  1. Have those blood tests ever included a celiac panel?? I assume since you are on this forum either you or your doctor suspect this? Not many NZ doctors test for celiac, though mine does more often now Just went back and reread your post; if you haven't been tested yet you should be right away. How long have you been off gluten?
  2. You will find many of us on here with lots of other food intolerances besides gluten. And for each person they seem to manifest in a unique way. For me, potatoes, soy, and citric acid are currently all making me itch like crazy if I eat them, sometimes with red blotches, sometimes without. Right now, for the first time in five years, I am not itching...
  3. Personally I have always been of the totally?? unfounded opinion that one's cholesterol level does not come about from the foods one consumes (like don't eat egg yolks and that kinda stuff) but on one's overall health and nutrition and the cholesterol one's body naturally produces. So I don't believe in cholesterol-lowering drugs If you cut out eggs and...
  4. Poor wee Max, but glad he's liking de fish; and Lyle's wackled out on Tramadol Right ingredient, wrong recipe Lost all me wackle today with two doctor visits!!, a boob sqeezin', a financial consultant consultation, a Starbucks coffee with no orange cake (all out, dey says), a Tj's session, and me head is hurtin'. Mebbe tomorra folks!
  5. I do not know which I am, celiac or gluten-intolerant, and it really makes not one whit of difference to me. My short-form history is that I first became lactose intolerant; then developed the gastric/digestive issues, then rheumatoid issues, then psoriasis. In researching rheumatoid arthritis I came across ankylosing spondylitis which actually is treated...
  6. Count me in as another high HDL(reasonable LDL), so a high overall number but great ratio. Yeah, isn't it nice to have something that is working for you??
  7. i just might be able to sleep like that???
  8. Yes, that does sound like one for me, but since I am going back to New Zealand in three weeks it's probably a bit late to start ordering stuff. Might try it next year though. Thanks.
  9. That does sound poifect, Em; a weeping mulberry. I wonder if that is what I had outside my sitting room. Clay kept cutting it back and I kept letting it grow because it drooped so gracefully and was trying to touch de ground; 'xcept it wanted it come in our windows too, so had to be restrained, but considering its growth habits now wonder if it wasn't...
  10. Thank you so much JoAnn. I will give that one a try. I spent most of yesterday searching on line and came up with this one; I made the flour mix #2 version and it turned out quite well. Gluten-Free / Wheat Free White Bread Not egg or yeast free Updated 6/16/08 Here are some flour mixtures I have tried so far. If you can not tolerate (or eat) rice...
  11. I am finding, more and more, I have to bake my own everything. Once you eliminate gluten, soy and potato starch, there is only the Namaste mixes left. Do any of you substitute tapioca starch for potato starch? If so, one-for-one? Or sub something else instead? Or have a good everyday bread recipe that you don't have to toast that doesn't contain the...
  12. Trader Joe's Dijon Mustard: "Water, mustard seed, wine (may contain sulfites). salt, citric acid"
  13. Lessee if I got this straight; change the chicken, water dead bird scattered over the livingroom, buy more cat food water, chase the neighbors dog dishes, laundry sweeping cat, hair everywhere--who threw up?; rug wash the shower, oh hell, just buy new weeds, recycling the cats...
  14. No, the limbozine is reserved to take us to Soozle's friend Peggles' house in February where we can all luxuriate and have our every whim catered to. Eminem is on a Canadian island somewhere but will be back soon; Knickers is vacationingholidaying in Turkey because they don't use Euros there, Amanda is long weekending or weeking, one or t'other, Joodee is...
  15. Good morning peeps! Woke up much earlier to the sounds of softly falling rain, so gentle and soothing. Put me right back to sleep. Squirrel was not happy though, pulling an Alan, Steve! in the tree outside me kitchen window WIH, rain at this time of year! All those people at the lake yesterday must have known something--the place was jammed full. But...
  16. You have every right to be angry! Doctors should be detectives. Imagine a murder scene where you have a female victim who has had her head cut off. There is blood everywhere. There is a bloody machete lying at the scene with bloody fingerprints on it. There is DNA all over the house, doorknobs, in the bathroom, skin under the victim's nails, trace hair...
  17. Yours seems to be an extreme case with any temperature under 60 degrees. My husband has this problem but it doesn't kick in until the temperature is below freezing. He is also celiac.
  18. I lost hair for years. Some of it seemed to be related to trauma and antibiotics and other baad medications, but I just kept losing it until I kicked the gluten out. Now my hair is much fuller (no more bare patches at the front that I keep having to bring more hair forward to cover, and as Patti noted, it is much shinier and healthier. I had forgotten...
  19. If your rheumatologist really thought you should be tested for celiac, I will chalk that one up as a first. I have had three rheumatologists, and not one of them believes there is any link between the two diseases, and therefore never even thought to test me. I had to figure it out myself, and they all are still nonbelievers
  20. I don't have a Sam Hill avatar because I don't have an avatar No images of me appear--maybe I don't exist??? Nevertheless I do steal Sam Hill when youse all are not looking
  21. Soozle, I agree with Patti, give this license number to the police and let them know your concerns. Did you not say you was in a gated community? Did the bicycle and the car get in by following others who opened the gate? This is concerning and do not dismiss it. Don't be unnecessarily alarmist but do not ignore it either... {{{hugs}}}
  22. Don't try roundin' 'em up; it's like herding cats. They'll come home at supper time
  23. I've just realized that none of us has really answered your question about getting genetic testing done through your insurance. A lot of doctors don't know how to order them or from where, and some insurances will pay for them with pre-authorization. See the following link: https://www.celiac.com/articles/21567/1/Ten...ting/Page1.html Hope this helps...
  24. Bah!! All we get is dry lightning and fires; a firefighting tanker pilot was killed today in a crash in Nevada...Of course it was over 100 degrees today Maybe starting to cool down tomorrow
  25. This man makes me sputter!!! I hope all those who have had positive diagnostic experiences read what the others of us have had to suffer through. The nerve of this idiot, revealing his ignorance in all its glory, and so damned arrogant and derogatory to boot!! With what you have already, positive blood test and positive dietary response, you don't...
