  1. I'm not sure what the "this" is that she was talking about adjusting. Just fill me in a bit here because going back over your posts, I understand the problem with your two-year-old, but don't have a handle on the symptoms of the other two. Can you sketch in for me what led up to the testing?
  2. Doctors do have this "flashing" habit, if they bother at all. Most of the time they just TELL you. It is always a good idea to have your own copies of results for reference down the line. I get copies of all mine, and of consultant's reports. You really need to know what they're saying and doing. That being said, most likely the first test was the...
  3. Each lab sets their own ranges for the various tests performed. They will generally have a negative, a weak positive (equivocal), and a strong positive. The numbers can be different at each lab. You should get a printout of the lab results from your doctor for your own records, and if you would care to share them with us we would be happy to comment.
  4. Yes, the ranges have been adjusted for their ages. Here is what the University of Maryland and Columbia University have to say about the AGA-IgG blood test: "A positive AGA-IgG blood test indicates that the body may be mounting an immune system response to gluten ingestion, but it's considered less specific than other celiac blood tests. However...
  5. The AGA stands for Anti-Gliadin Antibodies and the EMA stands for Endomysial Antibodies.
  6. Well, now, maybe y'all better be super nice to me betwixt now and then, ifyouknowhwatImean?? Since I already got off the hook before you posted
  7. Mayo has this to say about an elevated ANA: "an ANA test detects antinuclear antibodies in your blood. Your immune system normally makes antibodies to help you fight infection. In contrast, antinuclear antibodies often attack your body's own tissues — specifically targeting each cell's nucleus. In most cases, a positive ANA test indicates that y...
  8. Welcome to the board, Emmpra. Although it seems like it is your girlfriend who needs to be here She has been very careless with her health. But it is not my duty to lecture on the known hazards of a celiac continuing to consume gluten products. It is my humble opinion that the chances of her symptoms being caused by gluten are actually quite high...
  9. Judging from your name, I assume you will be posting about your child. You might try the section called Parents of Kids or Babies, and start a new topic there. There is a Start a New Topic Button and a space for a caption.

  13. When your Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum is out of range, they usually run the IgG versions of the tests instead of the IgA. In your case you have had both the DGP and the tTG IgG run already. You would need the AGA IgG and the EMA IgG run. I do not know how low total IgA would affect testing for other autoimmune diseases. Interesting that you have a...
  14. Thanks!! (adjusts clothing). Just had to share this from Joan Rivers (read it while I was on the wall ) : When you're an old lady, it's hard to wear a short skirt if your nipples are going to show underneath it.

  20. . With cancer they are going to make more money off you, with celiac they are not.
  21. After five years, I did the first 'unknowing, unthinking' food-in-the-mouth bit just last month. Promptly spat it out because I knew it was gluten, and couldn't believe I had done it
  22. The list of tests below constitutes what is called the celiac blood panel: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA Sometimes it is hard to get doctors to run all of those, but do your best because they are all important...
