I'm sure dairy can slow or prevent healing. My Mum (uk) has been gluten-free for two years and couldn't figure out why she wasn't getting better until she heard about the dairy intolerance connection. After only two months gluten-free CF she says that she now feels better than ever although she also figured that soy was pretty indigestable and possibly eggs...

Hi, Sympathy to you Lux, I got glutened Sunday night, still haven't quite figured what did it. My insides were so raw yesterday i could have cried. Thankfully the D you described wasn't too bad this time. This is my third month gluten-free and 3rd glutening. I have felt very good in between although I still don't have the energy I used to have a few...

ARCHIVED Newbie Introduction And Question For The Ladies
Gwen B replied to ksymonds84's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I've been gluten-free for almost three months and yes I did find that my bowel movements took a while to adjust. I used to almost always have mild D before the diet. After a month gluten-free I realised that the gas anc stomach pain was actually due to dairy intolerance. I gave those up and then gave my body time to adjust again, this time mild C especially... -
I have total sympathy. I'm also suffering today. Woke at 2am and couldn't sleep beacuse of nausea. Now I just have extreme tiredness and my inside feels all beaten up and raw. I am drinking a ginger Yogi tea unsweetend and it seems to be settling although I really don't feel like eating. Is Coke gluten free? flat coke used to be good for nausea and my mother...

when you can't get an appointment to see your or any other doctor because you can just email your symptoms! When after doing this the Dr replies by email that it can't be celiac because the single tTg test taken 18 months ago (before symptoms got worse) was negative and there are no other tests! When the Dr. says to come back if you continue to...

Eggs? Or have you checked shampoo/shower gel/moisturizer. I found that my dry skin spots cleared after changing to gluten-free cometics that are also soy free, usually tocopherol/tocopherol acetate. Try it and see.

that depends on your insurance! It's a real minfield. But you should write down your questions so you can quiz your allergist. That will be a good place to start.

I had a scratch test and it showed soy but the Dr admitted that it would not necessarily mean that I couldn't eat cooked soy as heat can destroy certain allergens. He did emphasise that this test would not give any indication of a food intolerance. I seem to be better without soy based cosmetics (tocopherol acetate) but am still clueless as to whether my...

I've also always loved cheese but don't miss it so much now that my throat is always clear and sinuses never gluggy. I seem to have at least a topical allergy to soy, one sip of a soy drink and my mouth furs up and throat swells, even lipsalve makes my lips sting and peel. so I'm avoiding doing too much soy although it seems to be better when cooked. I think...

ARCHIVED Lachoy Teryaki Sauce
Gwen B replied to buffettbride's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would seroiusly avoid MSG. It's not so much that she may be intolerant it's more that the nature of MSG is a flovor enhancer that also enhances all other receptors apart from taste. This may include brain nueroceptors and enhance your susceptability to all allergens and irritants that would not be a problem without the MSG. I have not researched extensively... -
Wholefoods have a list if gluten free products. Their 365 shower gel is gluten-free but not their shampoo. I found that out the hard way. However they do a Dessert Essence Organics brand shampoo and conditioner which is really nice, actually labelled Wheat Free and Gluten Free. Maybe they do other products, I haven't asked the store recently because I like...

ARCHIVED Negative Tests But I Have All The Symptoms?
Gwen B replied to lightening16's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Dear lighting and Peach, I sympathise with you both. I also feel the need for some medical confirmation but don't want the hassle of being sick again. My doctor also only ordered a tTg test and believes it to rule out celiac. I can't even seem to get a face to face visit (HMO). My husband thinks it is just soy because that is what I tested posative... -

ARCHIVED Need Relief From Bloating And Gas Please
Gwen B replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I took a Zantac 150 yesterday evening but it didn't get rid of the bloated feeling entirely. I woke this am slightly better but afraid to eat breakfast until 10.30 despite being really hungry and now feel really bloated again. I am trying a soy free day (already gluten-free 2months, lacotose free 1 month, cassein free 3 weeks). Do probiotics help or hinder... -
OOPs! I guess I'll get new boards and spoons too. This is just such a pain convincing my family to comply and I don't even know for sure if I have celiac. Many indicators point that way- family history, deteriorating gastirc issues, feeling better on this Gluten-free Casein-free diet but then I had a weird restaurant allergy incident (severe hives) and...

Surely not. My husband is rolling his eyes like I have become parraonoid about CC. However after feeling better the first month but this last week I have been plagued with less definitive but still uncomfortable stomach gas and bloating. I don't know why but maybe it is all the home cooking we have been doing. I still strain my gluten-free pasta in the same...

ARCHIVED Need Relief From Bloating And Gas Please
Gwen B replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been feeling less well this second month gluten-free. Same problem. I'm becoming almost parranoid about CC and suspect products and I'm just off to Wholefoods to get gluten-free shampoo and toothpaste in case it's they have been bothering me. I also have recently realised that the soy in Burts Bees lipsalve now makes my lips swell and sting so I wonder... -
ARCHIVED Don't Know What To Say Anymore Now That I Am Gluten/dairy And Soy Free
Gwen B replied to Sarah8793's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also like to appease the host, who probably would like to feel that they want to look after you by providing you with something as a only a good host does. I also avoid going into detail, saying that I am a little food challenged. I try to steer them onto the posative aspect of the guest/host relationship by requesting something I can have, like friut... -
ARCHIVED Blood Testing While Gluten Free
Gwen B replied to Tranquillity's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
May be but usually it just furs my mouth up if I drink soy milk. I've had soy yogurt several times since and not had a reaction. I was told that heating/cooking soy milk might destroy the protein to which I react. May be there was the combination of wheat and soy which triggered soy. I definately felt bad afterward like I have done in the past when I... -
ARCHIVED Help! Can Anyone Make Heads Or Tails Of This?
Gwen B replied to Dandelion's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
this makes sense. I have been wondering why I was getting worse by using lip salves containing tocopherol or tocopherol acetate. I maybe developing a wheat allergy but I know that I have a topical reaction to soy which is why the lipsalves don't work only make my lips sting and burn. Does anyone know of any salves or lipsticks that don't contain these ingredients... -
ARCHIVED Hives & Accidental Gluten Ingestion
Gwen B replied to Gwen B's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the info. I now have an epi-pen and am summoning up the courage to bug my doctor again about the allergy. I feel somewhat let down by their indifference and hate going back to the docs with yet another complaint! After all they gave me one blood test for celiac and a skin test for the allergies and they were both negative for wheat! I am supposed... -

ARCHIVED Hives & Accidental Gluten Ingestion
Gwen B replied to Gwen B's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have eaten soy yogurt since the hive incident and not suffered anything but a little gas. I'm already doing gluten-free, lactose and cassein, I'm not sure I want to add to the list! The allergist said that the soy protein that affects me when I drink soy milk may be destryed by heating and therefore inoccuous when eaten as cooked food. Is soy yogurt heated...
