  1. Yes, keep the joints mobile, keep stretching and straightening to maintain flexibility, is the best thing you can do.
  2. Why do the rest of us stay? To help. If sometimes our messages seem like "tough love", so be it. But at some point, you all have to say "it is what it is", so I have celiac, big freakin deal. We're still here. Some of our members are battling cancer and some have passed away, but they never gave in to the whining or the "poor me" stuff for very long. They...
  3. Give GeeEff his MD degree now! He's about as right as any of our doctors are, except most of them don't even know of a correlation with celiac disease. The only answer to his advice is to carry a healthy baby to term with aplomb I hope you can 'weather' it out with gluten free pasta.
  4. It could be you have super sensitive taste buds All you can do is experiment because we cannot tell you what you are going to like, merely offer suggestions.
  5. When you say your vitamin panel was fine, what was your Vit.D score and range? If you have lost bone density at your age you probably need to be supplementing D. Unless you are above average, with osteopenia (which I am assuming - it might not have reached that level but no matter) you need to be supplementing. 5,000 iu/day to bring you above average and...
  6. Somebody out there loves us From Huffington Post: Open Original Shared Link Whole Foods has announced that by 2018, all products in U.S. and Canada stores must be labeled if they contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This is the first national grocery store to set a deadline from GMO labeling.
  7. To be honest, I don't notice the flavor. Of course, I put a lot of stuff in my smoothies - I've even put cocoa in. Strawberries, bananas, blueberries, almond milk, vanilla or other flavoring, it's amazing how - if there is a flavor you find objectionable (and I have never tried just plain hemp powder to find out what it tastes like) - it can be disguised...
  8. You might try asking around for hemp powder anyway?? Or you may be able to order it online?? Here's a place to start: Open Original Shared Link
  9. I use Trader Joe's hemp protein powder. Yucky color, but with plenty of fruit in it the flavor's fine (I always put in plenty of fruit ) I hope you are not one of those who has problems with TJ's. I buy his bags of frozen mango and use those instead of ice cubes
  10. That is a reasonable looking diet for a beginner - in fact, most of that I could eat myself (except for the corn, soy, potatoes, peanut butter, Bob's Red Mill, taco seasoning, black beans, green beans and peas.) Good point about the lactose - I knew I was intolerant to that before I identified even gluten . But with additional intolerances, they are...
  11. Hello, and welcome to the board! That is a bit of a dilemma, isn't it? I suppose the first place to start is to find out what you are eating and see if that gives any clues. We know you are not eating gluten, or at least not intentionally, but what have you replaced gluten with? If you've been reading around the board a bit, you will have seen our...
  12. Them is very eggy scones!
  13. Saw in the paper that Christchurch is sending a team to the world leggo robotics in Missouri this year, iffen they can raise the funds (on short rations the last couple of years )

    ARCHIVED Help!

There is also the possibility that when people say they "react" to something, that their reaction is to something else in the product and not to cross-contamination.
  15. Product reviews are always helpful and don't let we folks with green eyes put you off doing them I'm like GFreeMO, I long since gave up even looking in the frozen meal case (helps speed me through the store and keeps the dial down on my annoyance meter), but it's nice to know that others are being well served by the gluten-free food industry.

  17. Normally, the IgA testing is considered to be best for those who are IgA sufficient. The DGP is a newer test than the tTG, is more specific for celiac disease, and tends to pick it up earlier than the tTG. The low IgA results just show that those tests were negative. So long as she makes sufficient overall IgA, the low scores on IgA testing have no special...
  18. Hello, Celias Mum. Yes, the testing protocols are different wherever you go. Some doctors in the US use only the total IgA and tTG for screening purposes also, which I feel is a little unfortunate, since you CAN be celiac and not test positive on the tTG. On the panel that toworrynottoworry listed, it is necessary only to be positive on one of those celiac...
  19. I hope you won't think me flippant when I respond to your topic question with "Whatever you are deficient in." Because it is true. If you are not deficient in a vitamin, it is not going to help you. You are deficient in B12, D and Folic acid, that we know of, but you may be deficient in others by now, too. You need a full nutrient panel run, including...
  20. Welcome to the board, decemberhill, and I am sorry it looks like your post has been missed and overlooked Let me attempt to rectify. Your daughter's blood test results show that she makes normal quantity of IgA antibodies, and therefore the IgA testing should be valid for her. The most specific test, endomysial antibodies (EMA) is not positive...
  21. You didn't mention any biopsies from the small intestine. Were none taken? If not this was a mistake, because celiac disease usually is not seen with the naked eye -- you need the biopsy and the microscope. You need to get copies of all your test results from your (former) GI and see for yourself what they say and don't say. Any time you are gluten...
  22. We Don't Need Another Hero - Tina Turner
  23. Actually, it's even sicker than that. They just want to sell more product. They don't care either way
  24. I will keep my fingers crossed for you
  25. I tried to have a steak at a restaurant but failed - they were all pre-marinated according to the menu for the evening - gluten, soy sauce, whatever.....
