  1. (1) Bob's Red Mill pizza crust mix - add warm water, oil and eggs. I use my kitchen aid and it's super easy. Let it sit for 20 minutes before using, then i press out into a circle shape using greased wax paper above and below - makes a nice thick crust. (2) Chebe pizza crust mix - again, very easy to make with a fork and your hands. Roll it out into...
  2. i used to be a tinkyada, brown rice only pasta user!!! UNTIL.... i tried trader joe's brown rice pasta... i've tried both the fusilli and the spaghetti and they are far and away the best pastas that i've had since gluten-free!! not sure how they do it... the ingredients are only brown rice and water! hahaha
  3. i love that general mills is slowly starting to label more stuff as gluten free. this weekend i found that the new betty crocker frosting packages are labelled as gluten free! so awesome for making gluten-free betty crocker cakes
  4. i also love baked sweet potato wedges! YUM. This summer i made grilled spicy sweet potato thin slices... marinated with oregano, olive oil and chili powder... very good. but i digress... A great dish that I saw Rachael Ray make was a sweet potato sheperd's pie... looked awesome! You basically just boil the chunks of sweet potatoes and mash them up...
  5. hey great link! i've seen that video before and my mouth watered. i had been such a huge fan of the Chebe pizza mixes, but then I tried Bob's Red Mill pizza crust and loved it! It's very similar to the dough that Emeril is handling in this video. Anyway, I used the Bob's mix and made the white pizza the way that Emeril showed... and it was phenomenal...
  6. YES! i noticed this at my targets in NJ recently too... on one of the endcaps, they had a few gluten-free items, then the next week it was all full - bob's gluten-free oats, bakery on main granola, tinkyada pasta, annie's mac & cheese, among other items. nice to see finally! especially since most of their archer farms products are produced on shared...
  7. I've used FloraQ2 for almost two years now. Works great, and says gluten free right on the label. Open Original Shared Link It is expensive but worth it. I usually use it daily, but sometimes every other day. It can be purchased at drugstore.com, which makes it very easy to get.
  8. here's an idea... embrace the slow cooker like i have done! one of my favorites with tons of flavor is a very simple italian chicken stew, that i usually prep and serve with rice or some gluten free rolls. it's very easy: take plain boneless chicken breasts and cut them into large chunks (probably 4 or 5 pieces per breast). throw the chunks into...
  9. on a long flight when i'm leaving from home, i'll usually pack a sandwich on gluten-free bread, a banana and some almonds - all fairly light but filling options.
  10. i understand your frustration, but the main reason is that their "gluten free bakehouse" is only in one location and the finished bread product must be shipped to all of the stores. it would be way too costly for them to have a gluten free baking facility at each store location, so for now, i think we are stuck with the frozen products.... which are not...
  11. yup, progresso is one of the good guys. i also know for a fact that their broths are marked as gluten free on the cartons (at least the chicken and beef are)

    ARCHIVED Choosing A Doctor

Hey Guys, I figured it was a good idea to get some thoughts from you all on this topic. So I was diagnosed as Celiac by a new gastroenterologist (new for me) back in December 2007. After having my follow up in the fall of 2008, all was well with bloodwork, etc. As of January 2009, my health insurance at work changed from Aetna to United Healthcare, and...
  14. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  15. found the mixes at Wegman's in Princeton, NJ. purchased one of each.... made the brownies over the weekend and LOVED them... super easy and completely delicious!
  16. Pauliina - thank you so much for your reply!! I never thought I would get a response on this.... I found the link that you mentioned, actually i printed off all of the restaurants in the den Haag area. hopefully this will help me prep for my trip. I will certainly let you know if i have more questions! thanks again -
  17. hey pete! long island is a hike but maybe i'll try a local pathmark.... did you find them in the regular betty crocker baking section? or was it in the gluten free area?
  18. I know this is a long shot, but I found this by searching the website. I have a business trip coming up the first week of September to den Haag (the Hague) in the Netherlands, for a week. From the initial research I've done, it looks like Holland is fairly aware of celiac needs. I wanted to see if anyone is familiar with the den Haag area, that can help...
  19. has anyone found the mixes in NJ? i'm still looking and the rep that i got at general mills was no help at all! :-( my birthday is next friday, july 3rd and i'd like to have the cake mix by then
  20. hey tina, where in nj? also, what does he usually order there? i would love to eat there!
  21. I called General Mills just now to find out if they know when the Betty Crocker mixes would start showing up in the NY/NJ area stores, and the rep said "we have no idea, you'll just have to keep checking." When prodded further she said that "they were shipped to whatever store ordered them, and we have no control over when they hit their shelves". ok then...
  22. i'm live in north ocean county, but i work out in princeton... are you a new jerseyan?
  23. Let me first say that I completely feel that counseling can be beneficial in any situation where there is a "life changing" event or something that causes great stress and grief in your life. that is a very personal decision, and i really believe that talking to someone can only help... i really doubt that there could be any negative results. with that...
  24. happy birthday Pete! i'm hoping that they are in NJ before my birthday on July 3rd :-)
  25. i've called them before about their organic fruit strips and fruit bars.... they are totally gluten free and no gluten is handled on the machinery. they were very helpful and knowledgeable, just be sure you know the UPC # of the product so they can look it up.
