Karen - I know it's a bit of a drive for you, but I wanted to invite you to our gluten-free support group. It's at Marlene's Market in Federal Way on Monday February 18 at 7:00. We are going to have some great samples to try, and next month we may even have a dietician come and speak. Here's the info on Marlene's: Open Original Shared Link I know...

ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have swimming pool. It looks quite brown in the container, but looks OK if applied with a light hand. It has no sparkle, so it's nice for a non-sparkly day like casual Friday. I got my last order on Wednesday. I ordered it on Saturday, so I am quite pleased with the quick turnaround. I opened all the eyeshadows and applied each one up and down... -
ARCHIVED Help Me Convert This Receipe Please!
cruelshoes replied to Worriedtodeath's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Bumping a post is just posting a blank message or the word "bump" to a message to get it to come back to the first page. Many boards allow it, but this board does not. It is rule # 3 in the Open Original Shared Link: I don't have a problem with thread bumping, but that's the rule over here. Usually if I want to bring something back to the... -
ARCHIVED Our Numbers Are Slipping
cruelshoes replied to Mom23boys's topic in Publications & Publicity
I think they took the percentages down to build up anticipation for the announcement tomorrow. There would be no reason for us to watch the show if we all knew who won ahead of time. Have faith, grasshoppers..... I personally would love it if it had tons of ads in it. I love to read about new products. And the more manufacturers see that there is money... -
ARCHIVED Pamela's Baking Mix For Cookies
cruelshoes replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
When we could eat dairy, I used that Pamela's mix to make cookies all the time. When I used butter it would spread all over. I switched over to shortening (trans-fat free) and refrigerated the cookie dough for 2 hours or so before baking. With those changes I got a great cookie that did not spread too much. Butter in general tends to produce a cookie... -
ARCHIVED How It Works
cruelshoes replied to ZatKat's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Celiac is the only autoimmune disease for which the trigger is known (Gluten). If you remove the trigger, the body stops reacting to it. Once that happens, the body can begin to heal. I had persistent D every day for 18 years - up to 50 times per day. Within 3 days of removing gluten, that had started to dissipate, and within a month was completely gone... -
ARCHIVED Is There Such A Thing? (crackers)
cruelshoes replied to jayhawkmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think these may fit the bill: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I have actually used Chebe to make crackers. Just roll it out really thin and bake it until it is crispy. I hope you find something that works for you. -
ARCHIVED How To Use White Bean Flour
cruelshoes replied to Gentleheart's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I think this is more of the problem than the beans themselves. I would never be able to choke down a baked good made with only bean flour. It would be way to strong of a flavor and the wrong texture. If it were me, I would try using half bean flour and half of another flour mix. Also, I think bean flours work best in a recipe that has a lot of other strong... -
ARCHIVED Mr. Krispers
cruelshoes replied to radgirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
At this point, there is no definition in the US for what is gluten free. It is being discussed at the government level, and a ruling is supposed to come out in 8/08. When the ruling comes out, manufacturers using the gluten-free label will be voluntary. The 200 PPM CODEX standard relates to Europe and other countries, not the US. We have eaten... -

ARCHIVED Snack And Cereal Substitutes
cruelshoes replied to stolly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We definitely liked the cheerio type cereal made by Glutino better than the Perky-o's. I tried to feed the Perky-o's to our chickens and even they wouldn't eat them. Envirokidz makes some great kid-friendly cereals They aren't exactly like the ones on your list, but I'd be surprised if your DD didn't like them. There really isn't a flake-type cereal... -
ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Same here! Once I didn't put on makeup on a Saturday. Even though I wasn't leaving the house it still felt wierd. A couple of days ago, I saw a picture of myself pre-EM. I thought, boy I sure look washed out and tired. My husband keeps telling me what a hot chick I am. So what's the deal with the lip glosses? I ordered one, and it did not roll... -
ARCHIVED Trouble W/lay's Plain Chips?
cruelshoes replied to horsefarmer4's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We eat the Lays plain chips with probably too much regularity and we have never reacted to them. My son and I are very sensitive to the smallest amount of gluten, and our antibodies are in the negative range. While I don't disbelieve that some have CC experiences with them, that has never been our experience. -
ARCHIVED Is Anything Safe At Mcdonalds?
cruelshoes replied to dandelionmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Nope not a typo. The grilled chicken has wheat, and has for at least the last few years since I have been diagnosed. Mama Goose posted the ingredients above. Stupid place to find wheat, huh? -

ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Text message was waaaay too dark for me as a blush, but it works great as an eyeshadow. It really makes my green eyes pop. My new favorite look for eyes is rare silk as a base, smoky pink on the lid and in the garden as a liner. In the garden is a purple/brown with just a touch of green and I love the look of it. I love all the browns as liners. ... -
Have any of you read the comments on Martha's blog? People are absolutely crying for the allergy/intollerance one to win. Most of the comments are about that one. I just voted a bunch more times. I am getting so much positive response from my family and friends that I have sent it out to as well. They are forwarding it on to lots of people.

You might want to check out the thread below before you eat Sami's bread again. It has been shown to have extremely high levels of gluten contamination. Be careful out there. Open Original Shared Link

Fits me to a T. Although we had to let the drummer go because we were too broke to pay him anymore. And all that rum-pa-pum-pum stuff gets on the nerves after a while. My husband decided to give me the birthday gift of tearing up our kitchen. Couldn't the kitchen remodel have waited one day, I ask you??? -

Well, today is my birthday, so as the resident groundhog I am here to say that there will be no more winter! Snow and cold are right out. I am 37. I am thrilled that I get to finally relive that scene from Monty Python in my personal life. Old woman! Man. What? Man. Sorry. Who is the lord that lives in that castle? I'm 37. What? I'm 37. ... -
