  1. I see you are new at this so you haven't had time yet to find out that you should never trust food made by friends, family, coworkers, neighbors or anybody else that is not totally familiar with the gluten free lifestyle. Just because they used gluten free ingredients (or at least thought they did) does NOT mean the finish product is gluten free. The threat...
  2. Thank you for this recipe! My daughter has been asking for lemon poppy seed muffins!
  3. Velcro! I like the crock pot and freeze ahead idea. You can open the baggies with scissors.
  4. You might want to PM board member Rachel--24 and have her stop by and comment. Out of necessity she has done a *lot* of research. EDIT - Yikes! Is Rachel psychic? She's posting while I'm telling people to invite her to post! In the meantime, here is my understanding of it. You can be gluten intolerant for many reasons, one of which is...
  5. If you want to plan ahead for "emergencies" you could mix up a larger quantity of the dry ingredients and then use as needed. Looks like 10 T (a bit less the 2/3 cup) of the mixture ought to do it!
  6. That's a great story. Thanks for sharing it!
  7. Good idea. Consider asking the ER doc for a recommendation.
  8. Casein is the protein in milk and has the potential to cause many allergic and intolerance problems some of which can be quite serious. To be casein free you need to be dairy free. As far as shopping goes, it is difficult to find processed convenience foods that he (we ) can eat. Better to stick to fresh and frozen meats and produce that you prepare...
  9. That's the best retort I've ever read! Welcome to the forum.
  10. Thank you for coming to post in our forum. Unfortunately for you, your comments would have a lot more credibility had your company chosen to recall the beds when the problem was first discovered, rather than having you surf the internet frantically trying to do damage control. Most businesses who choose not to recall a defective product make that choice...
  11. Ever heard of Open Original Shared Link ? It's what farmers have used on cow's udders since 1899. It's a bit on the greasy side and is not foo-foo scented, but if you put just a bit of it on under gloves - your hands will soften up in no time. You can also mix it with lotion when you apply it. You can find it cheap on eBay.
  12. As others have posted, it seems highly unlikely. What do you do, and what else is around there?
  13. I bought one last year as a visual aid for showing the kids at church what a sheaf of wheat looked like when I was telling them the story of Joseph's dream of his brothers' sheaves of wheat bowing down to his sheaf of wheat. I won't do that again. In spite of everything it got me - not badly but it got me nevertheless. I say leave it in...
  14. Food that is naturally gluten free such as fresh and frozen fruits and produce is actually less expensive than processed foods. You do not need gluten free replacements. Since you are not sure what to think of her philosophy yet let me help you out. If your gluten sensitivity is caused by celiac and not something else (leaky gut, Lyme, parasites...
  15. You are following doctor's orders. That should be sufficient for anyone. (EDIT - I see Janet already said that! ) Spend some time reading in the parents section about how people have solved problems with kids at school, both with monitoring what they eat as well as what they come in contact with such as crafts made with food and all that. It should...
  16. Dinty Moore beef stew comes in pop top cans and is gluten free. Also Lara Bars are good.
  17. Actually this is the least of your worries. Shop the perimeter of your grocery store where the fresh and frozen meats and produce are found. They are healthier and less expensive than processed foods anyway. You do not need to buy any costly replacements. Hope you are feeling better soon.
  18. It's a fairly safe bet you were glutened at the restaurant. Something in a sauce or marinade or coating no doubt contained wheat, touched wheat or was handled by someone who touched wheat and then didn't wash their hands before they touched what you ate. Eating out is like walking blindfolded through a mine field while playing Russian Roulette with only...
  19. I am nowhere near as sensitive as some people and I will buy products that are produced in a shared facility - at least until I get burned by that product. I have learned the hard way not to buy products produced on shared equipment no matter what they claim. I tend to agree with Jess. Just let us know what we are buying so we can make an informed...
  20. Really urge them to check it. This morning during the "meet and greet" time at church one of the ladies came up to me with a big hug and thanked me for sending an e-mail about the beds to the church body. Her husband has been having sinus problems that were not responding to anything and she had been praying for healing. You guessed it. She...
  21. Deb, most local TV news stations have investigative reporters who would just drool over the opportunity to expose something like this. Have you thought of contacting them?
  22. According to the Modern Marvels thing on corn, the kernels of what we buy to eat fresh, canned, and frozen, have a rounded shape. The kernels of corn for everything else corn is made into (and yes that is most of the corn) have an indented shape kind of like a tooth molar. Just different varieties.
  23. OK. I still haven't sat down in front of the TV again. (The Remote Control Master is watching college football.) But here is a link to the web site referred to in the commercials. On that page are links where you can actually watch both commercials as well as view magazine and TV ads. There are also links to what I'm sure is more Pollyanna propaganda...
  24. You would ask that! I'll pay attention next time I see one and let you know.
