  1. My DH got much better without deleting iodized salt when I first went gluten free. After a couple months I also dropped the iodized salt for a couple of months. Not everyone is going to have an issue with iodized salt and most do not have to eliminate foods that naturally have it. If you DH does not improve then go ahead and drop it but do add it back before...
  2. Yep, just like Kraft, Unilever, pharmacutical companies and so on and so on.
  3. While I have never had an issue with CC with Kraft products if you are leery of them then the answer is simple. Don't buy stuff from that company. I have been on this board for a long time and have never once seen a post about someone being CC'd by their products.
  4. Do you get any kind of allowance or spending money for vacations? If you do it might help to purchase some gluten free treats to bring with you. While you are not having severe reactions right now that could change at any time. And the worst time to find your reactions have gotten worse is while on vacation.
  5. If you look at the list that was posted earlier most of the Cheeto's fall under this heading: "The Frito-Lay products listed below do not contain wheat, rye, barley or oat ingredients (we include oats in this list as a precaution as oats are often commingled with gluten-containing grains). Please note however, some of the products listed below may be...
  6. You need to be eating more than chicken broth, nuts and fruit. Can you add some chicken meat and maybe some rice or potatoes along with some well cooked veggies? Also have you made certain that the broth is gluten free? Not all are. If you are going to get the endo you do need to keep eating gluten until that is done. If you are done testing then do give...
  7. Bet your feeling a lot better too.
  8. There are a few, and I do stress very few, of us who will react to distilled gluten grains. Perhaps that is the issue with the OP since he mentions problems with the sauces and such in his first post. I always call and ask the source of distilled vinegar since it is not required that the source be indentified.
  9. IMHO a week is too long to fast. The body needs protein to repair tissues and also fasting that long will put your body in starvation mode and you will start losing muscle. I fast frequently myself and would never fast more than a day or two at most. Someone who is still ill should consult with their doctor before beginning a fast.
  10. Many of us are lactose intolerant at diagnosos because of the damage to the villi. Others are casien intolerant in addition to the gluten. You could go with just hard cheeses and yogurt at first and see how it goes. Both are going to be lactose free or close to it naturally. Quite a few of us are intolerant to soy and it is in a lot of the specialty gluten...
  11. If you are done with testing for celiac then you may want to go ahead and give the diet a good strict try for at least a couple of months to see if it helps. It would be a good idea to go with whole foods and avoid both dairy and soy at first. Sorry you are feeling so badly and hope this resolves soon.
  12. As others have stated when you are challenging something you need to add that food in as pure a form as possible. For dairy you might want to start with a hard cheese like cheddar first as that is lactose free. If you tolerate that after a few days of eating it 2 to 3 times a day then move on to something like a small glass of milk to see if you are sensitive...
  13. Cooked are going to be easier to digest for a bit until you heal. I can't answer about the sprouts since I don't consume them but for a pill free enzyme boost I understand pineapple if you like contains some natural enzymes that will help with digestion.
  14. They come from a dedicated plant so I doubt they were contaminated. I think you may have just eaten too many or there is something other than gluten that you may be intolerant to. I used to think a lot of stuff was CC'd even from dedicated plants until I realized I can't tolerate soy or bean flours.
  15. And on clam cakes. There was a place a short distance from Newport RI that was just a little shack but had the best fried clams and clam cakes. Hadn't thought of those in years. Does anyone other than me dip fries in Mayo? Someone turned me on to those when I lived down south. I also never knew so many ate ketchup sandwiches, my twin used to eat those...
  16. You have gotten some great advice. If your doctor will not do the injectable B12 then go for the sublingual B12. You place it under your tongue and it is absorbed through the mucous membranes avoiding the damaged gut. Biotin is also helpful for hair and nails so you might want to add that to your supplements. Do as was mentioned make sure your shampoos...
  17. The best way to be gluten free is to eat mostly whole unprocessed foods. If you go to the home page here you will find list of ingredients to watch out for: https://www.celiac.com/ A couple companies that clearly label gluten ingredients are Kraft and Unilever in the US. Be sure to check all meds, both OTC and script, and supplements and read the full...
  18. After being gluten free or gluten light we cannot be tested for celiac without going back on gluten. If she was gluten free or gluten light before the blood tests then they would come out negative even if she is celiac. If she had enough damage and is getting cross contaminated enough she might still show damage on a biopsy but even folks on a full gluten...
  19. There are folks that do react to Amy's because of CC issues. If your new to the diet you should be going with more whole foods and less processed. Soy and dairy are also things that some of us have issues with. You may want to go with more whole foods and keep a symptom and food log. Reactions can be delayed so it is helpful in seeing a pattern. I hope...
  20. I think harvest time would be more of a risk because the seed heads would then be formed.
  21. I think you are wise to give the diet a good strict try now that celiac related testing is done. Do try to go with as much whole unprocessed food as you can and do make sure that the meds and supplements you are taking are gluten free. Things can be up and down for a bit when we first go gluten free but hopefully you will see some improvement soon. My arthritis...
  22. Yes elevated liver enzymes can be part of the impact of celiac. I was accused by more than one doctor of being an alcoholic even though most of the time when I did drink prediagnosis I drank NA beer. Do be sure to read as much here as you can and ask any questions you need to. Make sure you read all labels and are very careful in restaurants. If you can...
  23. I agree with eliminating gluten, casein (dairy) and soy for now. When I was diagnosed my allergist did skin testing for allergies and I showed reactions to 98 out of 99 items he tested for. He later said this was a real clue for him that I was celiac. As he said my immune system was in 'hyperdrive' due to the celiac and that many of my other allergies would...
  24. Hopefully your withdrawl won't be as bad this time. The fact that you went through withdrawl before when you went gluten free is very telling as far as your need to be gluten free goes. I hope you have an easier time this go around. It sounds like with myself your body is giving you the answer that the tests have not. Drink lots of water and eat as much...
