  2. The pay had better be good because I only fly business class
  3. Now we can't take knives on planes I have ended up with a collection of really useful knives bought in supermarkets where we've stopped for lunch - I always try to buy a type of knife I don't have already. Then it's bring on the cheese, the fruit, the lettuce, the crackers, slice some ham (and some toms for hubs). I always have some paper plates and...
  4. Also Lara bars, rice cakes, nuts, dried fruit (I love apricots and that extra burst of potassium comes in handy)
  5. Because of You - Kelly Clarkson
  6. Okay, upon reflection, keeping tradition in mind, I offer up my most humble apologies for breaking the rules and not warning of future potentially impending phluid exploshions. T'was sneaky of me and I will not do it again. There!! Does that helpt?? Sorry, Vynscent and Em. And upon further reflection I am just thinking, two dogs!! two standard poodle...
  7. Normally there are three parts to the range: for example, >5 would be negative; 6-9 would be equivocal or mildly positive; <10 would be positive. They usually put in this equivocal range because how can you say that 10 is that much greater than 9 ?? or 6 that much greater than 5. I guess you could call it a cover your butt range But I have never...
  8. Mom!!!!! Look what I'm being blamed for, and I wasn't even there And D'ya really think Vynscent's dishwasher would have heeded any warning (or Em's husband, for that matter ) Nope, I refuse to take the blame. But darn, I did think I could scoot that one quietly by and prove the myth is a myth
  9. Well, I do have to admit that that is a very confusing way to report a test result. It means that your antibodies are greater than 10, but does not tell you by how much. To be positive they would have to be greater than 20. Whether that score represents somewhere between 10 and 20 is not at all clear. They should be able to quantify an exact number for...
  10. My phlipover today was just a teensy weeny one
  11. No, a very low tTG IgA is not uncommon; it does not have any particular meaning except, standing alone, it is negative for celiac. It would have even less meaning if your total IgA was below range because we wouldn't even know if it was accurate..
  12. Oh ours were individually made too It was just the soaking and placing of the foam and greening of the bases with ferns and what nots to hide the foam that was done ahead of time (day before). It was pretty darned crazy. I hope all those honeys on the receiving end appreciated the d&#*ed flowers
  13. Ah yes, I did one of those Pretty darn repetitive stuphh mostly. No room in the coolers!! Pre-made greened containers stacked everywhere just waiting for the flowers to be jammed in Tempers fraying Trying to smile..... Fingers raw from previous days' rose-stripping Delivery breakdowns!! Are we having fun yet???
  14. Hello, and welcome to our place. The following is the complete list of the tests available to test for celiac disease: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA The first two are the older tests and many docs don...
  15. The only way to know is to have a celiac blood panel drawn. What makes you think it might be celiac?
  16. If you do not test positive for celiac, and if you are intolerant to gluten, you are called non-celiac gluten intolerant. There is currently no test for this condition (although they are working on it, now they have identified it )
  17. And... they call it "new" and "improved" Improved to the point where I can't use it any more.
  18. It looks like they ran all the important tests. Yes, Immunoglobulin A Qn serum is the total IgA. Since they already ran the IgG versions of the DGP and the tTG, you do not need any further testing; this is the additional testing they would do to compensate for your low IgA. If your biopsy was also negative (do post the results when you get them) then it...
  19. Glad to hear it You may well find that most of those things go away. However, you should have your thyroid function checked. Thee are the tests you should ask for: Hypersensitive thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) free thyroxine (fT4) free triiodothyronine (fT3) anti-thyroglobulin antibodies (anti-TG) anti-thyroid peroxidase...
  20. I guess the real question is how important is the testing to you? And since you are asking the question you don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. There are those who say you must be tested, you MUST know if you are celiac. But there are also those who say that a diagnosis is not worth making yourself sick for. You don't want to eat gluten...
  21. Hello, and welcome. Coldl feet and hands are often associated with hypothyroidism, and yes, hypothyroidism is a common companion of celiac. These are probably things that should both be explored by your doctor in my view. Celiac can also cause peripheral neuropathy, a tingling and numbness in feet and hands. Do you have any of the other celiac symptoms...
  22. There is no reason to wait! Just tell the doctor to give you the darned tests, and to give them to you now!!!! Don't let her bully you. You should read some of the stories of people who went (or tried to go) back on gluten after being gluten free. Absolute living hell!!! There is no time like the present for the testing because there is no agreement...
  23. I can't eat rice chex either (dunno why) and no legumes of any kind, black, garbanzo or green, or lentils or split peas (or green). No corn, no soy, no nightshades, no lemon. We just have to figure out what works for us.
  24. I am not a fellow DH sufferer, but I can tell you from what I have read on here from those who are, DH takes longer to resolve than practically everything else. Just when you think you have it licked, it pops up again and says, Here I am!!! Sorry to have to be the bearer of bad tidings but if you talk to Adalaide or pricklypear, or squirmingitch, they will...
  25. Yes, many of us do find we have other food issues to deal with after we cut out gluten; goodness only knows, I found enough of my own. If you are not yet one year in on this journey then you could still continue to have the occasional stomach ache, upset, for no known reason. If you see a particularl pattern, as you obviously did with the salicylates, then...
