  1. I had to resign from my bridge club because every time I played I caught something from someone who had "the sniffles" and I would be sick for three weeks. (Germs all over the cards!!) Was sick for Christmas and New Year last year, first with the flu and then with acute bronchitis. Coughed for six weeks. Have been gluten free for a year and (touching...
  2. Gosh, I am so sorry for you and your friend. I send prayers your way that he can pull through this. He is young and strong; be hopeful.
  3. It is normal for symptoms to change/worsen after a gluten free trial. Constipation and diarrhea are both symptoms of gluten intolerance. I am so sorry your son is having so many problems. If I were you I would definitely continue gluten free. It is definitely not going to hurt him and it does take quite a while to notice improvement on a gluten free...
  4. It is really not until you realize that you have no one else to talk to about these things that you know how much you miss it. Thank you for keeping it running, Scott.
  5. Oh, I do feel so sorry for you. You're right, there is no one else to tell except the good folks here on this forum how much you are suffering. No one else gets it! Thank goodness we have this place to let off steam and vent our frustrations. This IBS b*##^@*t has got to stop. There is no such thing!!! I "had" that diagnosis for more years than I can...
  6. Thanks for your responses.
  7. Okay, here's the deal. I have psoriatic arthritis which I am sure came from my lifelong gluten consumption and failure of docs to diagnose me. I have been through all the treatments: cannot take steroids (i.e. prednisone), took methotrexate (darned near killed me), sulfsalazine and diclofenac (went into kidney failure from NSAID), Plaquenil (drove my psoriasis...
  8. I used to use an expression with my best friend who was coping with ovarian cancer: "It's not how hard you fall, it's how high you bounce." It does seem that, like a tennis ball, we keep losing some of our ability to bounce back the more we have to deal with. I am personally noting that I don't bounce as well as I used to, but keep trying to find that...
  9. Ain't that the truth. First thing to do is get rid of that darned food pyramid!
  10. I think that the letter has the right tone. But I think it should contain the signatures of only those who have had a connection/experience with Enterolab. While I would be interested in his response I don't think it would be appropriate for me to sign it. I personally feel that only those who state they want to sign it should have their names on it.
  11. Yeah, those were what I had on my upper arms. Different from the itchy ones on my hands, and definitely not DH.
  12. I used hemp milk while I was in Nevada, and I just loved it. Wish they had it here. (I'm one of the millions who have been told they had IBS
  13. My rosacea has gone away too. Now it only comes back with a glass of wine.
  14. "a totally gluten free grocery store" Now there's an appealing concept!!!
  15. I finally no longer have the rash on my upper arms that my mother used to tell me was caused by not eating my vegetables
  16. I feel that my awareness of being "intolerant" to gluten (no formal diagnosis) was like falling over a cliff into an abyss of the unknown. The only thing I know for sure is that I should not eat gluten. All the rest is guesswork. Is my arthritis and psoriasis caused by gluten? The rheumatologists don't seem to really believe so. Even though I'm supplementing...
  17. I usually have at least one of these intensely itchy little bumps on the backs of my hands and fingers, often several, although none right now. I have no idea what causes them. But then again I am vey much a skin problem kind of person!!
  18. Long pinkies don't protect you! Both of mine are considerably above the last joint.
  19. My DH gets gastro symptoms all the time with gluten, but has only had DH (I am sure that is what it was) once on one side of his forehead. His symptoms were just as you describe them. It was enough to make a believer of him not to cheat.

    ARCHIVED Itching

Add me to the list of soy itchers. It drove me cracy.
  21. I used to get this reaction when I had what I later discovered to be a candida/yeast overgrowth. Uhh.
  22. My DiagnosTech results showed a very low output of pancreatic enzymes. My Nevada ND prescribed enzyme supplements, but my ND here wants me to take Dipan-9, a supplement from pig pancreas to help kick-start my own enzyme production. I have bought it but not started it yet because I seem to have problems with most supplements, and am starting (against my...
  23. ED = explosive diarrhea (not erectile dysfunction ) RA = rheumatoid arthritis MS = multiple sclerosis
  24. Wendy, first of all welcome to the board. I was one of the gainers, inexorably over the undiagnosed years and never able to figure out why because everyone around me always seemed to eat more than I did. Often I couldn't eat even because I was so gassy. One of the greatest joys of being gluten free has been the weight loss, not dramatic but faster...
  25. Deb: Ask her some more questions about her fainting, whether it is associated with the gassiness and bloating, whether it comes on after eating specific foods, whether she is aware of it pending. For me it was always associated with pressure on the digestive system; often if I could have a BM and pass the gas and/or burp it up I could avoid it. (I used...
