  1. Perhaps it was all a ruse . . . maybe she just wanted something new. My current washer & dryer don't match, don't do very big loads and are LOUD. I told me hubby which ever one goes out first, we're replacing them both with a top notch (cha-chinchillaching) pair. That was several years ago. They're still going . . . I might have to resort to sabotage...
  2. groooooaaaaaaannnnnnn . . . but well-done . . . HiYa Etta . . . what's yer chinchilla's name?
  3. "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine." One of my favourite movies. Don't let Emily be the grand marshall of the parade . . . last time she was in charge, the police were called, wild animals stampeded, and David Hasselhoff showed up and made a complete fool of himself.
  4. Were you dissolving them in water? Some vitamins are fat-soluable. What happens if you try and dissolve them in a little cooking oil? (ummm . . . . . . just guessing that cooking oil would do the trick.)
  5. Sorry to hear the news Low-ee . . . now to get onto the bidness of putting together a plan of attack . . . my prayers are with ya.
  6. The first time we went, my daughter had a problem but I know it was because she absolutely stuffed herself. We hardly ever eat out and she loved it...and kept eating and eating...and then got dessert...and then was miserable. We've been back a couple of times now and the novelty has worn off. She paces herself and knows if she's too full for her dessert...
  7. So sorry to hear about Mocha, Rache . . . family members are family members, regardless of shape, size, hair/fur colour, number of legs, tails or lack of tails!!! . . . it hurts!! My kids keep talking about what kind of pet we'll get after JoDog dies . . . she's only six.

  12. Happy (Day After Your) Birthday Rush-L!!! Sorry I'm late. Dang, I'm tired. I want to take a nap but kiddos are due home any minute . . . and they're noisy. Visiting my first IKEA this weekend, anybody got any recommendations?
  13. I hear ya!!! Thanks larry mac!!!
  14. We use Old El Paso and Ortega also with no problems. Last time I looked, the Taco Bell packaged seasoning also contained wheat.
  15. Shroomie . . . Thanks so much for posting. We were all worried . . . and all saddened by the news. Stay safe.
  16. I've used the Kinnikinnick ones also. They are called S'moreables. Loved them. There is another brand that I have seen . . . Jo-sef's. Have never tried them.
  17. I'm not a doctor . . . Positive blood test = Celiac disease in my book. Furthermore, I would bet those stomach aches are from Celiac Disease. IBS is a catch-all for generic gastro stuff going on but the doc is not sure why. Being positive for the gene does not mean that you will develop Celiac Disease. About a third of the population has the gene...
  18. Actually, our own Elementary School was looking into forming a team. Instead they just started a lego club . . . don't know if it will develop into something more or not. The highschool robotics club holds lego camp each summer as a fundraiser for their orginization. They use the Lego Mindstorm as a basis and work in teams and compete at the end of the...
  19. I showed Smackl . . . he loved it. Our high school has a robotics club I would love for him to get involved in. He's in fifth grade. Is that jumping the gun a bit?
  20. I like Pamela's but it makes for a tasty but (IMO) dense product. Might be OK for carrot cake. For cakes, I use a combonation of white rice flour and potato starch . . . two parts rice flour to 1 part potato starch. I don't like tapioca starch in my cakes, it gives them a spongy texture that I don't care for in my cakes (flavor is OK). I get my white...
  21. The doctor that we saw for a second opinion when my daughter was first diagnosed wanted us to challenge her after she had been gluten free for 6 months. He wanted us to challenge her for two months (with a repeat blood test) or until symptoms came back, which ever was shortest. I was planning on challenging because I was in major denial about the whole...
  22. larry mac, would you please post the whole recipe . . . either here or start a thread in recipes. My family is all about all things pumpkin. Regarding the BC cake mixes . . . that yellow cake mix really comes out dry whenever I make it as a cake. When I make cupcakes, they turn out just fine. When I bought the devil's food, I automatically just made...
  23. Cold fried chicken for breakfast . . . mmmmmmmm. Mornin' Pholks. Have the kiddos home for President's day. Smackl doesn't know it, but he's getting his hair cut today Now don't you go and tell him . . . it's going to be a surprise.
  24. You do not need to buy "special" toiletries . . . but you need to check that the ones you are using are safe. Many name brands are OK. Crest is OK. Dove soap is OK. Suave shampoo is OK. There are a lot more that are safe . . . those are the ones I know because that's what we use here. You can google your brand (plus the words gluten free) and see what...
  25. I'm stuffed . . . made fried chicken and had the Out In-Laws over. My house smells . . . greasy.
