ARCHIVED Low Vitamin D
Lizz7711 replied to Worriedtodeath's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think it's Douglas Labs that makes D3 drops, but not for sure on that...i'm sure there are other companies. Cod liver oil, lemon flavored by Carlson's, is good for SO many body systems as it contains essential fatty acids DHA and EPA that we get if we eat fish 3-4 times a week, but if not, it's good to take this stuff. It's good for the brain , heart... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing

Excellent points. I'm with you on the vaccine/autism issue. Unfortunately, I didn't get on a Health kick until after my daughter had had all of her vaccines, including chickenpox. I'm sure they have contributed to her intestinal issues, although she did have constipation etc before any vaccines so it's likely the mercury was the triggering issue and the... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Lizz7711 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You've given me alot to think about. I was previously thinking that there was not really any difference between my daughter's need to avoid gluten and my own. But since I have the celiac gene and she doens't, perhaps HER issues had triggers that caused the leaky gut that could actually be healed. So there's hope for her to eat normally one day (although... -

I second this! This is what I was going to recommend--carlson's cod liver oil, or D3 drops. -

ARCHIVED Am I Celiac?
Lizz7711 replied to McGreen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'd also try just stopping all dairy foods for a few weeks. MANY people get total relief of joint issues/arthritis, by cutting out all dairy. I'd also do the celiac panel as another poster suggested. good luck! -
ARCHIVED Gluten Enzymes
Lizz7711 replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Rachel, me again! Sorry to keep bombarding you with questions, but you seem to have such a good handle on all of this! My dad who is 76, has been suffering incredibly for a year now with postherpetic neuralgia in his arm...this is the nerve pain after having shingles. It hurts just to wear a shirt or to have the wind blow against his arm. I think... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Enzymes
Lizz7711 replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks, this is very helpful...i'll have to get some of this for my daughter. For myself, I do have some Digest Gold that I bought before I knew i had celiac disease so maybe I should actually start taking it. What is the reason that some enzymes are only for those without celiac? I never had the biopsy, and I don't have malabsorption, (but I do have... -

LOL, well there goes that theory! although...craving something often means our bodies have a problem with that food....so maybe there's something to the theory after all...who knows! -

Open Original Shared Link This is a really good forum, run by the same woman that designed the website the other poster gave you (stopthethyroidmadness), which you MUST explore as there is tons of good info on adrenal fatigue. Liz -
ARCHIVED Gluten Enzymes

Is the AFP peptizyde a powder in a capsule? I'm wondering becasue i'd like to have something my 9 year old can take (she's gluten sensitive, not celiac), i'm not sure about salicylates with her for sure so this one might be the best choice, but she can't swallow capsules yet. Also, how much would a child take if you happen to know? thanks Liz -

I remember reading somewhere that people with mercury poisoning do not like cilantro. I have always hated cilantro! And I do have high mercury and a mouth full of fillings. So the recommendation is to avoid cilantro I take it? And what about garlic? I love garlic, that would be a bummer. Liz -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Lizz7711 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Rachel, Thanks for all the great info and links, I will certainly look into all of it...I appreciate the time you took to write it all down! I need to print it all. I think you said somehwere you may start a "mercury" thread, that would be great. I had heard of Doctor's Data so i'll go with them, I'm interested in having my dad and my daughter... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Lizz7711 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Good point. But aren't there alot of people who DO just tend to have a problem with gluten and don't have the celiac genes? I know there are plenty of people who have multiple issues, but I guess I was under the impression that many people are having issues like osteoporosis or nerve issues etc, who do not have the celiac genes, but for whom gluten is attacking... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Lizz7711 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think theere is a chance that you are right on about the leaky gut being the main issue. But I also think it's possible that they just haven't really identified all the genes connected with celiac....or they have limited the term "celiac" too narrowly. Or they need to just officially have a medical diagnosis of "gluten sensitivity" of which one manifestation... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing

Hi Rachel, Thanks so much for all the information! The chelator was DMSA. Why is it that you can't do chelation while you still have fillings? I would think it would help to lower the amount of mercury in your body at least somewhat. When i'm ready i'll do the research to find a good dentist to do it the right way. I'm almost scared and thinking... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Lizz7711 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Rachel, What do you recommend for getting rid of amalgam fillings? I've got oh, I think about 12 or 13 in this mouth...and most of them cover the whole tooth. I had a urine provocation test of metals and the mercury was elevated but not alarmingly. Lead was higher. And the synergy of those two is not good. i'm 42, just recently diagnosed celiac, have... -
ARCHIVED Grandchild With Disruptive Behavior - Undiagnosed Celiac
Lizz7711 replied to J Lee's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My 9 year old daughter's reaction to gluten (and to food dyes, aspartame, and MSG) are mostly behavioral, and it turns her into a completely different person, full of rage, hatred, lack of control, no ability to listen or reason, and talking of suicide, and attempted run aways (walked outside and came back in , lol). I was about to get a shrink when I figured... -
ARCHIVED Reflux - Colic
Lizz7711 replied to DebNC84's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Colic is most often due to food allergies as others have said, most likely to be dairy/soy. My sister in law switched to goat's milk for my niece when she was a baby with colic and it worked like a charm in her case. Liz -
ARCHIVED Testing
Lizz7711 replied to wadaman's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Enterolab doesn't do biopsies, they take a stool sample and test for antibodies. I think it's defintely worth going through their testing since they include a gene test, malabsorption test, and casein sensitivity test with the gluten sensitivity panel. With the positive blood test, you can rest assured you DO have celiac or gluten sensitivity and should... -
ARCHIVED What's Up With My Kid.?
Lizz7711 replied to missy'smom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The elimination diet is a good idea..he most likely has issues with dairy and soy which can also cause eczema. I'd steer way clear of things like m&m's and skittles because of all the food colorings. My daughter who is 8, has major behavioral reactions to gluten, MSG, aspartame, and food dyes, especially red#40 and yellow #5. I was ready to get... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Results For My 3 Year Old- And Vent
Lizz7711 replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would do the biopsy. Not for the diagnosis, but because they may find other issues and so it's good to have it done to be sure nothing else is going on. I'd go off all dairy, soy immediately as well because with such high malabsorption he is probably having antibodies to all kinds of foods and dairy and soy espeically can cause alot of problems. ... -

ARCHIVED I Think My Dd Has Adhd
Lizz7711 replied to ptkds's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Check out www.feingold.org for info on kids/ADHD/food sensitivities. I was about ready to take my daughter to a shrink thinking she had Oppositiional disorder when I came upon that site and realized there are other reasons kids act this way than that they have "psychological issues". They have these issues because their brains are being poisoned daily, get... -
ARCHIVED Please Help, I Am Trying To Keep My Elderly Mother Alive
Lizz7711 replied to karonruiz's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi. Well, your post really hits home for me, my mother was in a similar situation about 5 years ago when she had diarrhea for about 9 months, was down to 86 pounds. They never did figure out what was really wrong...finally they told her to take pepto bismol 5 times a day and this did make the symptoms go away and she gradually gained weight. However, a...
