  1. I am so sensitive to airborne wheat and gluten that I have reactions to boiling noodles and cooking bread. My gut swells (not in my head) and I get the all-too-familiar rush of strange feeling through my stomach, which I used to think was panic, but now only have when I am exposed to gluten. Maybe I have an allergy or severe sensitivity, but I KNOW this...
  2. I'm making: Sugardale ham with apricot glaze with soy sauce Scalloped potatoes Garlic stir fried green beans with french fried onions sprinkled on top Whipped yams with butter, cinnimon, nutmeg & ginger - and a little brown sugar (my fav) Chi-Chis Sweet Corn Cake - served warm an olive/pickle dish Deviled Eggs with Weber's mustard and Frank's...
  3. Yeast and all types of mold affect my neurological system and make me angry and mean. In a big enough dose, it makes me crazy (otherwise, I am a stable person...really!). When I start to get this way, my husband and teenage sons are like, "what did you eat! - what did you get into!"
  4. Unfortunately, we all need to remember that not all of our symptoms come from gluten. You might have a digestive issue with corn (very common). I can eat corn in some forms and not in others. I am able to tolerate the Tostitos Gold, but not the others. I can't eat a ton, but I can eat a handful. The corn in the Gold chips are ground up super fine. Or...
  5. If you are diagnosed, you will find that in time all of those gluten-filled habits will be a distant memory! Hopefully, with the right frame of mind, they will not even phase you because you will find new favs. This is what I eat: Fruity/Cocoa Pebbles Enjoy Life Berry Berry Granola - cooked in hot milk Nutty Rice (yummy and filling!) Enjoy Life...
  6. It might be something in your environment. I had a similar thing - half-inch raised area on my cheekbone and no one knew what it was. We found out that it was mold in the house we were living in. It is going to take investigation on your part - new soap, new make-up, new cream, new shampoo (not all at once - one at a time so you can have a controlled test...
  7. I will make sure I dig deeper before posting another list - I am so sorry! I don't want to gluten anyone.
  8. LaChoy soy sauce is gluten free. Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce IS gluten-free.
  9. This is a good thread! Hormel is truly a friend of the Celiac community. Dinty Moore is easy to crack open and heat quickly. While it isn't perfect, it is good in a pinch. There are many other shelf stable foods from Hormel that come in the little plastic containers and are in the same area in my store as the Dinty Moore and bean. I also eat Healthy...
  10. Lays plain chips are gluten free, as well as many other varieties. If you are allergic to corn, you might want to choose another brand. In the future, go to Google and type in the product you are interested in and "gluten free." Most of the time you will find something on it, either from this list or the company. You will find that your best friend will...
  11. I love Enjoy Life granola cereal - it is great for constipation. I heat it in milk and it tastes kind of like a bowl of oatmeal. It's good cold, too.
  12. I totally agree that a formal allergy test is in order, as nuts are nothing to mess around with. I get that exact feeling when I consume or am around anything with excessive mold. It has been a common feeling in my life. This is an allergic reaction for me. You might consider cutting almond/peanut butter out of your life for good anyway because who wants...
  13. Do you have any recommendations for detoxing?
  14. I just had an HUGE metal filling removed and the peices were flying all over there was so much. I had a gluten reaction that lasted for a few days. I wonder if this was the compound the put in the tooth after the metal was removed, or the actual removal. Any ideas? I also have over 10 fillings to replace and I am going slow - two every other month....
  15. Viactiv Chews are gluten free - I called them.
  16. Can you make sugar snacks? If so, Chex or Cocoa Pebbles make great "rice crispy treats." Maybe try celery w/cream cheese and raisins on top (ants on a log) - might be messy, or just little raisin boxes. Cut-up apples with one wrapped carmel each. Individual baggies of chips or corn chips w/cubbed cheese. I love popcorn/carmel corn/popcorn balls. Maybe mini...
  17. I also have problem with Fruity Pebbles, as well as Cocoa Pebbles and Chex. I figured out that it is the mold that collects during the storage process, not gluten. Mold allergies can mimic gluten because it can involve the intestines and nervous system.
  18. I understand how you feel. I have nut allergies and am a celiac. I had a terrible time finding nut-free flours. Ener-G has nut-free flours. I use corn starch to bread chicken for frying (perfect with garlic powder, salt, paprika). I also eat a lot of food from Enjoy Life. We keep a nut free house, even though I am the only one allergic! We also have...
  19. I absolutely LOVE Enjoy Life! The Carmel Apple is so yummy. You can find them here: Open Original Shared Link I also love their granola cereals. I am nut free as well, so that makes them even better for me.
  20. Muscle testing isn't for everyone--that is for sure. It works very well for me, and it takes practice, patience, and an element of belief. I do feel strongly that we should check the labels, but sometimes it is the chemicals, additives, or other allergic reactions that can get us from a food or product. For those who choose to give it a try--good...
  21. I use a technique EVERY TIME I buy new food or products (shampoo/soaps, etc...) that has literally saved my life. I have gotten so good at it that I can tell if my body will reject something just by holding it in my hand (if I will have a huge reaction). It is called muscle testing. This ancent and proven techique works with the energy of the food or product...
  22. Lisa, I too, react to a crumb on my counter. I cannot eat Rice Chex (even with the "gluten free" on the box) and I think I know why. I have similar reactions to mold as I do to gluten. Rice Chex, I found out, are housed in a way that allows mold to grow. I even found a couple of purple ones in the box. When I finally put it together, I quit eating...
  23. I take Viactive soft chews. They work well for me.
  24. Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles are gluten free, but addictive--so be careful. Rice Chex are also okay, but look for the label on the box that says, "gluten free." Dora and Li'l Einsteins are gluten free, but I can't find them anymore. Cream of Rice is also okay for a hot cereal. Stay away from any cereal with oats, as they probably are cross contaminated. Pebbles...
  25. I have been using Armour for 8 years and tolerate it fine. I had to stick with it, work through the tweaks, but it has been great for many years. I am VERY sensitive to gluten, so I feel comfortable that there is none.
