  1. Can you have chicken too? I would tend to rotate between them if I were you. How about some salmon or tuna? You don't have to eat a whole meal of these things to try them. Just a mouthful or two and see how it goes. If it is all right, try it again the next day. See if you can add some more things in. As for the paprika, it is in the nightshade family...
  2. Yes, once you have started reacting to a food like tomato you had best leave it alone for about six months. I haven't actually tried any in a couple of years but this summer, from my own garden, I am having a BLT This is why (from experience) I recommend that you rotate your foods and don't eat the same thing every day (if you have enough safe foods to...
  3. Quite a few posters see an allergist for skin testing to find out what foods they are sensitive to. It doesn't mean they are allergic to them all - depends on how strong the reaction is. Twenty years ago I tested sensitive to soy and corn. Didn't take much notice at the time, but I definitely am, but not allergic.

  5. Some people describe celiac as an allergy too. A lot of folks when they talk about foods they react to call them allergies when they are actually intolerances. Diarrhea and bloating does not come from an allergy. An allergy will cause hives and rashes and anaphylaxis and you will definitely know if you are allergic. ETA: Tarnalberry and I were posting...
  6. I hope you had those poor cows in heated barns with heated cups My dad never made us milk the cows when it was snowing -- just as well, since I used to milk Moo out in the middle of the paddock wherever she happened to be, just took my stool and bucket along :D usually in bare feet until the day she kicked the bucket over and trod on my foot But she...
  7. Okay, sorry, didn't mean to pry into personal things. There are things we all have experienced in the past that affect our current reactions to things. One thing to keep in mind that there are "reactions" and there are 'reactions'. We all react, and have interpretations of our reactions in different ways. For some it is a big drama, for others, well...
  8. I Am Woman - Helen Reddy
  9. What kinds of reactions have you had in the past the makes you so anxious when you test something new?
  10. Two years in, I was in much the same place as you, minus a few more foods. It was suggested I still had a leaky gut and I dismissed the idea after all I had done and all the foods I had eliminated and all the supplements I had taken. Nevertheless, on expert advice, I went on a fairly involved supplementation program, the most important of which I believe...
  11. You can do the skin prick allergy testing for things you feel you might be allergic to. Mostly, though, we are just extremely sensitive to foods initially until we can get some healing going. But if you think you might have allergies to specific foods you should consult an allergist and get some testing done.
  12. I think we got us a willing snow shoveler - heck, maybe she luvs it so much we won't even have to feed her - it'll be too warm for Shadow inside anyway. And we can free up the cabana boys (glad you described what they are, IH ) for other duties. They can run up and down stairs (you do have stairs don't you? Love?)
  13. Your results are strongly positive. It is possible that they may (or may not) want to do the endoscopy with biopsies just to check what your level of damage is, and for that you still need to be eating gluten. Your doctor will probably refer you to a gastroenterologist for further work-up. Welcome to the board, and you may as well start reading as...
  14. Woman Don't You Cry For Me - George Harrison
  15. Unfortunately, no one really knows what non-celiac gluten intolerance can/does do to one because it has only recently been recognized as actually existing. Research is under way, but it is going to be a while before anything useful comes of it, I'm afraid. Formerly, you were told you did not have celiac and sent on your gluten-eating way.
  16. Okay, here's a way to highlight the gender equity pay gap: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/8013967/Men-charged-more-at-coffee-cart Coffee will cost 10 per cent more for men than for women at Wellington's Victoria University Law School campus this morning. 19. I will unload the dishwasher and be a slaughter observer (used to be good at that as a kid, haven't tried it lately) but you need strength to cut a throat, you need some OJ so to speak. Oh, and I will stir whatever needs stirring while LTT is busy doing something else --- and no, I will NOT stir THAT! - that doesn't need stirring. Oh, and we all...

  21. I was taking B12 injections every month; now I have one every three months. Must check my levels - cannot take the sublingualsl.
  22. Often following the blood test you are referred to a GI for an endoscopy with biopsy. For this procedure you still need to be consuming gluten. Wait for your results and see if your doc wants the pictures or, if you are not interested for yourself, keep your three-year-old on it so she can still get a confirmed diagnosis for her schooling years. You, of...

  25. Well down here, in Wellywood, in Middle-earth, in Wellington in the middle of New Zealand at the bottom of the earth, peeps is going nutz over elves and special effects and make-up and sculptors who sculpted all the tools and implements for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, as it is set to premiere this evening. The stars are promenading down the red carpet...
