  1. I like that it gets a good rating on Skin Deep but unfortunately money is a big issue and Cleure body lotion costs more than 100 times per ounce ( ~$2.75 compared to less than 20 cents) than what I can get at Walmart. And that's before figuring in shipping.
  2. I have always heard these referred to as "allergy shiners." Mine have not gone away or even diminished. But I keep hoping!

    ARCHIVED Sprouted Wheat Bread

All together now, 1 - 2 - 3 - NO-O-O-O-O! Wheat is wheat is wheat, and unfortunately it doesn't matter if it's sprouted or organic or whatever, it all contains that nasty gluten protein. Sorry. Food For Life - the bakers of Ezekiel Bread - does have a gluten free line of products. You can usually find them in the freezer section of your...
  4. Overall I think Pepto Bismol is a pretty safe product. I remember as a kid we had a dog who ate something she shouldn't have, with predictably disastrous results. At the time we were at our cabin on a small tiny island in Puget Sound. The dog had taken her dry heaves and crawled under the cabin as inaccessible as it was possible to get. The last ferry...
  5. I did that too - and was a bit overwhelmed at the number of variations. My experiments tend to turn out badly (which is one reason why I have the mix!) so I was hoping to capitalize on someone else's experience here!
  6. And here is a quote from the page the above link goes to: That opens up a whole new category of contaminated possibilities.
  7. I have a package of Gluten-Free Pantry French Bread Mix and I would like to make sour dough French bread with it. I have found many recipes for the starter mix, so I am guessing all I have to do is add some to the package ingredients? Has anyone ever tried this? Which starter mix recipe did you use? How much sour dough mix did you add? Any other...
  8. He starts chuckling under his breath. So what? As he already thinks you are crazy and neurotic, ordering something you think he might approve of but you know will make you sick isn't going to change his opinion of you. Or that you will get sick. You will never change his opinion of you by what you order or don't order in a restaurant, and he doesn't sound...
  9. I had not heard about this one, but this morning I saw a report about a recall of instant flavored coffees and tea. Here is a link to that one: Open Original Shared Link
  10. There is a blank box at the top left of the page. Type Glutenease into it and then click on the box to the right that says Search Site (Google). You should fine several threads. One in particular is quite recent, very long, and at times a bit contentious. And as the others pointed out, deliberately "cheating" is a really bad idea. Why would...
  11. Remember all those posts and threads about Hershey's refusing to tell people what they were eating because of "proprietary issues?" Not only are they still at it but check this out: Open Original Shared Link Um - almost leaves you speechless. Sheesh.
  12. If that's all it really is, just buy plain old Mission brand tortilla chips. They are gluten free. Looks like Patti and I were posting the same thing at the same time. Great minds think alike!
  13. Being a WAMU account holder, I read with interest the article on the front page of this morning's paper. I knew that shares of WAMU stock had fallen (tanked, actually) from many dollars per share to a few pennies per share, but nevertheless was shocked to read the statement, "Shareholders and some bondholders will be wiped out . . . " Wiped out...
  14. You are probably right about being something that you bake. Personally I can't handle rice bran. That eliminates (for me) a lot of the mixes and recipes because they are made with brown rice flour. I like brown rice but it doesn't like me. Others have posted that they cannot handle tapioca or the bean flours or yeast. Maybe you could post...
  15. It is my understanding the school is legally required to provide a safe environment for every kid, and you have every right to demand that they do so. Search the board for other posts on 504's. Start the process of getting one for your son and absolutely insist there be NO food on the schoolyard playground. You should even be able to request that each...
  16. I thought I had read the label but I guess I didn't read it well enough cuz there it is on the 6th line up from the bottom: Triticum Vulgare (wheat) Germ Oil. We won't discuss how many bottles I have bought on sale so I could save a bit of money. And of course I no longer have the receipts. I hope the ladies at the homeless shelter like...
  17. You might consider having a gene test. Depending on the results you kids might respond to that as they each have half of your genes! Also print out some of the damage that can happen from long term undiagnosed celiac. They might listen to that, too.
  18. Many people who are able to eat food processed in a shared facility cannot eat food processed on shared equipment. It just depends on the company and how well they clean the equipment after making something containing gluten and before making something that is supposedly gluten free. A lot of people have had problems with Frito Lay products. You might...
  19. Providing you can stay well, it sound like a great experience! Read Open Original Shared Link thread and PM the thread originator for more ideas. She sounds like she has been doing it for awhile.
  20. I have Dinty Moore beef stew for lunch at work lots of times. It comes in a handy pop-top can.
  21. It's my understanding that you should have one in place *before* you need it. "As it stands right now" could change tomorrow, next week, next month, and definitely next year. Continuing to provide all of his food is far and away the safest route to take.
  22. PLAIN fries cooked in a dedicated fryer are usually OK unless handled by someone who has previously handled a bun. SEASONED fries are usually NOT OK. Most mayonnaise is OK until someone sticks the knife back into the jar while making a sandwich. You need your own jar or at least one of those upside down squeeze bottles.
  23. Put something in place to assure compliance without putting your daughter in the position of tattling that Grandma took her somewhere else.
  24. Congratulations on your new daughter! Many of the items you listed are readily available in gluten free format at health food stores. These would include cereals, crackers, pastas, some cookies, etc. You may need to make some of your own at home. Search the board for recipes and you should find lots. Would they be willing to serve just Rice Chex ...
