ARCHIVED Negative Dna Test... Now What Do I Do?
Ginsou replied to splash's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Guess you haven't noticed the www.redbridgebeer.com ads on this website. I purchase it at Walmart and liquor stores, and several supermarkets. I've never been much of a beer drinker, it always bloated me. I'm now retired, travel to Mexico and the southwest, and discovered Corona with a lime in it was just the thing to have with tacos or pizza. Since... -
ARCHIVED Apprehensive About Going To Doctor With This
Ginsou replied to Joyous's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with the previous poster about having tests done by Enterolab. After being very ill 24/7 for two months, and getting nowhere with antibiotics, diet change, "guesses" by pcp....diverticulitis, IBS, etc. Was referred to a gastroenterologist and had a 5 week wait for the appointment! Was in such severe pain I ended up in the emergency room where a CT... -
I'm glad you posted this question. I went on an 11 day cruise last year (another cruise line) and inquired ahead of time about passengers with special diet needs. At that time I was lactose intolerant, and was told they had a lactose free menu. Not true!! The maitre' d and waiter tried very, very hard to accomodate my food needs, but everything on the menu...

ARCHIVED Gross Topic - Poop
Ginsou replied to jewi0008's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It has happened to me also. Recently I ate a meat product that had soy in it. It was a large roast, so it was ingested over a period of about 3 days. After a few "explosive" intestinal incidents, I got to thinking....do I have a soy problem also?? Enterolab did another test, and sure enough, I have a soy problem. Use some vaseline in the rectal area after... -
ARCHIVED Listing Of gluten-free Foods That Taste Like The Real Thing...
Ginsou replied to FootballFanatic's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Arrowhead Mills Gluten Free Brownies are by far my favorite so far. Superb flavor, very moist. I baked these at a high altitude, and also at low altitude, and they were perfect each time. I used an 8 x8 pan....these were cake like, which I prefer. Their chocolate chip cookies were a disaster....more like peanut brittle spread all over the place. I honestly... -
I have a container of Vance's Dairy Free and it looks like your son can have it....it is not sold locally and I had to order it...expensive, but I needed it. Delivery was very quick via U.P.S. Vance's is: Gluten, casein, fat, soy, rice, msg, protein, cholesterol free. I purchased it for baking and cooking, and have not had a chance to try it yet, but have...

ARCHIVED Test Results
Ginsou replied to kellygirl28's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My blood tests for h.pylori and celiac took about 2 weeks. I had blood drawn at a lab, and the technician said 3 tests would be done there, and two tests would be sent out. I received a letter from the doctor's office saying all tests were negative....but the acutal test result figures were not included in the letter. The negative results shocked me...... -
Thanks for the heads up on BEANO. I was trying it for a while to see if it helped any. It didn't. I was taking it before I was diagnosed celiac and diagnosed casein intolerant. My lactose enzyme pills also had wheat in them, which explains why they stopped working over the years.....and explains why I've always felt I had another hidden health problem. Enterolab...

Is it possible that you are ingesting lactose in your diet? Dairy and casein free is not the same as lactose free. I'm lactose intolerant, and lack the enzyme necessary to digest lactose. The sulphur odor is the result of producing hydrogen gas in intestines---something that you are eating may be causing the odor. Have you tried taking Beano??? That may help...

Blood tests for celiac are not always accurate. My blood tests were normal, yet I was in severe abdominal pain on a daily basis and had stinging, stabbing pains in the abdomen and arms and legs.I had the Enterolab tests done. My results were positive.....tests were not terribly elevated, but the gene test showed both celiac gene and gluten sensitivity gene...

ARCHIVED I Want To Rip Out My Intestines
Ginsou replied to melmak5's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You must be terribly frustrated going through your present medical problems. Have you had any food allergy tests done? I think perhaps the scratch tests may be more accurate than the blood tests. Have you been tested for casein or lactose intolerance? (Dairy free does not mean casein or lactose free). Is it possible for you to get an appointment... -
Will check with the IRS....guess even their own employees give out misinformation. We don't pay that much for taxes anyway, am retired. I tell doctors that I'm perfectly healthy....except for being allergic to everything! I travel full time so usually don't see the same doctor more than twice. I also don't take meds.....and agree than most people my age...

