  1. Yeah, I wish I could have tried those, but Pamela uses potato starch
  2. Now, now, calm down a little bit, get your feet back grounded on the earth and relax!! Celiac testing is often negative in those who seem to have obvious symptoms. There are too many false negatives to shake a stick at. And even if you don't have the actual doctor diagnosable celiac disease, it would seem that you are probably at the least gluten intolerant...
  3. What I find funniest is to get a bunch of food intolerants together trying to make food for each other. We went out to lunch today at my housesitter's latest "sit" house. She wheat, dairy, and potato intolerant, me, gluten, potato (nightshade), soy, corn, caffeine intolerant, dh purely gluten intolerant, one person with ulcerative colitis and two "normal...
  4. I do wish you luck, Chetalrim. May your results be conclusive and allow you to act accordingly. I know, waiting can be agonizing. Don't forget, when you post your results, put in the lab reference ranges because Down Under ranges are expressed in metric measurements rather than whatever it is the U.S. uses. Thinking of you.
  5. I am also a snickerdoodle fan (dh hates them) and I also enjoyed TJ's gingersnaps and mini meringues.
  6. Not if I 'ave anything to say about it, which I obviously don't Been gone all day, but sounds like a kindergarten class whose teacher has totally lost control, and the kids are having a blast  As someone unaccustomed to the art of cussin' someone out, I is not used to this kind of langwidge but would appreciate you leavin' poop mushrooms outta...
  7. I did not know this. What is the relationship between thyroid and cortisol?? I am about to start low-dose synthroid if they can find anything gluten-free and my cortisol has not been tested.
  8. I am sorry, I have looked, but could not find the bottle; maybe I threw it out or perhaps did not even buy it... it was a while ago.
  9. I did not know what to make of the part about kidney disease. I have borne the diagnosis CKD for five years now, made in my still-eating-gluten days when my RA was being treated with diclofenac and sulfsalazine. They told me that the diclofenac had shut my kidneys down, that I was practically in kidney failure, and have always since then had problems with...
  10. Is there not some redundancy in here? Clay, having worked under several women who managed to break the glass ceiling, thinks they all belong in the category of jerks, and would add some choice other adjectives. Having heard some of the stories I would say that in his case he was not entirely wrong and not merely chafing under the female yoke. Public...
  11. Here you go: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...c=62243&hl=
  12. I will have to go back and check it out; will get back to you.
  13. Hi Ted: Can't help; I was just prescribed synthroid and my pharmacist says that they will neither admit nor deny the gluten; it's a crapshoot. I am going to try it, because there's nothing else here to take
  14. Each person with gluten intolerance has to answer this question themselves through trial and error. If you are one of the extremely sensitive ones, then you may not be able to tolerate products made on shared equipment, even though they cleanse the lines thoroughly before running gluten free products. Others of us can tolerate what small amount of gluten...
  15. That part about glutamic acid set off some alarm bells in my head too. For some reason I did not take the L-glutamine my ND recommended. Maybe it's just as well???
  16. Wow, Shannon, yours is a textbook story (not a medical textbook) of what so many of us face with our doctors, especially it seems with pediatricians, and it is on the pediatrics rotation that most doctors get their only instruction on celiac disease. Strange isn't it??? Good for you for persevering and saving your son so much misery.
  17. I was reading posts from the bottom up and responded to this issue in your other thread
  18. I notice no one answered your question about catching lots of colds now that you are gluten free. I found that immediately after quitting gluten I was very sensitive to any infection going around and caught it much more severely than usual (i quit it in November and was sick all of December and January with successively a three-week coughing flu, followed...
  19. It makes life really hard when we don't get the support we want from our loved ones. It is early days yet. We can hope that you can teach him how much gluten hurts you and how hard you are trying to avoid it; enlist his support in keeping you gluten free and see if you can win him over that way. That's the best I can offer. If he sees you are really serious...
  20. This was the most interesting and informative article I have ever read on the effects of wheat and its various amino acid chains and peptides on our bodies. It really does make one wonder if the FDA does not have tongue in cheek (or hand in national pocket) when recommending wheat consumption by the general populace. When I consider my religious adherence...
  21. I'm sorry to say that a lot of the time with pharmaceuticals it is a bit of a crapshoot. The pharma companies change their suppliers routinely, and a lot of the suppliers do/will not state gluten content so that the ultimate provider cannot certify gluten free. I just faced this issue with my pharmacist today. He had done everything he could on a new prescription...
  22. Hi mrsbam, and welcome to the forum. The short answer to your question is, yes. The longer answer is that many of us discover other intolerances after we eliminate gluten from our diet. It seems that the body is so overwhelmed by trying to deal with the gluten that it really doesn't have much time to tell us about the other problems going on until the...
  23. Good on ya, Ranger Susan! Yes, it is pharking hard, but well worth the effort in the end
  24. Welcome to the forum, K Dog. I hope you will find this place to be a home away from home and it is certainly an excellent place to find answers to lots of questions.
