  1. I HATE rolling out pie crusts! Here is my grandmother's no fail, no roll pie crust recipe For 1 crust (for double crust, double recipe): 1 cup flour (I use Pamela's baking mix) 1 stick (1/2cup) butter (or margerine) 2 TBS sugar In pie plate, melt butter in microwave. Add flour and sugar, mix with a fork until well combined into a ball, pat...
  2. I use Pamelas baking mix for everything. It always turns out yummy. There's also recipes for biscotti on their website. www.pamelasproducts.com
  3. We started kindergarted last year. I made an appt right away with her teacher, gave her a biner of information, tried to put the fear of God into her and gave her and the school office a letter from the doctor stating her needs. I basically didn't give them a chance to give me any problems. I told them-this is what you will do, she WILL NOT get sick here...
  4. Their hot dogs are good too, my kids LOVE them (and they don't have a bunch of crap in them)
  5. Also, for your own health and well-being, you should stay away from all the nitrate crap. Hormel's new brand of lunchmeat (the all natural stuff) is really good and also states gluten-free on the back. The bacon is really good too. It's not as expensive as the premium stuff. When it's on sale, I buy a bunch and freeze it.
  6. If you can get your hands on it, Angeline's white bread is some of the best bread I've ever had--it tastes like 'real' homemade white bread. You can find it fairly easily if you live in Oregon or SW Washington since the bakery is in Oregon, but you can order it online--but you'll pay a mint in shipping costs. It's almost worth it to taste it once
  7. Our daughter had a growing issue before diagnosis. She had always been in the 95th percentile on height and weight until the time between age 3 and 4 when she dropped significantly. She weighed 39# and was 39in tall the entire year. The dr origionally thought it was fine-since kids do grow at different rates, BUT after her biopsy at her 1 month check-up...
  8. The Pacific Foods creamy tomato is the best tomato soup I've ever had. They have a butternut squash that's good too. Imagine foods has a bunch of gluten-free soups as does Amy's and Health Valley. There is a lentil and a veggie soup that are really good (I think it's Amy's)
  9. I just had a thought, is he boycotting all liquid or just the soy milk? Both my son and daughter HATE milk and refuse to drink it, even on cereal, but they do drink a lot of water, eat a lot of fruits and veggies so there's no issue on hydration. I totally understand if he's missing milk and you're looking for a replacement though. We just don't actually...
  10. We also buy Silk, it's OK, the chocolate is MUCH better than the vanilla, but the vanilla is good on cereal. I haven't found a vanilla or plain soymilk that I can stomach on its own. Is is a whole dairy allergy or lactose intolerance. You could try Lactaid milk if it's not a dairy allergy--I'm 'told' it's pretty good...
  11. I found this too, we LOVE it!!! It fills you up quickly, and for our son who eats very little protein, it's great! It holds sauce really well and it's really good in stir-fry's and cold noodle salads!
  12. If you use it to blow your nose it's pretty close to your mouth--I don't eat it but.....
  13. A friend who also has celiac, just called me about a list she recieved regarding toilet paper and paper towels, some mainstream/name brand that contain gluten. She didn't have the brand list with her. Was wondering if anyone elso knew anything about it? We buy Kirkland and Charmin.
  14. DD has severe reactions when glutened. She's never had a reaction to any of their products that are labeled GLUTEN FREE (I don't buy the others). There are a few products they have that clearly say, no added gluten ingredients but processed in a facility that processes wheat. The products that state GLUTEN FREE, are supposed to be processed in a "safe...
  15. Here's a link I found for Amy's products: Open Original Shared Link
  16. I do so love the truffle brownies--however, not sure how I'm cooking them wrong, but the outter edges (that ends up to be about 1/2 the pan) are hard as a brick--although still tasty dipped in milk, I prefer the gooey center brownie. I can't seem to find a balance--it's either all goo or half goo half brick--never sets up right. What am I doing wrong??...
  17. If you were eating out at all, figure out where you went and maybe not go there again. All it takes is for someone not to wash hands thoroughly and that's it. Otherwise, help her through her reaction, do what you can to relieve her symptoms and move on. There will be wonderful, positive experiences along the way, and more than likely, unless you are in...
  18. Can you just repeat to yourself every time the temptations start: Cancer, Poison, Cancer, Poison, maybe this would help remind you what you're doing to your body when you cheat. Maybe keep a stash of goodies at work so when the poison comes in, you're prepared??!! Good luck!
  19. I have a huge list/plan that I created for someone else, if you want me to fwd it to you, PM me and i'll get it right over.
  20. So, we went on an adventure/vacation last week to Bend, OR. I made sure we had a condo with a kitchen so I could cook most, if not all of our meals so as to not poison my child. The 1st night, we went to Wild Oats, where in the bread section-searching for a gluten-free loaf, I happened upon a loaf from a local bakery (Angeline's). There were scones, cookies...
  21. Our daughter was 4 when she was tested, our son had just been born (I think it was her 'trigger'). Our ped's GI wanted to wait until he was 2--which was last week. I dreaded taking him in to have the blood draw, but our lab is SOOO great and although he cried and wouldn't look at me for 2 hours (he also had his HepA shot), he did great and the test came...
  22. I've been doing Windsor pilates since 2001 at least 3 days a week. It saved my back from physical therapy (after my daughter was born) and bi-weekly trips to the chiropractor. I go back in once every 6 mo just for an adjustment, and he tells me to keep doing what I'm doing because my back looks great----not to mention the 6 inches I lost off my waist in...
  23. After a day at the pumpkin patch last October, my daughter came home complaining of stomachaches. Her teachers and I went over EVERYTHING she ate and the only thing we could come up with is the hay maze/bales. She had hay stuck in every piece of clothing. Her teachers were so concerned about it before symptoms that they actually wiped her down before getting...
  24. I just wonder if eating whatever he wants is his way of being in control. If he can't control what's happening with his mother, he might be using the food.... Just a thought.
  25. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I know it helped me immensly when my dad upped and left-would it help for him to see a councelor or something? Maybe he just needs to get out all the poison in his head before he can freely let go of the poison in his body. I've been there, it hurts...
