ARCHIVED Tacoma Wa..... Looking For Gluten Free Restaurants
cruelshoes replied to Abbott50's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
A month or so ago someone posted about a new restaurant called Woody's on the Water that had gluten-free options. I haven't been there, but Open Original Shared Link. I know it's a little outside of the area you wanted, but Federal Way has a McGrath's Fish House, which has a gluten-free menu. I haven't been there yet, but I got the menu emailed to me... -

ARCHIVED 6 Weeks On Cf Diet With No Changes
cruelshoes posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
My celiac son has been completely casein free since 1/15. His Neurologist asked that we put him on a CF diet to see if it helps with his small motor coordination disorder. I am scrutinizing everything that comes into the house and goes into his mouth. My son was OK with the gluten-free diet, but removing casein makes it much more restrictive. We have... -
ARCHIVED High Ttg Level
cruelshoes replied to CeliacSister33's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Each lab that processes the bloodwork will have a different range of what is normal. For example, one lab will say anything below 3 is negative, and another will say that anything below 20 is negative and so on. So it is difficult to compare one person's bloodwork to another unless both labs were using the same measurement scale. It is also important to... -
ARCHIVED Villi Atrophy, Negative Blood Tests
cruelshoes replied to northernsunshine's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Celiac is the main cause for villi damage, but there are other causes. Some of the other possibilities rarely cause flatened villi, and are usually found in conjunction with Celiac Disease or immuno-deficiencies. https://www.celiac.com/articles/50/1/Main-C...illi/Page1.html It is also very common for people to have negative bloodwork and positive biopsy... -

cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I got favorite Hoodie in a free sample kit thinking I would use it as an eyeshadow only. I couldn't imagine using brown blush. But I tried it today as a blush, and it looks surprisingly good. Quite warm and nice. I am using it as an eyeshadow today too, so it all ties together. -

We watched it with our Girl Scout troop. Pretty cool stuff. -
When you are in the screen where you are typing your post, you will see several options above the place where you type. There are options for bolding, underlining, making a hyperlink, etc. Right next to the one that says "sizes" is on that has a capital A with a down arrow. If you click the down arrow, you will get a popup with all the colors to choose...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Drug List
cruelshoes replied to Cynbd's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
All lists should be used as a starting point, but the information contained there should always be verified. Manufacturers frequently change formulas and lists are not always updated to keep up. I think it would be wise to check gluten free status with the manufacturer and pharmacist before taking any new med. I might be anal, but I check before doing... -
Now you are a color pro! Whew - I can see how that could get addictive (and annoying ) after a while. Looking forward to your colorful posts!

cruelshoes replied to cruelshoes's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Come on down! Next month we are going to have the dietician from Organic Bistro come and speak to us about living gluten-free and have samples of their entrees. We meet the third Monday of the month at Marlene's. If you decide you don't want to make the trek down here, here are some links to other support groups in the area. We'd love to have you... -
Type in the text you want, then hilight it (click and drag over it with your mouse) and choose the color you want by clicking it on the color palate. Then the text you hilighted will be wrapped in the color tags and when you preview or post it, it will be in the color you wanted. Kinda fun to play with.

The Big 8 allergens include milk, eggs, fish (e.g., bass, flounder, cod), Crustacean shellfish (e.g., crab, lobster, shrimp), tree nuts (e.g., almonds, walnuts, pecans), peanuts, wheat, and soybeans. They can do this... -
ARCHIVED Confused Mom
cruelshoes replied to cdmom95's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am by no means an antibody expert, but I will answer to the best of my ability. I am confident if I speak out of turn someone will correct me. It is my understanding that a wheat allergy is an IgE response. The IgA tests for celiac (EMA, tTg and AGA) are measuring specific variants of IgA. EMA measures Endomesial antibodies, tTg measures... -

ARCHIVED Want To Recreate Pamela's Wheat Free Bread Mix
cruelshoes posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We love the Open Original Shared Link. I usually bake from scratch, but since my son has been on a CF diet, I have relied on this mix for bread. All of my other TNT bread recipes have milk in them. I would like to make a bread like this from scratch and not rely on the mix. Anyone have a recipe that's close? I like the bread because it is CF, tastes... -

OK, ladies. I think I need an eyeshadow intervention. My new Caboodles organizer has given me a conundrum. Now that I have all my eyeshadows organized, I figured out I have more than I thought I did. I actually have 28 colors, not 20. Add to that a few blush colors that I really like better as eye colors. So I really have 30 or so. Can I really... -

ARCHIVED Maltodextrin
cruelshoes replied to Katrinm's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Psawyer helped me understand this ingredient. In the US, if an ingredient simply states "Maltodextrin", it, by law, is produced from corn, potato or rice. Here is the actual USDA code regarding this ingredient "USA Code of Federal Regulations Sec. 184.1444 Maltodextrin CAS Reg. No. 9050-36-6. It is a nonsweet nutritive saccharide polymer... -

Did you guys see that they extended the current special? It now says it applies to orders placed before 2/18. Does this mean there is a new website coming on 2/19??? This is way more fun than speculating about the outcome of the next presidential election. I FINALLY broke down and bought an organizer. Target was clearing out a bunch of caboodles... -
ARCHIVED Green Giant Sweet/sour Stir Fry
cruelshoes replied to marlykarly's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link is owned by Betty Crocker (General Mills). They clearly list all gluten ingredients. If you do not see wheat, barley, rye or oats, it is a safe product.
