  1. You might not realize that anxiety itself is often a symptom of gluten intolerance. There are over 200 symptoms attributed to gluten, and many of them are shared with other conditions and could be caused by something else, so it really isn't possible to say, yes, celiacs have that so therefore you must be celiac, or no, celiacs do not have that and therefore...
  2. Hi, and welcome to the forum. Here are a couple of sites to check to get you started. The first is a list of unsafe ingredients you should look for on food labels. The second is a general introduction to living like a celiac. /celiac-disease/forbidden-gluten-food-list-unsafe-ingredients-r182/ https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/5-celiac-disease...
  3. With those results on those particular tests, I would think it is pretty definite that you are celiac. Whether or not you want biopsy confirmation of how much damage is up to you (and your health system/doctor). By the way, what rock did he crawl back under after making that caveman pronouncement? He is so totally wrong, of course. It's like saying you...
  4. Hello, and welcome. The first thing you should understand is that there is a difference between beginning to heal, and being healed. Obviously healing is the goal when one removes gluten from the diet, but that takes a while, longer in some than in others. In most, however, healing begins right away, and in some a period of three weeks can be enough...
  5. The tTG is normally part of the blood panel - in fact it is often the only test a doctor will run. You should get a copy of all your results.
  6. It is rare to find a dermatologist who is so familiar with DH that he is willing to diagnose without doing a biopsy; you may be one of the lucky (or unlucky ) ones. Certainly, from your pictures I would think it is DH too, from all the other pictures I have seen from diagnosed posters. The fact that you have the other symptoms also, and an official MD...
  7. It sounds like DS2 is being 'drip fed' gluten most days of the week, pretty consistently, so it may not require much more gluten to make testing worthwhile. For your own peace of mind it is probably a good idea to know one way or the other and as he goes through the school system he is going to find a diagnosis very useful if gluten is causing his problems...
  8. You do not need a GI doctor to test for nutritional deficiencies, so they must be considering doing additional celiac testing, like a scope to check for intestinal damage. Do tell the GI you are already gluten free; however, some of them don't know this affects the test results or will tell you to eat it for a couple of weeks which really isn't enough. ...
  9. Gosh, I have not had this problem myself, but have seen literally hundreds of posters on here who have either had, will have, or are having their gall bladder removed. Most often because of poor function. This is the first acknowledgement I have ever see re its relationship to celiac. I wish I could say that the posters say it makes them feel better...
  10. Sorry!! those leftovers are reserved and do not have your name on them!! The noive of it!!!! Who lets them do that??
  11. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there isn't somebody following you
  12. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
  13. Are you saying they won't test for celiac because your ANA is fine? This is a nonsense if so. ANA does not test for celiac. While it is a general autoimmune screen, it is designed to detect connective tissue AI disorders like SLE, RA, Sjogren's, etc. It tells you nothing about celiac disease.
  14. Slaps palm to forehead!! Can't believe yet another derm. screwed up a DH biopsy!!! Two minutes with Dr. Google would tell them how to do it..... I am so sorry. And let me guess, you took his advice and stopped eating gluten, so now testing is not available to you without going back on gluten for six weeks. And I am afraid that is the very sad truth...
  15. The most important page on the website is this one here: Open Original Shared Link (talking about Biocard here) Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but it is just now being explored by the medical profession as a possible useful screening tool. Not to say that it has no worth, but just so you realize that the results do have to be confirmed by a doctor...
  16. No, the magnitude of the number doesn't mattter, although gives a greater likelihood of a positive biopsy IMO. Be sure that your GI takes at least six biopsy samples to be sure.
  17. Hello, and welcome to the board. Yes, it is possible to have celiac without recognizable symptoms, otherwise known as latent or silent celiac. Many people discover accidentally that they have it when testing is being done looking for something else and the celiac screen is tossed in as an afterthought. The TtG test checks for autoimmune antibodies...
  18. The celiac tests are checking for antibodies to gliadin. But the nurse could have been referring to the ANA test (anti-nuclear antibodies) is a general screening test for a variety of autoimmune disorders (celiac is an autoimmune disease, but the ANA is not specific for celiac).
  19. The Tissue Transglutaminase is the one test that the doctors mostly rely upon, which measures antibodies made in the small intestine. While not completely specific for celiac disease, celiac is the most likely cause and your result was quite high. If the Gliadin IgA was the Deamidated Gliadin Peptide(DGP) (which was also quite positive), then those two...
  20. Now that's something else!!!
  21. Well, maybe not EVERY time or you would wear our your eyeballs, but more often than every three months!!!
  22. Awwe, Bingley sounds so sweet. Congrats on your new family member.
  23. Talk to us, Amanda. Tell us a little more about yourself and your symptoms. We are here to listen.
  24. Sometimes the biopsy results depend upon luck in selecting the right spot(s). Damage is not visible to the naked eye unless it is far advanced. Also, the GI needs to take a sufficient number of samples - 6 is usually recommended - to give a greater chance of hitting the right spot. Which of your blood tests were positive? Some are more specific for...
