  1. We've eaten a whole box of them in our house, and have not had any reaction. Hope you get to the bottom of things.
  2. The total IgA is not shown above. The TtG IgA and Anti Gliadin IgA results you posted are negative, while the Anti Gliadin IgG and tTg IgG are both positive. It would be very helpful to know if your child is IgA deficient. That would give more power to the positive IgG results. Did they run that test?
  3. It has been my experience that my reactions to gluten get more severe the longer I am gluten-free. It has also been true for my son as well. He was asymptomatic when he was diagnosed. Now when he gets exposed to gluten, his reaction is swift and terrible. Kinda seems unfair, doesn't it? The harder we try to be gluten-free, the worse the reaction to...
  4. I generally use rice bran in recipes that call for wheat germ. Open Original Shared Link It's not exactly the same, but is a reasonable approximation of wheat germ. Hope this helps.
  5. Celiac is the main cause for villi damage, but there are other causes. Some of the other possibilities rarely cause flatened villi, and are usually found in conjunction with Celiac Disease or immuno-deficiencies. Villi damage can be caused by: Coeliac Disease Cows Milk Protein Intolerance Soy Protein Intolerance refractory Sprue Collagenous...
  6. You can't beat their prices on nuts. I think I paid something like $2.99/lb the last time I bought cashews. Their price on almond meal is great too. I also get Lara bars and Cliff Nectar bars there. Their rice pasta is cheap - $1.99/lb, and they have spaghetti, fusili and ziti. Their banana waffles in the freezer section are nummy. They have envirokids cereal...
  7. All Coppertone products are gluten-free (verified by phone 9/11/07).
  8. Here are our favorites in no particular order: Open Original Shared Link - we use them for Pamelas and Bobs Red Mill products. They have over 1,000 gluten-free products. Their prices are great. Open Original Shared Link - they have a lot of variety and brands I can't find anywhere locally. I love the Really Great Foods cake mixes. I also find the...
  9. That depends on what's in them. Can you provide a brand name or ingredient list?
  10. There are other conditions that can cause an elevated tTg reading, including Type 1 Diabetes, Hashimoto
  11. From the Open Original Shared Link: I think an important consideration before eschewing the biopsy is whether or not your doctor will give you the diagnosis based on the bloodwork and dietary results. Many will not. You need to consider if a formal diagnosis is important to you. It is very important to me when it comes to my son. Many people go...
  12. I consider myself the Grand Duchess of eyeshadow colors (Donna is the Queen ) since I have over 40 colors now. I have all of those colors you mentioned. I would definitely go with Good China. It is hands down the color I use most often for a hilighter or base. It is the perfect combination of beige/peach/pink. It works with everything. Floating...
  13. I'd be excited too! The only thing better than gluten-free food is gluten-free food that's half price.
  14. New things I have tried in the last few days that I like a lot: Well being as a liner - I think I like this even better than Mystic Night. It's a great dark sparkly purple. Morocco - Not as dark as I thought it would be. Looked great with my green eyes. Oasis - not nearly as yellow as I thought it would be. I got a little scared looking at the...
  15. More info about family members and testing: Open Original Shared Link
  16. Hi, Puddy. Sorry I wasn't clear. My son and daughter were both asymptomatic. My son's bloodwork was positive and my daughter's was negative. We proceeded with the biopsy on my son, and he had significant villi damage. We have not done any further testing on my daughter, but will have bloodwork done during her annual physical in a few months. If her...
  17. Whenever I want to link to that site, I use TinyURL. Maybe not the ideal solution, but it works. Open Original Shared Link
  18. From University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center Open Original Shared Link Dr. Green recommends that first degree relatives be tested every 2 years, more often in the event of symptoms. While tests can be unreliable in the very young, positive results are not unheard of. I know of several diagnosed celiacs (bloodwork and biopsy) that are under...
  19. Spelt is not a good option for someone following a gluten-free diet. I hope you can use the gluten-free oat ones instead. Be careful out there.
  20. These are made from gluten-free oats: Open Original Shared Link
  21. If you are so inclined, please send a note to General Mills telling them you are appreciative of them taking this step. The more they hear from our community the more likely they are to make other products gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link
  22. That is so cool! They really seem to be taking this seriously. Sponsoring a celiac convention shows that they are really wanting to reach out to our community. I found the flyer about the convention you are talking about, Looks like a good time! Open Original Shared Link My son and I are really sensitive to even a trace of CC. We both...
  23. Well, it's not a recipe exactly, but bagels made from the Pamela's wheat free bread mix are absolutely the best I have had in 2.5 years. Chewy on the outside and soft on the inside.
  24. I went out at lunch to buy a box and found it at the first store I went to. Not only does it say gluten free on the front of the box, there is a couple of sentences on the back of the box talking about how it is a good choice for those following a gluten free lifestyle. Someone actually asked me why I was hugging a box of cereal when I came back to...
  25. What a blessing. Thanks for sharing his cute face.