JNBunnie1 No, you are not wrong. I'm from a medical background, and for most of my years have been able to diagnose my own problem, and treat it without seeing a doctor. I worked full time and raised two children by myself, and did not want to spend my free time at a doctor's office. Having an official diagnosis means: I can carry on large containers...

I'm the happiest person today....after months of excruciating pain, several doctors, and about $8,000 worth of normal medical test results, including blood test for Celiac, (I have no insurance) I finally know that I have known all along. YES, I do have the celiac/gluten problem, and also a dairy problem. Verified by EnteroLabs. I'm so glad I found this forum...

ARCHIVED Sorry But Gross!
Ginsou replied to NoSugarShell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hmmmmmm...interesting question. I noticed you are new to the forum, I'l also fairly new. Have you been diagnosed as yet? Have you had stool tests done yet? I became very sick for about 3 months, blood tests for Celiac were negative. I decided to have EnteroLab tests done and just got my results back......positive for gluten/dairy problem. Now I can at least... -
Leave it to a Yankee to come up with such a great recipe (I'm originally from NH also).I tried this in my bread machine today and I only have one complaint....I want more! I used the basic bread cycle, put the liquids in first, along with melted butter and brown sugar, added the flour mixture, then the yeast on top. The bread loaf was smaller than I thought...

ARCHIVED If You Like Pound Cake You Have To Try This Recipe
Ginsou replied to suepooh4's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Land o Lakes website has many gluten free recipes.....I just discovered their website a few days ago and haven't tried any of their recipes yet.....this one sounds yummy. My favorite lemon cake was Dassant brand, I am hoping to duplicate the taste. Bob's Red Mill website also has gluten free recipes. -
I've had severe lactose intolerance for 30 years, and yes, the pain may be an indication of another digestive problem. Every now and then I get something in my system that doesn't agree with me, and the pain is very intense, like labor pains, sometimes for 3 minutes, sometimes for several hours. I once ate some real whipped cream, (husband bought wrong kind...

I sure wish someone would try this in a bread machine! I'm dying to try this recipe. I think tomorrow will be the day for me to try this in a machine....will post the results.

I purchased a Chefman bread machine....never used....from a thrift store for $15.00. The first loaf, Pam's Amazing Bread Mix came out very moist....denser and heavier than I would like it, but I was able to have some very satisfying sandwiches for 4 days. The second loaf did not come out too well...another brand, French Bread style. The third loaf was very...

ARCHIVED Why Is The Commercial gluten-free Food And Drug Listing So Expensive?
Ginsou replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You don't have to pay for a list of gluten free foods.....or drugs.....there are many free lists out there on the internet. Google gluten free, and take the time to visit the various websites. I'm also upset about the price of the available foods, but had no choice at first. I now have many gluten free recipes, and am well on my way to living a fairly normal... -
ARCHIVED Do I Need To Get An Egd?
Ginsou replied to jewelie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to this forum. I'm also brand new to the gluten problem. My blood tests for Celiac were negative. Since I have no insurance, I decided not to have an endoscopy done, for the simple reason that I immediately went on a gluten free diet, and was no longer sick. Like my GI said.....the only proven way to know if you have this problem is to go on the diet... -
ARCHIVED Do I Need To Get An Egd?
Ginsou replied to jewelie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
whoops, incorrect post, don't know how to delete it. -
I'm so glad I saw this post....I'm originally from Lynn, and Swampscott, MA and some of my favorite memories have been of going out for fried clams and/or scallops. I now live in the western part of the US, and, unfortunately, the next time I visit will be for my 95 year old mom's departure from life. I will make it a point of revisiting my favorite places...
