ARCHIVED Campbell's Bean With Bacon Soup
Glutenfreefamily replied to carriekate's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Do you have a soup kitchen you could donate it too? Another option might be a local church, quite a few around here donate foods to the local soup kitchens and accept canned and boxed foods. -

ARCHIVED Messy Non-celiac Babies/toddlers
Glutenfreefamily replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
finally diagnosed- Its so hard to know which way to go sometimes with the conflicting information we receive. I developed a big distrust for dr's through this unfortunately and just now I'm trusting them a little more but I still always check on it myself. Thank goodness for the internet as I would not have any clue about gluten at all without it. Honestly... -
ARCHIVED Messy Non-celiac Babies/toddlers
Glutenfreefamily replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
finally diagnosed- I would look into what the nutritionist stated to you. From what I have read gluten is 70% protein (which could be easily found in many other foods) and 30% water. From what I understand there are no vitamins or minerals derived from gluten itself. Unfortunately me and my daughter both are very sensitive to it in regards to symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Husband Wants Tilapia
Glutenfreefamily posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I did find a recipe which sounded good with sour cream bread crumbs and italian seasonings but Im hoping to do it dairy free so our daughter can eat it too. My husband is kinda picky and doesnt like lemon pepper fish so any alternative is much appreciated. Thanks -
ARCHIVED Looking For A Good Breadstick Recipe...
Glutenfreefamily replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I dont have a recipe but all of our family love these. I defrost kinnikinnick hot dog buns and slice them in half lengthwise. Cover them with butter/margarine and garlic powder or garlic salt. If you eat dairy there is a spread that tastes good on it too but the name is slipping me right now, if your interested in it I can ask my mom as she uses it regularly... -

Glutenfreefamily replied to carriekate's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The last I knew of bean and bacon from Canada is gluten free but the United States one is not. I plan on picking up some cans on our next trip to Canada for my Husband since its one of his favorite soups. -
ARCHIVED Nasty, Horrible Headache -- Help!
Glutenfreefamily replied to Sailing Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would call your dr. My dr prescribes imitrex or sometimes darvocet for migraines. I have yet to take either since my headaches only usually last a day or two and caffeine usually helps. -
ARCHIVED What Do You Do When You Realize You Are Eating Something Bad?
Glutenfreefamily replied to colorado's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
In the very beginning I did a few times like offthegrid said I would figure well since I have been glutened Im going to enjoy it instead of getting sick off stupid cross contamination and eat a krispy kreme or an arbys sandwich but it only made it much worse and my joint aches lasted for days. Now when I get glutened which thankfully isnt too common I... -
ARCHIVED Messy Non-celiac Babies/toddlers
Glutenfreefamily replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When it was just me gluten free in our household yes I did glutened quite frequently. Now my daughter shows symptoms and my husband does and they are on a gluten free diet also which makes it easier around our house but harder for my 3 year old when we are visiting and at parties at other houses but I'm hoping it will be normal for her and she will get accustomed... -
ARCHIVED Fell Off The Wagon
Glutenfreefamily replied to pnltbox27's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The only kinds I know of are sugar free red bull and regular red bull. I buy the regular kind because Im not big on artificial sweeteners as they have kind of an aftertaste to me. Flavor wise I wouldnt say its "good" but that may be just me. I consider it ok and just drink it for the benefits for me not the flavor. I cant drink it warm but really cold is... -
ARCHIVED Skin Rash Or Food Allergies?
Glutenfreefamily replied to Guhlia's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It very easily could be a food allergy, my daughter gets rashes in warm areas on her body when she has gluten ( really bad) and a mild one from dairy. Also Im not sure if its just the lighting on the picture or just that time it was taken but I see the rosy cheeks on Annika. My daughter had rosy cheeks and when we took away dairy it went away. I thought... -
I love the k-too's so does my gluten eating inlaws. I made an oreo sundae for them. Crushed oreos (1 1/2 packages) with 1/2 cup butter melted mixed and spread on a 13 by 9. Then vanilla softened ice cream, then 1 1/2 jars of smucker's hot fudge sauce on top of that, cool whip on top of that and the last of the oreos crushed sprinkled on top. They loved...

ARCHIVED Fell Off The Wagon
Glutenfreefamily replied to pnltbox27's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
mamaw- It is as ehrin said loaded with caffeine and b vitamins. I drink a can or two if I get glutened and sometimes just for a migraine tonic or if Im exhausted and just have too much to do. Its a great once in a while pick me up. I keep it ice cold because if its warm I have a hard time drinking it. I pick mine up by the case at sams club and its more... -

Glutenfreefamily replied to pnltbox27's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes new symptoms can be common. My daughter has more symptoms since going gluten free when she is accidentally glutened. Get some red bull to hopefully help with the headaches and they also help me with being tired and get back on the wagon Take care and I hope you had a good holiday too -
ARCHIVED My Husband Just Doesn't Understand
Glutenfreefamily replied to kali-mist's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Julie, Im sorry your post had to become like this. I dont have much advice in regards to this. When my daughter became ill I didnt give my husband a choice and thankfully he didnt want us to be at risk for getting contaminated anyways. I hope your husband understands more of what your going through and takes it more into consideration of what your going through... -

ARCHIVED Wow, My Husband Is Gluten Intolerant Too!
Glutenfreefamily replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks so much everyone for the responses. Everything has been smoothed out now and he is ok with it. I do think it was anger and denial stage. Yesterday at the new years eve party we went to he asked me to pack him a gluten free meal and snacks along with me and our daughter. It was really nice to have his support since usually he eats gluten at those functions... -
ARCHIVED Wow, My Husband Is Gluten Intolerant Too!
Glutenfreefamily replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Rachelle My husband was never tested but I know my daughter has a double gene for celiac so the possibility is there for him since she had to get 1 gene from him. Im also looking at gluten not being beneficial for anyone with just so much potential for causing problems down the line. I dont plan on changing having gluten in the house. When it was... -
