The betamethasone is what is helping; it's a corticosteroid and helps reduce inflammation. The clortrimazole is an antifungal...it's the stuff that's in athelete's foot cream. That's how I use it. It boosts the fiber in breads and muffins. I also make the kiddos a cheap hot cereal by grinding rice in my coffee grinder (I don't drink coffee!) and cooking it on the stove like porrige, then adding rice bran near the end. I'm with the previous poster. Half our family is celiac, the other is not. Any gluten is from frozen pizzas, bread, and snacks. The only gluten thing I bake is the big sausages of cookie dough, there's no flour dust in the kitchen! It will be easier for you in the long run to cook and bake gluten free. Thanks for the tips! Optimistic Mom, I have DH, which means I break out in a nasty rash when I eat gluten...I have absolutely no GI symptoms. Most DHers do have some villi damage, even if they don't have symptoms. The bowl of ice cream I had while watching Biggest Loser was the clincher. No more snacks after the kids go to bed for me! Blood sugar levels OK, I had a lot of bloodwork done recently and other than the celiac everything is fine. I take a multi (iodine free, I have DH) and extra calcium. Well, of you put lotion on your hands, then eat something, you are 'eating' some of the lotion. Those people with dermatitis herpetiformis (DH, the 'skin celiac') are usually a little more cautious about topical gluten, but most celiacs are just fine. Fresh meats and vegetables don't have to list allergens (Why? That is so ridiculous!), so call or ask. Perdue chicken has a list on their web site, and you can always go to the store's web site to see if they have a list of their store-brand items that are gluten-free. That's why I spend a little extra money and go to my local meat market; it's meat, no fillers...
