ARCHIVED Berry Berry Kix From General Mills
cruelshoes replied to savvvyseller's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I called General Mills to ask about this (I am a bit anal retentive ), and the rep said that the cereal is not on her list as being reformulated. Her ingredient list had oats listed. She said that the only gluten-free cereal they have right now is the Rice Chex. She did give their standard line about reading the ingredients on the box, however. Has... -

cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Zoiks, Jestgar. I hope the derm was able to get you fixed up. It's great that the doctor said mineral makeup is OK. Maybe he will write us all a prescription for it so we can write it off on our taxes. Girls, yesterday was SUCH a bad eyeshadow day. I tried using swing set as a base under cypress. It looked fine in my bathroom at home. But when... -
ARCHIVED Should I Be Scared About The Biopsy?
cruelshoes replied to Darcie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Mine was easy easy easy. The worst part was the anticipation. My son had one when he was 6, and came through it just fine, too. Open Original Shared Linkthat a friend wrote up on another forum about her endoscopy. Maybe it will help put your mind at ease. You will most likely find that you have no memory of the procedure when it is over. -

I am counting the days to the new website. I share with you my masterpiece. Yes, I have no life. 'Twas the day before the new EM site, and all through the forum All the cult members were showing lots of decorum. The carts were all filled with their orders with care, in hopes that the new EM website soon would be there. The girls were nestled... -
ARCHIVED I Need Recipes Using Egg Yokes
cruelshoes replied to Katydid's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We have 6 chickens, so I know all about having extra eggs in the house. Here are some of my favorite ways to use up yolks. Open Original Shared Link - this takes 12 yolks, so you might want to make half a batch. Open Original Shared Link - The absolute best pie crust I have had since going gluten-free. The price of the mini eyehadow kit has dropped by $1, but it no no longer includes a brush. Good thing I already have 3. I wonder what other changes are in store for us? No new special. They must be waiting for the new site. We have less than a week to wait! -

The AntiGliadin IgG may or may not be a celiac indicator. The IgG test is highly sensitive, but is less specific to celiac disease. ARCHIVED Accomodating Celiacs At Potlucks
cruelshoes replied to acousticmom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I personally would not put the gluten-free food on a separate table, but that's just me. I think we spend enough time separated from the food of others. A potluck is supposed to be all inclusive. If all the gluten-free food is placed on the table together, with a clear but subtle demarcation line (maybe a potted plant or a different tablecloth) the... -

I am such a good little cult member! I went shopping on Monday specifically to get tops that would qo with Snowflakes and Pink Pajamas. I was successful and found two great ones. I find myself reaching for Floating Feathers a lot recently to use as a base. It's great when I don't want the peach undertone that Good China has. Does anyone know... -

Here is the study you are asking about. It is the latest one that I know of. It indicates that the proper time to introduce gluten into an infant's diet may be between 4 - 6 months of age. ARCHIVED Diagnosis And Statistics
cruelshoes replied to gfp's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree that it is frustrating that people have to suffer so long to get a diagnosis. It's really hard sometimes to reconcile making oneself sick to get a positive biopsy. Hypothetically An executive decree has just passed and we are now the head of the Celiac Consortium of the World. We have to decide the best way to diagnose people. What would be... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease And Chemotherapy
cruelshoes replied to InsaneMomTo3Kids's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Celiac is a life long condition. There is currently no "cure" aside from the gluten free diet. Several drugs are being tested now, but even those do not promise to allow us to be able to eat gluten with impunity. They are probably only going to be a safety net in case of accidental cross contamination. You husband is going to need to be 100% gluten free... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease And Chemotherapy
cruelshoes replied to InsaneMomTo3Kids's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Celiac generally consists of 3 things: 1) Genetic Predisposition 2) Exposure to Gluten 3) Trigger event(s) - a period of stress, an illness, pregnancy, etc. Your husband already had 1 and 2, and the cancer treatment created the third. Chemo and radiation were also the trigger for my celiac. I had 2 years of chemo and several months of radiation... -
ARCHIVED Tell Me Why Again Please.
cruelshoes replied to thumper's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm not sure I understand the question. In reading some of your other posts, it seems that you went on a gluten and dairy free diet to control the "D" that was worsening your heart condition. You also mentioned that you may have DH. Presumably, by avoiding gluten and dairy, you are trying to avoid the symptoms that they create. Are you saying the... -
I am on a pepperoncinis kick right now. I absolutely have to eat them every day. ARCHIVED Quinoa...gross!
cruelshoes replied to MelliDuff's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
In addition to the saponin coating that needs to be rinsed off, quinoa, as a whole grain, can go rancid. Make sure the box you have hasn't been sitting around a while. I like the taste of the quinoa grain and the flakes, but cannot eat the flour for any reason. It does taste like dirt. I am a quinoa flour super taster. I think I need a cape and a...
