Glutenfreefamily replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
thanks for the reply My daughter told me late last night that my husband reached in and ate chips. Im sure he didnt wash his hands after eating gluten. It just makes me so mad for his total disregard for me and her and how we feel after we have eaten it. Im pissed honestly and I dont know if its my true feelings or if Im just ticked off because of a reaction my body is having. Me, my daughter, and husband were over at my mil's house. I bring our own food always. I dont allow any gluten in my household at all as me and my daughter both have strong reactions to it. To me it is no different than spreading rat... -
ARCHIVED Betty Crocker gluten-free Mixes
Glutenfreefamily replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We did ours dairy and egg free but used spectrum shortening instead of butter and added just a smidgen of water to compensate for the liquid. It took longer to cook, maybe 10 minutes more at 325 and it turned out perfectly. -

Glutenfreefamily replied to Ursa Major's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff

It took weeks for me to feel really good. Our whole family had it over Christmas two years ago. Im sorry you have been sick and Im glad your back on the mend. I would... -

The bigger cakes dont do as well unless I use the pads you wrap around the pans for more even cooking. missys mom- The strawberry puree does sound good, thanks for the idea. Yep unfortunately as cruel shoes states those have gluten in them. Before we went casein free I found it best to avoid the holiday shaped candies and stick with the originals. -

Cheri- I will post it tonight as I have to go start dinner. I think Namaste might have rice flour in it and I see rice is an allergy of your daughters, Im not positive it contains it though. Can she have flax? If so I have a recipe to use that as an egg replacer. I havent used it yet but I have heard it works great. To give more flavor to cakes I also...

We used to get colds very frequently but now its rare. We havent gotten even a single case of the sniffles even though we have spent time with other family members at family functions who are sick. I put us all on elderberry and echinacea tincture during cold and flu season. It also shortens cold and flu durations along with preventing them. Pubmed has some...

ARCHIVED Tough Choice's Setting Kitchen Rules!
Glutenfreefamily replied to larry mac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Personally I think you were perfectly in the right for not wanting loose flour in the house. Your mil could have made the chicken and dumplings in her house or used a gluten-free flour blend and made them from scratch. I dont see why she would want to make food that not everyone could eat. I have nieces and nephews who are very restricted with intolerances... -
