It I took the amount prescribed I would be...
  23. Good to hear your first day went pretty well. Tapering will only prolong your misery so glad to hear you have dropped that idea. You may find sublingual B12 to be helpful even if your doctor said your levels were fine. My neuro said my level at 255 was okay but he didn't know that the low level has recently been changed to 500. For me the sub B12 was helpful...
  24. If you have sick days or vacation time you can take you might consider doing so. If not take the advice above and try to rest as much as you can while going through the withdrawl. Remind yourself often that it is a temporary thing and that it will end. Be easy on yourself and let the dust bunnies wait or if you have family try to get them to pitch in on household...
  25. Please go to your regular doctor and ask for stool testing to make sure you didn't get some form of food poisoning. Could it be thyroid issues, I don't know. Hair will fall out with a lot of illnesses or stresses and IMHO you need to be evaluated by a medical doctor for not just thyroid but also food poisoning or other problems. It isn't always gluten and...
