  1. As an adult I agree but as a kid or a teenager I dont feel its the same thing at all. As a parent you want your kids to enjoy life and to feel normal because being a "normal" teenager is still very hard to not feel different. Hormones are running amok and teenagers are very emotional. Fitting in and self esteem are big issues. Yes your mad at the other...
  2. Julie- Im sorry Kassandra- Hmm, I havent had a foul odor ever from them.
  3. With gluten it was mixed feelings, I was so happy to have the diarrhea and joint aches stop but I was angry at my husband complaining about things like the pizza having too much sauce from my favorite pizza place. It took a few months and a lot of good recipes to get fine with it. Two years out I dont miss it at all. Soy and Dairy are harder for me because...
  4. I like the sweetness but I have big sweet tooth! I would probably thin it down and blend it. If I get good ones I'll pm you.
  5. Paula- Weird thing, I just talked to my mom. She was at whole foods and couldn't find ricera. They told her that they wouldnt be carrying it since they didnt have a big enough demand. I love the probiotics in it too. My cost at our local health food store was $1.25 a yogurt also but with the 20% it turned out to be a really good price. I would also call a...
  6. You can buy it at whole foods but I just ordered from our local health food store since they give us 20% off if you order a case. A case of it is only 12 yogurts. They are like a gelatin consistency (rice being a very strong starch) and they use brown rice so its a tan color so it may not look exactly like its counterpart but it does taste very good. My daughter...
  7. Soy is commonly used for menopause since it lessens heat flashes by having natural phyto-estrogen properties. My mom has used it for years. Not to scare you just to inform you, but here's a few articles on soy. I still give my daughter soy occasionally since its very hard to find snack foods for her that are gluten, soy and dairy free but I do try and...
  8. Thanks I didnt know they had chewable, next time I will order those.
  9. If it were me I would do rice milk. Soy has a big potential for intolerance and soy emits estrogen hormones which is not good for your thyroid. We did rice milk too.
  10. Thanks Im delaying my surgery as long as I can in hopes I dont need it. Its been there already for a year and hasn't shrunk yet even with birth control pills. Its so large though that they are concerned about torsion. She has done some work on me before, my sister, and my mom. Uterine and ovarian problems run in our family. I have loads of scar tissue...
  11. Yeah! My daughter loves it and Im so glad its back since they changed the formula. For anyone who is not aware of it its a gluten free, casein free, soy free yogurt.
  12. My daughter gets this after she is glutened. I know its not diaper rash as she is potty trained and it spreads out more so then that part of her butt. Desitin overnight relief (40% zinc oxide) works and takes care of it in a few days. Im not sure why but it does.
  13. 1. She was glutened 3 times at family's houses till I started bringing all our own things. Answer #3 describes it better. 2. She gets a rash on her bottom with stinky poops and cranky so Im sure she gets a stomach ache. 3. At first no, now I only make her foods mostly from scratch so she hasn't been glutened for awhile. We also take our own dishes...
  14. We have recently discovered my 3 year old has a casein intolerance and I was concerned about her calcium needs since she refuses to drink rice milk and is going through her picky foods stage. My dr. recommended Kirkman Calcium Powder enriched with Vitamin D Dietary supplement powder (hypoallergenic). Adults can take it too. They told me for an adult dosage...
  15. Thanks Ravenwoodglass I think we are going to go the vasectomy route. I read this morning by doing that procedure it reduces his risk of cancer and a tubal increases mine. I have enough health problems as it is without possibly adding to the mix. I am already at an increased risk of ovarian cancer due to pcos. The reason why our family is done is my health...
  16. Thanks I'll have to check out whole foods since they should have them there.
  17. Its a joke isnt it? We are lucky in that our premium doesnt go up if we had more kids. Its a family rate when you have one child and stays the same even if you have 10 more. We are also lucky that our weekly premium is only $24 but Im still irked by their nutty rules.
  18. They wouldn't even cover a diaphram or the fitting of it. It would have come out to $250. It's crazy isn't it? I get charged $10 to go to an urgent care or the dr and I have no copay on emergency visits.
  19. I have horrible reactions to msg so it could be that. I also bloat badly to fats due to having gall bladder removal.
  20. Thanks so much everyone for your experiences with it. I know we are done with our family we just haven't decided on which way to end the fertility. I know that my insurance does not cover iud's and Im not sure of the expense of them. They do cover tubal ligation or a vasectomy. My husband is willing to do the vasectomy if I dont want to have a tubal. I haven...
  21. Here's a recipe posted from last year by another member- Gluten Free Sugar Cookies or Fruit Pizza Base 1 3/4 c. margarine 3/4 c. instant vanilla pudding mix (jello brand is what I use - made by Kraft) 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 4 c. featherlight mix (Bette Hagmans recipe) 1 3/4 tsp. xanthan gum 3/4 tsp. baking powder 1/3 tsp. salt ...
  22. Does anyone know a company that sells these? How did they do after stuffing them, did they fall apart? I want to try a potato stuffed mannicotti recipe. Thanks
  23. Has anyone else had this done? What was your experiences with it? I might be having an ovarian cyst removed in December and I have thought about having this done at the same time. Would you do it over again? Have you had any problems because of it? Thanks
  24. My period took about 9 months to come back after being gluten free. My sister's took about a year. I second the book "taking charge of your fertility". Its a very good read and very thorough. It helps to understand how your body works, it also talks about infertility and how to avoid pregnancy in the future.
