  1. My Mother has Celiacs, so I know where I got mine from.
  2. Yes, it is great to be fully aware of what we put into our bodies.
  3. Oh, I just remembered that my one support group leader said that if people visited here (Atlanta) and asked that whatever-its-called Celiac support thing for help they would get her number and that if any of us needed help in traveling that we should cotact them and they would direct us to a leader in that area. Here is a list of USA groups. . .I forget...
  4. Oh yes, you are right. If someone can't tolerate goats milk (which is easier to digest) then it really could be casein. I asked my doctor specifically about casein and she sat and explained the differences but was very clear that it wouldn't cause damage. Sigh, I don't know! I will ask her about it again and for information on it when I see her. That...
  5. It is ALWAYS a good idea to contact the company. Most have a number right on the back. When I am at the store and find a new product I take out my phone and ring them even if I am pretty sure it's glutenfree. You can offical product websites and e-mail them if you want to research things before you purchase them. Good luck!
  6. "fogginess" in my vision, confusion, light-headedness, even hearing my heartbeat sometimes, a bit of nausea sometimes." I get all that, too. Are you making sure to eat right (not just glutenfree), taking vitamins, and such? You should talk to your doctor about these symptoms, as well. I'm glad to see the diet is working well and making you feel better...
  7. They don't seem too odd. . .call the company to make sure though!
  8. You can put in fruits and vegetables. Boar Head lunch meat. . .use rice breads. . .I like to toast them and take them with me places. . .rice bagels, too. Be careful with Frito-Lay brand, some people have trouble with their products. There are gluten-free cookies and fruit bars. Just go to your health food store, ask for help and see all the yummie things...
  9. You should reall call the company and ask them. Good luck!
  10. My Mom told me to read this Stone Soup comic in today's paper and it made me laugh! It was in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and I scanned it to share: http://home.comcast.net/~kmc3050/comic.webp
  11. It took me a few months.
  12. There are glutenfree communion wafers. You should see if your church will let you subsitute this, some don't. A little bit of wheat can hurt.
  13. While I agree with you on the milk you now buy and those eggs, all the research I have seen shows that there is no gluten in cows milk. A lot of people have issues with milk, and well it isn't thebest thing someone should be drinking, but it doesn't have to do with gluten. Humans and cows are a lot different when it comes to these things.
  14. I know that I am very sensitive to milk. Not even lactaid helps me. You could see if goats milk works for you. I cook with it and feel a lot better with that rather than cow's milk. I asked my doctor about casein and she said it isn't like Celiacs where we get damage. That if I didn't mind the symptoms when eating it then it was okay, unlike with gluten...
  15. When you say sugar and talk about sweets .. .do you mean powdered sugar or regular cooking kind? I know that I have seen powdered sugar which was not glutenfree. The only time sugar bothers me is if I eat too much or on an empty stomach.
  16. You could be right about the McDonalds thing. . .also it is so germy from all the kids that that may have caused her problems. She probably had her hands in her mouth, since she is three.
  17. Hello, Bob! I had (or still have) all those symptoms you described. I developed terrible anxiety after my diagnoses. My best advice would be to stick with real health food. . .the kind that lists everything and is real simple. . .no funky hard to read/understand words. While you know what you're having there, then you can start to learn more about other...
  18. If the diet is working well for you you can stick with it if you'd like but if you really want the test diagnosis then should eat gluten.
  19. Maybe she is having trouble with cows milk? Did she drink more than normal?
  20. Very nice, Susan!
  21. Shannon, If you made an appointment with your doctor for the tests wait until then (or move the appointments up) before going glutenfree. While awaiting the results you could try the gluten-free diet and see how you feel. It does take sometimes to become gluten-free but it could make you feel better. Keep discussing it with your doctor. A good thing...
  22. Wow, I am loking at her stuff right now!
  23. Maybe you should test the boys. My brother went through most of his life symptom-free but had Celiacs the whole time. It would have benifited him (and myself) to be diagnosed at an early age rather than the latter. You had all three of them at 7 months? Maybe it's something unique about you.
  24. Hmm, not really. . .where did you buy yours? I am sure that if I take that discription I would find the product at some bath store!
