ARCHIVED Hershey Chocolate Syrup
cruelshoes replied to Lagomom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The statement Hersheys made to you today is in direct conflict with the statements they made to other members of the forum a few months ago (https://www.celiac.com/index.php?s...44350&st=33) They will not confirm or deny if their natural flavors contain gluten. Hersheys is not a reliable company. Hersheys has tested some of their products for gluten... -

cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm still here, and check in most days. I am impatiently waiting for the new custom kits, and refuse to place an order until they are ready. I want all the new eyeshadows, and need to order a new sample kit. Today is a blue eyeshadow day. I am wearing baby sitter over floating feathers. I really want all the new blue and green colors....... -
ARCHIVED Ttg Levels Higher Than When Diagnosed
cruelshoes replied to josmom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
First, one month gluten-free is probably not long enough to see the antibody level drop appreciably. Most celiac centers recommend follow up testing at 6 months and one year. Did you MD say why you are doing follow up testing so soon? Open Original Shared Link Secondly, the fact that your DD has diabetes can cause her TtG antibodies to be elevated... -

ARCHIVED Urgent Help Needed - Xanthum And Guar Gum ?
cruelshoes replied to CeliacMom2008's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
If the flour mix you are using has quar gum, you do not need to add additional xanthan. They serve the same purpose. Hope this helps! -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Help Me With My Lab Results?
cruelshoes replied to Nan2N's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The bloodwork results you have posted are highly suggestive of celiac disease. You are not IgA Deficient, and the TtG and EmA (nearly 100% specific to celiac) are both positive AND you posess one of the genes for celiac. The results on the biopsy can be hit and miss unless you have severe damage. If it were me, I would be inclined to stay on a gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED Xanthan Gum, Enighten Me Please
cruelshoes replied to Breila's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Open Original Shared Link is a thickener (it increases the viscosity of liquids) and emulsifier (it keeps things from separating). A very small amount can add much needed structure to gluten free baked goods. I get mine 5# at a time online, but most well-stocked health food stores sell it. Guar gum may be a good substitute if you can find that as... -
ARCHIVED Mint Crisp M&m's?
cruelshoes posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Have any of you tried the Mint Crisp M&M's that are out as a promotion for the new Indiana Jones Movie? These are not the same as the crispy M&M's in the blue bag that had barley malt in them. I felt safe eating them because M&M's has good labeling practices, and the label did not contain any gluten ingredients. Something in this product does... -

ARCHIVED Here's A New One
cruelshoes replied to GlutenWrangler's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I took that medication as a teenager during cancer treatment. It was not under that brand name, it was just marketed as THC. It did stimulate my appetite and help with the nausea, but I did not care for the side effects. I had hallucinations with it. I remember distinctly sitting in my astronomy/geology class after taking a dose and watching my teacher's... -
ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original
cruelshoes replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Infrequent visitor to sillyville here. I heard a rumor if you pass over a milestone number of posts here (799 to 800 for example), you can experience strange after effects. What symptoms might I expect? Does it involve itching, burning or swelling in any way? Can I take humaworm or some other medication to prevent it? Makeup tips anyone? -

ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I too am very excited. Our good news comes with a bit of bad news, however. In the comments on the last news entry, it was stated that they will be putting in all their efforts on the new website, and there won't be a new special right away. I am excited to browse the new stuff, though. I definitely need to order a new sample kit soon, though. I am getting...
