  1. Yes, now that you've had all the tests, you are free to experiment yourself. Many people are negative on tests but still feel loads better not eating gluten. You dont need your doctor's permission to avoid gluten! Try to keep it simple at first - eat a lot of roast meat w potatoes, or simple veggies with rice (be careful w stir fries as most soy sauce...
  2. Ursa, sorry about the depressing results AND the reaction from your daughter. I know its hard when your family isnt supportive. Good luck getting some relief!
  3. I dropped both dairy and gluten at the same time, because i had been dx'd as allergic to both as an infant. My celiac panel was negative, but my allergy test was positive My stomach was better in days, my headaches left a few weeks later, my mood and energy continues to rise (when my yeast isnt flaring up) Oh, i used to have D from only high-fat milk...
  4. I am pretty sure you can have allergies without leaky gut. after all, hayfever is an allergy. Some allergies seem to be inborn - you can be allergic to foods you've never eaten. Leaky gut starts to be a suspect if you have a large number of allergies, or if the allergies are increasing. THats my understanding, at least.
  5. I think of it as a mexican version of subway. Its that kind of assembly line. You cannot eat the burrito, but I believe you can have the crunchy taco shell, or you can get the bowl w no shell. (I havent actually gone out since i went off gluten either) You can choose rice (or no rice - too much starch for me), what kind of meat (or black beans instead...
  6. Just to add 5 more cents . .. the celiac gene says you could have celiac. however, you can have the genes and have lots of negative reactions to gluten, but if your body hasnt gone so far as to destroy parts of your intestinal tract, you dont have celiac. However, if you keep eating gluten, you could eventually develop full blown celiac, esp if there...
  7. Just a note, not all celiacs can handle oats, and most supermarket oats are cross contaminated. Be cautious!
  8. My neighbor's daugher wasnt dx'd for a long time, becuase the pediatricain kept saying, but celiac doesnt cause vomitting. She finally got a positive blood test and was told she couldnt get the biopsy for 3 weeks . .. and then that weekend, she had to take her daughter to the ER for dehydration AGAIN . . .and insisted she wouldnt leave the hospital until...
  9. Thats funny, the tostadas were one of my favorites. But hey, check out Chipotles - Open Original Shared Link scroll down and they say exactly what you cant eat if you are avoiding gluten - and its a very short list. You can eat most of what they serve.
  10. Sometimes you just have to change your diet a bit (ok, a lot), if you need to avoid so many different foods. it woudl also help to know how you are using them. For a dip, avacado is a good sub for sour cream. In baking, you could use some soured rice milk but smaller quantity, and try adding apple sauce. Cottage cheese . . .dont ask me, its certainly...
  11. I went gluten free several weeks before my celiac panel, and it was negative, but my allergy test showed up most gluten grains as well as yeast. I dont know if i have celiac, but I know that i felt SO much better off of gluten - plus i was id'd as allergic to wheat and milk as an infant (by diet challenge). I'm pretty sure i'll stay off gluten for every...
  12. I generally get sores in my mouth from eating fresh pineapple, and it showed up on my allergy test.
  13. Just another option, I posted a recipe here on this forum for cereal bars - very flexible recipe. I make different ones for me and for my son - mine has millet cereal and raisins and sunflowers - his has corn cereal and peanuts and peanut butter and coconut and marshmallows! Open Original Shared Link
  14. I've used plain (lightly seasoned corn meal - which is a very light coating. I've used corn flakes and corn bread ground in the food processor - not bad, but better on fish, tho, imo. I've used veggie chips ground in the food processor - yummy but a slightly green color. Before i went gluten free, I was using half ritz and half cheez-its with a little...
  15. I finally got ahold of the doctor's office. He doesnt take my insurance ( not suprising). The receptionist said "No, he doesnt have very many patients who have candida . . .). But when I mentioned chelation (which i was pronouncing wrong) she was much more animated, explaining the process, the prices, etc. I"m not sure i want to pay out of pocket to see...
  16. There is some indication that exposing kids to allergy-prone foods too early can increase the likelyhood of allergy. While its true that celiac isnt an allergy, your baby has a good chance of developing celiac, since its genetic. Why would you WANT to risk that before age 1? Of course, i've also seen in here that exposing them before the age of 3 mo decreases...
  17. I've seen hemp milk in my hfs, but it sounded wierd . . . not sure why, its not like i havent eaten it before, sorta, in brownies I guess for me, tho, i'm allergic to almost everything, so trying anything new has to be done carefully.
  18. Cereal and milk - and throw some nuts in your cereal to increase the protien - or make sausage - i make a batch and have one piece in my grits every morning. Deviled eggs AND a pb or turkey sandwhich for lunch Cheese stick or on crackers for a snack between lunch and dinner Deer roast - and maybe mashed potatoes with milk in them? Or baked beans or mac...
  19. could be fat malabsorption?
  20. Remember to check the company websites - many now list which products are gluten free.
  21. ok, so . . i feel better. Maybe it was just a bug. Dont you hate that? You just never know what hits you sometimes . . . could have been a tomato, or a virus, or a glutening, or yeast, or sulfites ... ugg
  22. Wow, i just marked that on my amaz. wishlist - i am currently not eating anything which didnt test clean on my tests, and the only things I can bake with are corn, potato and millet - but the last time i made something with millet flour (cookies) the batter tasted great and the cookies tasted dreadfuly bitter. I see that the baked goods arent as nutritious...
  23. Well, thanks again for all the feedback. I dont think it was diflucan, but whatever it was, it only bothered me the first time, and after that it seemed like a miracle drug, clearing up both yeast and stomach symptoms. I read some about sulphites . .. pretty depressing, really. I"m on a totally limited diet, my son reacted to gluten and then to several...
  24. I remember that thread but i dont THINK you were responding to me. According to my A.L.C.A.T test, I am moderately reactive to sodium sulfite (which is in lemon juice, and I did see a reaction to bottled lemon juice but not to fresh) - but this coconut only has sodium metabisfulfite, which I did not react to on my test. Not to coconut either. All i know...
  25. omg, wasnt that great bread! My kids and i just LOVED it . . even tho mine fell a bit (hard to tell w foccacia). It also was not nearly as good the next day. And then i tested reactive to rice and tapioca and yeast . .. sigh . . Hopefully this wont break any copywrite laws since you already had the recipe . . 1.5 c flour mix a (below) 1 tsp xathan...
