  1. I took caprylic acid capsules to successfully get rid of my Klebsiella (bad bacteria) infection. Then I took high dose probiotics to restore the good bacteria in my gut. CA kills off everything. I use peppermint tea occasionally for intestinal cramps and drink ginger tea for indigestion or nausea. Ginger tea is also great for chills or when I feel like...
  2. I agree. Most toothpastes contain artificial sweetners, especially the alcohol derived sweetners which cause bloating, cramping and gas. However Tom's of Maine toothpastes for kids (Strawberry or Mango? flavors) do NOT contain any artificial sweetners or flavorings. I used those without any side effects for the past 3 years. BURDEE
  3. BELLYFAT: My other food allergies are dairy, egg, soy and cane sugar (ELISA blood test diagnosed). I had bad reactions to all those foods before test verification. So no surprises from my results, just peace of mind. I don't have a coffee bean allergy, so caffeine was just a stimulant for me. However, my husband who NEVER drank coffee showed a coffee...
  4. Yes, sensitive to caffeine. I react with jitters, rapid heart beat, feeling hungry and weak after consuming. NO, that sensitivity did NOT decrease after abstaining from gluten (or my other 4 alllergies). I drink caffeinated bevereages so rarely that even decaf coffee will keep me awake at night if I drink it too late in the afternoon. BURDEE
  5. I'm gluten, dairy, soy, egg and cane sugar free. So I use Annie's honey mustard, balsamic vinigrette and previously used low fat raspberry before they added cane sugar. Check the Annie's site for a list of which od their dressings are gluten and soy free. For a gluten free list, see: Open Original Shared Link If you see a dressing that sounds good, click...
  6. JULIEBOVE: THANKS SO MUCH for posting that soy sauce substitute recipe. I've been soy free for 3 years and never found a safe soy sauce substitute. My hubby has sesame (and 6 other) allergies, but can have soy. So I'll make that for myself or substitute peanut for sesame oil. HATHOR: Would you post a link for the "Yahoo group for gluten-free vegans...
  7. I don't recognize that variety of Wrigley's gum, but I know their other flavors are gluten free. However I stopped chewing both the sugar free and the supposed sugar based gums after I realized I reacted badly (cramps and diarrhea) to sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol and other 'tol' artificial sweetners. At one time only the sugar free gums used those sorbitol...
  8. I also have gluten, dairy, soy and egg allergies (plus a cane sugar allergy). However I don't always eat vegan meals. I noticed you were vegetarian. So will you now eat vegan (no animal products) meals? I do eat vegan meals 2-3 times daily, but try to have at least one meat meal per day. For my vegan meals I use combinations of legumes and grains (peanut...
  9. HURRAY for another open minded doc!! 3 years ago my PC, who had misdiagnosed me with IBS for 10 years, readily accepted my Enterolab results after I showed those and explained that a gluten, dairy and soy free diet had decreased my symptoms dramatically. This year I brought my PC my results from my ELISA test for additional allergies. She added all 5 of...
  10. My naturopath gave me the Comprehensive Stool Bacteria, Yeast and Parasite test kit. I did the stool sample at home and sent it via DHL to Doctor's Data, Inc. in Chicago. (There are probably other labs which process that test). I put my sample package into a DHL drop box within a mile of my house. In 3 weeks I got my results of a Klebsiella (bad bacteria...
  11. Actually I heard Dr. Fine speak about his research findings (with supportive data) at a local celiac support group meeting last April. He IS in the process of summarizing his data for publication, which he hopes will occur in 2008. He has soooo much data that the summarizing/writing process is very time consuming. Meanwhile he wanted to make tests (based...
  12. I'm sorry to hear you were a gall bladder misdiagnosis victim. My SIL also had a perfectly healthy gall bladder removed. There were no gall stones, just a healthy gall bladder. Her doc insisted that she MIGHT develop gall stones, had he not removed her organ. Her symptoms worsened AFTER the gall bladder surgery. She later was diagnosed with food allergies...
  13. Before I finally self diagnosed my gluten intolerance and then ordered Enterolab tests which diagnosed my gluten and milk sensitivities and celiac gene, I was diagnosed by various docs with eating disorders (anorexia and bulimia) and gastritis (with reflux). I also took many courses of antibiotics which were prescribed for bladder infections. Long after...
  14. The medical 'jury' is still out on whether eating nuts and seeds exacerbate diverticulosis. My naturopath told me to just avoid anything that seems to cause my cramping pains. So far only raspberries, flax and popcorn bother me. Strawberries, tomatoes, sesame and poppy seeds don't bother me. I already use nut butters and occasional tahini (sesame seed...
  15. We like TJ's light coconut milk and corn tortillas. My husband likes their soy milk. I also liked their prices on Pacific Almond Milk. Unfortunately Pacific changed (improved??) its almond milk. So it now contains soy, to which I have a diagnosed allergy. I avoid most TJ products because they contain my allergens. The carton soups all contain cane sugar...
  16. Strawberry plants appear in many places where we did NOT plant them. I suspect birds eat the strawberries from our 'patch' and the bird droppings contain strawberry seeds. Those droppings must include intact strawberry seeds which create new plants in those strange places. If seeds pass through seed eating bird bodies, I suspect many seeds pass through...
  17. Read "Dangerous Grains" by Ron Hoggan. He also describes how gluten consumption affects autoimmune disease symptoms. BURDEE
  18. Have you been eating anything with sesame seeds? Those pass through me and are easily recognizable in my stools. BURDEE
  19. See Open Original Shared Link Dr. Fine of Enterolab also believes that celiac disease is just one manifestation of a whole host of autoimmune diseases caused by gluten intolerance. Many studies show high correlation between gluten intolerance and autoimmune diseases like MS, rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, lupus, etc. However most research is funded...
  20. Crystal Lite is gluten free, but contains magnesium oxide, which can cause gas and bloating. I already take magnesium supplements (not oxide). So I'm very sensitive to Crystal Lite reactions. Instead, try sugar free Koolaid which is also gluten free. BURDEE
  21. I know everyone has different physical and intestinal reactions to gluten. However my gluten reactions felt like bits of broken glass stuck in my intestines, but my dairy reactions felt more like intense menstrual cramps. Do you consume dairy? You may have a dairy allergy (to the milk protein casein), rather than just a milk intolerance (to the milk sugar...
  22. According to Enterolab 10 is still positive. Less than 10 is negative. Read their explanation about thier 'cut off' numbers in their online literature about the test results. Why did you take the soy test? Did you have any soy reaction symptoms before you took the test? Had you been actively eating soy within a few months before the test? I experienced...
  23. The standard 100 food ELISA test does not test for paprika (a spice) or molds. You must have taken the spice version of ELISA or some other test. The ELISA test depends on antibodies to food allergens in your blood. Just as you need to gluten load for celiac blood tests, you need to be actively eating your 'reaction' foods daily for at least several weeks...
  24. Patti: If you NEED probiotics, because your 'good' intestinal bacteria are low or even depleted, you SHOULD react to them and not easily tolerate them when you first begin probiotic therapy. The new good bacteria change the way your intestines process food. If you experience no reaction or no difference, the organisms are probably dead or non-viable. I...
  25. I LOVE those titles for your culinary creations! I'll try telling my hubby "stuff" or "you name it" when he asks what I'm cooking for dinner. ROFLOL BURDEE
