I was talking to my nutritionalist about my wife being cold all the time. She said that iodine could be a problem. When my wife did the iodine test, it disappeared in about three hours. It is supposed to take 24 hours to disappear. Maybe you are iodine deficient. The two way she suggested finding out were with iodine for the drug store and taking your...

ARCHIVED My Son's Decision To Go Gluten Free
binky1246 replied to Cam's Mom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I wish I was as good as our kids. My 7 year old is gluten-free by choice. Once in a great while he will get upset about not eating something, but the rest of the time, he will police himself. Around Halloween, he got a cupcake at school. He wasn't sure if he should eat it so he waited until I picked him up and asked if he could have it. When I told him... -

binky1246 replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My wife made these for me and our kids tonight. They are awesome. I ate until I got a stomach ache. We used gluten-free oats and WOW. Anyone that says gluten-free doesn't taste good needs to try these. Thank you for sharing the recipe with us. -
ARCHIVED Vodka's

As one that is allergic to brewers yeast, I have to be careful on which ones I drink. Absolute was very helpful in telling me the the gluten and yeast are filter out in the process on how it is made. That being said, I have had my best luck with Grey Goose for not feeling lousy the next day. It is expensive, but I feel I am worth it. Plus, all healthy... -
We are going on a Princess Cruise over Christmas and were wondering if we were allowed to take food on the ship. We have faxed them about our special needs, but were wondering about snacks. If anyone knows anything that can help we would appreciate it.

ARCHIVED Kix Cereal
binky1246 replied to jnifred's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The only cereal that is gluten free are fruity and cocoa pebbles. There is also a Dora the Explorer cereal that I have heard is gluten free. My wife makes cocoa pebbles crispy treats that are awesome. She makes them just like rice crispy treats. -
ARCHIVED If Your Glutening Symptoms Are Depression And Rage?
binky1246 replied to VioletBlue's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It is nice to know I am not alone. This is the exact reaction that I get. It is a motivator to not eat gluten. My employees at work always comment how different I am when I have been glutened. The worst part is all the worrying I do. Things that don't even matter. It takes so much effort to control myself, I usually just kind of disappear. Thanks... -
ARCHIVED Sinus Issues Caused By Gluten - Help !
binky1246 replied to NorthernElf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Along with gluten, I am allergic to brewer's yeast. On the occasion I do drink, I always have plugged sinuses the next day. I also have the joint pain. I take 1 Allegra-d and 4 advil. It clears it up pretty quickly. In case you are wondering, my wife was told that taking 4 advil is ok once in a while(pms). Since I found out about all of food allergies... -
ARCHIVED Pain In Muscles - Real Or Imagined
binky1246 replied to shp2drp57's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had this same problem. My muscles hurt all the time. I used to lift weights, and for a long time, I couldn't even think about that without pain. Going gluten free helped, but finding out everything else I am allergic to really helped. I have a lot of food allergies and getting off all the food really made a difference. I an starting to work out a couple... -
ARCHIVED People With Clinical Depression And Anxiety
binky1246 replied to Mtndog's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been fighting with depression for a while. When I realized I had celiac(with no help from doctors) I thought that would fix it. It did some. Then I had a ELISA blood test done for 128 food allergies. The problem I had was that after I went gluten-free, I was still eating foods that were dangerous to me. The hard part is that it is healthy foods... -
ARCHIVED In Tears Preparing Meals For My Gluten Free Family
binky1246 replied to lailabean's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
As a husband who has celiac, you are a great wife and mother. My wife is in the same situation. Our problem was that once I went gluten-free, I have since found out that most of the food we were eating I am also allergic to. She felt so defeated. I truly feel bad for her, but appreciate her for all she has done. It is a steep learning curve. Like you... -
I have this problem when I run. If I ride my bicycle, it doesn't seem to happen. I have also noticed that after I run and get the pain, I have to go to the bathroom. It seems to me that the running helps get things moving. It makes me feel a little better that I am not alone. This has only started since I have been gluten free.

ARCHIVED Anyone Else See Sicko?

Car insurance. To me this is the perfect solution. The worse the driver the higher the premium. I have had weight issues my whole life. I am currently obese. I am at fault for it. The diet that is required for me to stay skinny, was to difficult to stay on. That is one else's fault but my own. This is my hand and my choice. I am currently (paying... -
I have heard that MSG is bad for us celiac's and I've heard that it is not bad for us. Does anyone here know. It would help us with our son.

ARCHIVED Bodybuilders Diet Advice Please
binky1246 replied to whattodo's topic in Sports and Fitness
Optimum Nutrition has gluten free protein. Are you dairy intolerant? If so, stay away from the whey protein. They have egg protein and soy protein also. I have been into bodybuilding for 10 years. The best way I've found to put on size is to lift three times a week and do 20 minutes of cardio with each workout. That gives you enough cardio to stay lean... -
ARCHIVED My Son
binky1246 replied to binky1246's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We have cut back on the dairy and that seems to help. Thank you all for your help. When this was just me, it wasn't so bad, but I wish my son didn't have to go through this. He has been a trooper. He says that he is just like his daddy. The one thing that helped was the Kinnikinnick donuts. Thank you again. -
I have Celiac and we think my son does. We are trying him an a gluten free diet. My question is he is saying that he is going to vomit at night before bed. I don't know if it is in his mind or if it is real. He has vomited a few times when he has gotten into excessive amounts of gluten. We were starting him slowly, but now have just totally switched...

The Weber Grill has a good size gluten-free menu. I ate there last week and it was great. Their dessert menu is just a milkshake, but their dinner menu is large. All the food is cooked on Weber charcoal grills. I believe they have an online menu. Good luck.
-
Food was good. I had ribs and brisket. I also had the fire-grilled mushrooms. The only thing that it was lacking was dessert. They only offer a milkshake. I was impressed with everything else they offered.

My wife and I ate at the Weber Grill in downtown Chicago. They have a rather large gluten-free menu. They were very friendly about it. I don't know how big of a chain they are, but their worth going to.

Has anyone here had the Sage food allergy test. My doctor wants me to take it. It is covered out of network by my insurance, just wanting some opinions.

ARCHIVED When Someone Has Very Possible Symptoms Of Celiac/gluten Intolerance...
binky1246 replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
In my excitement about feeling better, I have mentioned it to a few people. The thing I am learning is that people aren't very receptive about it. Once they find out what is involved, their health isn't worth it. It saddens me, because it is family and I know they have it. I guess that I will continue to live my life and let them live theirs. My question... -
Last night my wife and I ate at the Aurelios Pizza in Homewood, Ill. and had a wonderful time. My neighbor had told me that they offered a gluten-free pizza, so I had to try it. It was great. They only come in individual sizes, but it was like eating real pizza. I don't feel any effects from it today. I am always nervous when I eat out, but this was...

I used to get canker sores all the time, but since I have been gluten-free, I have not had one. I guess it is one of the unknown benefits of this great lifestyle.
