I hope you're right. Well... if this don't beat all... The boys and I were in the city this afternoon shopping and got in a car accident- yes-we're-all-fine! Actually, my big old beat-up Blazer only got a little dent. The other car (a little new-model VW bug) came out of it quite a bit worse. Picture a paper mache car that somebody punched.... -

Don't worry, I will! In fact, I'm going to keep him naked as much as possible, just so if anything starts, I can catch it fast. Awesome news on the tutoring gig! Yeah we do. Lately, I've been worrying that it's not going to let up, that he's going to turn into that kid from As Good As It Gets. Plus a thousand other worries like, how am I... -

Thanks for asking about Ez, you guys! Last night was HEINOUS. Called the doc this morning and they wanted me to bring him right in. Not surprised with his record. Anyway, he has strep throat AND and ear infection. Good grief. Ok, so the antibiotic she put him on has a 10% cross reactivity with some of the other meds he's allergic to, so we have... -

Uggggghhhhhhh... 3:15am here... Ezra's been up all night with a fever... 102.5 and I have no idea what's wrong with him, except that he feels like crap. And tomorrow (today???) is Luke's first ever school play. Not quite sure how I'm going to manage this. And coming up to post 1,000 soon. -

I get diarrhea when I travel. Haven't done any traveling since being gluten-free though, maybe that's improved. -

Ohh, Ursa that sounds miserable!!! Sounds like when I got the Norwalk virus a few years ago... I was pregnant at the time, too ugh. Lucas was a toddler and he got it too. Utterly awful! I'm glad you did have some good times on your trip, though! Give yourself some time to recuperate-- some of those viruses reeeeally take a toll!

I'll add my vote to the Gluten Free Pantry brownie mixes. They are soooo good! Too good. Actually, I agree about the Van's Waffles too. -

Judy, I did! Couldn't resist. Maybe I can get outside for awhile tomorrow. Probably just what I need to snap myself out of this funk I'm in. That's all it is, is a funk. It's been raining for a week solid. We needed it, BADLY, but too many rainy days, and I really start to get down. I can't help it. It cleared up this evening though... -

YAY on a gardening thread! I do veggies and a few flowers. I had intended to start tomatoes and peppers from seed, but too sick and never got around to it. It's a bit late to start them now here (NC, zone 7) Bah. Will buy some plants, as they'll be ready to put in the ground in just a couple more weeks. Missed our time to plant onion sets, too, darn... -

Well, one thing I can tell you is that Luke and Ezra have had a combined total of something 15 ear infections, and they NEVER acted like their ear hurt at all until the last one that Ezra had-- he woke up one morning crying, and then it turned into screaming. This was just a few months ago! Ugh, it was awful. I was shocked that that one hurt so much, when... -

Amanda, I'm betting on an ear infection. That fever is too high to be from teething, and it usually doesn't cause enough pain for as much crying and screaming as poor Landen is doing. Ear infections on the other hand, can be hideously painful. I would take him to the dr. first thing in the morning. Poor Jen! If her boss doesn't care about employees'... -
ARCHIVED "accurate" Allergen Statements! Not
Ridgewalker replied to Franceen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I notice that they specify "no wheat GLUTEN," and "no soy PROTEIN." I wonder if this means they acknowledge the possibility that the product contains the starches of those items? I don't trust wheat starch ever. I wouldn't trust that product! -
ARCHIVED I Think My Son Has Celiac
Ridgewalker replied to B'sgirl's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am very familiar with those "sandy" diapers you're talking about. Thick, pasty, and just like it had sand it in-- where DOES that stuff come from??? And the diaper rashes... my younger son frequently got open sores. It was horrible. I think you are right to try him on a gluten-free diet. For the trial period to be valid, it needs to be 100%. This means... -

Ridgewalker replied to jmcbride4291's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Unfortunately, no one can tell you exactly what to expect, because there's no telling. Everyone reacts differently. I can tell you though, that my younger son (who I put on a gluten-free diet mostly because of neuro symptoms) had uncontrollable diarrhea and even vomitting for the first week to week and a half. Like you say, odd symptoms at first aren... -

Well... it's 8:30pm and I'm beginning to feel like myself again. And I don't normally GET hangovers, like, ever. Oh man... What a party... Yes, I am younger than my 30 year old friend... by exactly one month. Her b-day is April 8th, mine is May 8th. Kinda like the younger twin calling the older one "Grandma." Amanda... Landen's symptoms also... -

Heading out to my best friend's 30th birthday party! Kids are spending the night with my mom. I'm so looking forward to this. (BTW, any of you who've looked at my MySpace page.... she's the one that called me all those terrible names on my comments section. Totally provoked of course, as I went to her page and pointed out her elder-than-me age... several...
