  1. Isn't it amazing to find someone like that?!!! Shouldn't be, but it is I am so glad for your son.
  2. Yeah, that's what happened to me too. Well, not my whole life because I did have to give up some things before gluten, but I had never itched from foods before. First it was soy, then citric acid, then nightshades I gave up because of itching. All hidden by the gluten
  3. Hi Ephemeroptera, and welcome to the forum. I hope at least some of your symptoms have improved with the gluten free diet but sorry you are still having so many problems. First of not all people with rheumatoid problems test serum positive. My blood tests are RA negative, have been all along. But that is because I actually have psoriatic arthritis...
  4. After the baked potato itching wake up call, I realized that the residual itching I had had all along since gluten free (yeah, across the tops of my shoulders and back of my neck ) was probably coming from the potato starch in the flour mixes. Sure enuf!! That has been the hardest part, finding recipes that don't use potato starch (nearly all the mixes...
  5. Egads, that's awful!! Wean her off it...Had one friend who had two mini strokes while on HRT (attributed to the HRT), another who kept upping her doseage because she thought it kept her from aging and ended up with a DVT Wish I had never taken it; only did the Premarin for a year then did the "natural" stuff. Still sweated and palpitated just the same...

  7. Wow, thanks for that recipe. I have been searching for one that doesn't have potato starch flour in it. Will try it tonight.
  8. Hi, and welcome to the posting part of the forum, because you have obviously been around for a while. I think that deep down you know what you should do, but you just want someone to tell you to do it because you don't really want to. A lot of people have problems following the diet without the diagnosis, because it does deprive you of some things...
  9. Well, at least your bloodwork may give the other doctors some clues. I seem to recall in our discussion that you are hypothryoid. I am sure you have probably come across this yourself, but I found it very interesting... 10. I think she knows, that wee Alexis, that she has an international audience awaiting her arrival; drama queen already mentalpause *snort* Menopause lasts five years if you don't take HRT, five years if you do,....Eggsacly the same, seems to me; you just feel like you must be making a difference with the HRT Petered out, didja...
  11. I would just keep it simple; A good quality steak (barbecued or pan seared), maybe with sauteed mushrooms; a baked potato with whatever toppings they want, a really crisp salad (lettuce, red onion, avocado with a gluten free dressing--a vinaigrette of some kind?), and fruit and cheese platter for dessert (with some gluten free crackers if desired). That...
  12. Poooor psillies, hard times, especially the one in Hawaii :o As for the frisky Sawyers, methinks being king may've gone to 'is 'ead, and sum uvver 'ead too Lisa, that baby is going to keep you on tenterhooks for some time yet, methinks. All in her own good time, wee Alexis A gal who knows her own mind already!! I like that
  13. I agree with txplowgirl, the nightshades are inflammation-inducing and not good for people with arthritic-type pains. If you have upped your potato intake and eat a lot of concentrated tomato that could be contributing to your problem. Try cutting them out and see what happens. I didn't really think I had a problem with potatoes other than their inflammatory...
  14. Whether specifically linked or not (probably yes because of the leaky gut), many people discover additional intolerances after going gluten free that have been masked by the massive response to gluten. That is why there is so much talk on here about the elimination diet, to discover what these other problem foods are.
  15. If you get any help with your kidneys and edema, I would be very grateful if you would share it with us here. This is a battle I have been fighting for more years than I care to count, and it is getting worse instead of better with gluten free. I fear these docs might kill me some day with their "solutions", including those in the U.S., where I ended up...
  16. We have a new king for the next 100 97 pages, and we is just celebrating his coronation with the usual ribaldry bawdiness, we the members of his royal court.
  17. Almond milk is very yummy
  18. Hi Heather, and welcome. Your laundry list of symptoms should arouse your doctor's suspicions as well, I would think. Was celiac not one of the things he tested you for? By the way, you forgot Hashimoto's on your list, which is very common in celiacs. I would definitely ask him to run a celiac panel on you if only to rule celiac out before he goes on...

  20. Hi, and welcome to the forum. While your symptoms are not what one would consider a classic presentation of celiac disease, I have learned on here that the expression of symptoms is so varied I would never rule it out. I suggest you wait for your test results from Thursday, and ask your doctor for a copy of them, and then post the results here along with...
  21. Same here, and I don't think he's even gonna boffer, might get drownded And they are even mentioning the "S" word WIH? T'is nearing the end of October. Think of the poor wee lambies, forevvins sake Yay, Leesa, a happy event...nanahood She may be right, ya know. I was all tucked up in me bed and missed ya , but...
  22. I have been glutened three times since I gave up gluten, and each time it was by a prescribed med. In other countries where corn is not so plentiful, wheat is used a lot as a binder. Most of our meds seem to come from Europe (some via Australia, but on the European formula). So while your statement may be true for the U.S. it is not for the rest of the...
  23. I use grape seed oil a lot (high smoke point), and also coconut oil, although some people object to the taste of this; I love it. These are the only two oils I use besides olive.
  24. The citrus thing came on me later, with terrible itching. I stopped to think what, if anything, was different about my diet and realized that I had been drinking quite a bit of citrus juice (including with my Bacardi ) and it was citrus season here so had been scarfing mandarin oranges and using citrus as flavor to make up for lack of soy sauce, and the...
  25. Just a suggestion with the dairy, Mysh. It would, I think, be a good idea to first try just cutting out the lactose (milk, cream, ice cream, frozen yogurt were the ones I had to chuck) and still eat the cultured products in which the lactose has pretty much all been digested by the cultures. That way you will know if you are casein intolerant or just lactose...
