  1. Open Original Shared Link is a thread I started that discusses my apprehensions about spending about 2 days at the mercy of total strangers who knew literally nothing about gluten intolerance. At no time did anyone ever bring up the topic of diagnosis. I just told people what I could eat and what I couldn't, and how what I could eat needed to be prepared...
  2. It sounds like you had plenty of symptoms and no one - including you - connected the dots. LOTS of people don't have gas, for instance. But there are people who have few if any symptoms but severe intestinal damage. There isn't a total correlation between symptoms and amount of damage. Here is info on hysterectomies and prolapsed uterus....
  3. Read this thread: Open Original Shared Link Grand Champion Banana Bread doesn't taste "awful." Certainly if you can't make this for yourself, someone in your family can make it for you. Also, Pamela's chocolate cake is very good and takes no more effort than any other cake mix. Furthermore, if you are a diagnosed celiac, you have family members...
  4. Maybe your screen looks different than mine, but to me "obvious links" are blue and underlined as in the two AdSense ads near the top of the page. What I see is neither blue nor underlined. All I have is plain charcoal text that looks no different in any way other than maybe a slightly different font from what I am typing right now before I get fancy and...
  5. WHAT new post button? I have never ever ever seen a "new post button." Directly to the right of a bolded "My Controls" it says "View New Posts" and by hovering my mouse over those words I discovered it is a live link, which no one would ever guess by just looking at it. But this is not a change from my first day on the forum. It has never been...
  6. People keep mentioning "buttons" as in "log out button" or "new post button." I have *NEVER* had either one. I have only had links. So I gotta ask, WHAT BUTTONS? Am I supposed to be seeing buttons? How come I only see links? Is everybody else special and gets buttons? (snivel) For what it's worth, I'll be happy with links forever...
  7. Did you have your teeth cleaned? If so, and the cleaning compound was flavored, that might have been it. I believe you can request a gluten-free one for next time, although you may need to do it in advance to be sure they have it on hand. I think Whitestrips are OK.
  8. I found this link and thought I'd share. Open Original Shared Link By David Zinczenko, editor-in-chief of Men's Health and author of Eat This, Not That Just a few clues in case you ever wondered why America has become so fat and unhealthy . . . . This might also make you feel better about not wanting to eat out. Your inner excuse is...
  9. No. Proof that we can eat better than anyone else! Congratulations to your daughter. Some of those judges can be very hard to please!
  10. But apparently at some point in the past they spammed the board often enough with advertisements of their own that the mere mention of their name triggers the "Lame Advertisement" phrase. It was Scott's way of teaching them that continued spamming was futile. From what I understand, you can circumvent the problem by putting dots or dashes between the...
  11. It sound to me like butter is just the tip of a really disgusting ice berg. How many of us go out to eat when we want to give our immune systems a good workout!
  12. Only gluten free stops the damage being done to your body, whether you have ever had any symptoms or not. The symptoms you may or may not have are not good indicators of how much damage is being done internally. Your goal should be to stop both symptoms and damage.
  13. I am back and everything went so well! On the plane trip I took frozen banana bread and trail mix. Tossed my pennies per bottle water on one side of security and bought dollars per bottle water on the other but I didn't get sick! I had corresponded back and forth with the host church about my needs, and when we got there they had cooked...
  14. If it turns out this pill does contain gluten, pm Rachel--24. I'm almost positive she posted somewhere that she had some medications specially formulated just for her according to her sensitivities, and I think others may have had to do that as well.
  15. Yes yes yes to all of the above, but eating organic and using non-toxic cleaners is not living in a bubble. It is just wise and something everyone should be doing. In fact, such products are available from many many sources, and the reason so much is available is because there is such a huge market for it which means lots and lots of people are living...
  16. Your post is an advertising campaign's dream come true. All the food ads you see on TV are carefully crafted to make you believe that by buying and eating the product advertised you are doing the right thing for your family and your health, which of course everyone wants to do. The goal of every advertisement you see or hear is to separate you from your...
  17. I would suspect the grinding machine. Who knows what else has been put through it and someone may have ground some gluten-containing flavored beans.
  18. If you plan to continue baking as you are baking now, look at which kinds of flour you are using the most of now, and buy that in bulk first. Work on down from there.
  19. Wow. Prayers for you! It sounds like what you've doing hasn't been working too well so hopefully this will be the right change.
  20. Chris, it is not wise to call something garbage when your own lack of understanding is the problem. If you wanted to post that you didn't understand how the guide could say a product was gluten free when it contained MSG because you thought MSG was a source of gluten, that would be OK. Your post would be stating your concerns from your perspective rather...
  21. This is a partial quote found in the opening paragraph from the link you provided. Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic, painful, degenerative inflammatory arthritis primarily affecting spine and sacroiliac joints, causing eventual fusion of the spine; it is a member of the group of the autoimmune spondyloarthropathies with a probable genetic predisposition...
  22. But you can buy a can of compressed air from any computer or office supply store!
  23. I got this link a long time ago from a Desert Storm veteran. It's more than a bit scary. Open Original Shared Link
  24. I have not seen this product is stores for a very long time, but I believe it was reformulated so that it is no longer sweetened with barley malt. In other words, the entire farm field to grocery store shelf process has not been scrutinized and micro-managed to insure gluten free status as is the case with Rice Chex, but the one gluten containing ingredient...
