  1. Thanks for that Rachel, I will have a good peruse of the info. I agree with Shay. Similarly, the problem over here is that yes, there may well be practitioners out there who, to a certain extent (no-one has all the knowledge and answers except God!) know what they are doing, but finding them is the problem. Whilst we have the NHS as a 'free' service...
  2. A colonic is only water Shay! A lot of water granted, but only water. The idea is to 'wash out' the inside of the colon and get rid of putrefactive and compacted matter along with any parasites and unwanted bacteria. A good colonicist should usually give you a good dose of probiotic cultures to repopulate the bowel. I've heard some good things about it...
  3. That last quote of yours was interesting Rachel about gut dysbiosis and SBBO - can I ask what the source was as I would like to read that in full? You may well be right about the dysbiosis. I had a lot of colds and URT infections as a child and was given the ubiquitous AB's in copious amounts so it would not be surprising if my gut is completely trashed...
  4. I do have an intolerance of salicylates - I can't take aspirin - so far I have coped with ibuprofen but I don't have to take it very often and avoid taking anything if I can help it. The salicylate thing was brought home to me last year when I did the alkalizing diet - I was eating a lot of veg - which on its own I may have been able to cope with but I...
  5. I have realised that a sluggish liver is behind a lot of my ongoing health issues. I know it has been sluggish for years and I kinda ignored it - as you do. The poor old liver doesn't get much press unfortunately - not nearly as much as it should and is largely ignored. The trouble is that a sluggish liver does not show up on normal medical tests....
  6. I have been on Insulin now for 5 years. Neither it nor the Metformin was getting my blood sugar down enough (waking BS typically 12, 13, or more). My doctor decided to try me on Byetta. Helped me lose weight which was great but mucked my stomach up something dreadful and appears to have triggered Celiac/GI. He took me off it after 3 months (I since...
  7. Me too! I don't actually mind that I can't see the adverts as unfortunately I can't eat most of the food that is advertised and seeing it just makes me even more depressed, but I do get annoyed at having to keep sliding the bar along every time I want to read a post. If the idea is that we can see the adverts when we are reading the posts, then if...

    ARCHIVED Enzymaid

Thanks Rachel, I'll try that. I'd cut down to just plain very bitter choc with no dairy - just a few squares a day and one or two cups of hot choc. I figured, what the heck, I've cut out everything else - let me have just ONE indulgence! Seems I might end up being denied that, too! Sigh.

    ARCHIVED Enzymaid

Thanks for that. I just still keep getting the 'pounding'. Not a fast heartbeat but just feeling it right through my whole body which suggests that I am just not digesting something properly or something is exacerbating an infection in there somewhere. I've been having a little soy cream in my hot choc (dairy free) but I don't think I am coping with that...

    ARCHIVED Enzymaid

Just wondered if anyone has tried this product. Although it can help in gluten digestion for non-Celiacs I am particularly interested in its Casein and Lactose digesting properties. Anyone know anything about it?
  11. The fact that you were well in Peru does suggest that it is something in your home diet that is causing the problem. I'll warrant that you weren't drinking pasteurised, homogenised milk over there. Have you tried dropping all dairy to see if it makes any difference? Can you outline what you eat at home? Although a bit time-consuming, it's good...
  12. I did get odd things with my left hand like it going numb if I was sat at the computer with my chin on my palm but other than that nothing really, until I went gluten-free. A few days after I started the diet I started getting numb hands and prickly feet. When I looked it up it seemed to equate to a few things - I bought some B12 but meanwhile had had...
  13. Apparently Epinephrine or Ephedrine is often one of the constiuents of Ecstasy tablets! Years a go I had a cold when we were on vacation. I bought a pack of Sudafed tablets and faithfully took some before bed each evening. I didn't sleep a wink all week! I was an absolute wreck by the end of the holiday. When I discovered the effects of the Pseudo...
  14. I have known that I was lactose intolerant for years but just tried to ignore it - I had got so used to the copious mucous! I discovered the Celiac/gluten link at the turn of the year and went gluten and dairy-free at the end of Jan, but although several problems cleared up immediately, not least the running diarrhea, it still took several weeks for my...
  15. Within 5 - 6 hours of dropping gluten and dairy my dreadful stomach pain and the raging diarrhea was gone. Within a week the bloating and residual discomfort had gone, but I still found that I was getting reactions and discomfort for a while. I thought it was due to the poor state of my gut, but I suddenly realised about 4 months in that I was probably...
  16. I've always hated the dentist. For years I have always had my fillings and work done without any painkiller as I figured the couple minutes of pain in the surgery was better than the agony for hours afterwards as the injection wore off! Maybe I was intolerant of the substance they used, but recently I had to have my first injection for years as the dentist...
  17. By the way, Tinea is a yeast associated with Candida. Cutting sugar and most carbs out of your diet will get it under control. Yeasts feed on sugars. Carbohydrates turn to glucose. Most people have Tinea it in some form or other - even athlete's foot is a form of it, Tinea Pedicularis, and dandruff can be caused by it, Tinea Capitis. Since adopting...
  18. I also am Diabetic with Celiac/GI. My body cannot, and never has been able to cope with carbohydrate. On top of that I need a lot of protein. I seem to be a Fast Oxidiser extreme Metabolic Protein Type. I have always known I need plenty of protein - if I don't get enough I get a headache, so I could never be vegetarian even if I wanted to. My body...
  19. Hi Shay, glad you decided not to leave! These dentists are a law unto themselves! My son had terrible problems with his - the bloke didn't do his work properly and the poor kid had to shell out nearly
  20. Hi Patti. Thank goodness your son has not had amalgam fillings. You've had teeth crack and break too. I broke one a few months back - I was eating some stoneless prunes and bit down on one - you guessed it! It had a bit of broken stone in it - and I ended up with a broken tooth! The back half of my tooth separated from the front. Wouldn't it be...
  21. I have had a lot of fillings over the years - I have managed to get away without false teeth but my mouth is full of the dreaded mercury (don't start Rachel!!) Weirdly though, I remember as a teenager that I could have a huge hole in my tooth but little or no pain (good excuse to hold off going to the dentist for as long as poss!). Even now I have a hole...
  22. Absolutely - took me 50 years to figure mine out! That's why I was able to get my daughter to take it more seriously for him.
  23. Rachel who has posted the previous post is a big promoter of the Candida problem and I do agree with her. I do think that Candida precipitates the leaky gut and that in turn is triggered by something, possibly lactose intolerance. So many lack the necessary enzymes to digest it that it is more than a co-incidence that these so-called 'auto-immune' diseases...
  24. Yes, I found that my severe stomach pain and the diarrhea settled down within a few hours and within a weeks most of the bloating and discomfort had gone, but it still took several weeks for my digestion to properly settle down. I had dropped dairy at the same time as the gluten as my digestion had all but collapsed and even though I was only eating...
  25. Have a look at the Pecanbread website. It has some great ideas for food for children who need to eat basic. It's aimed for children with ASD but the info is extremely useful for everyone. Don't worry about feeding your little one too much in the way of gluten-free baked and sweet stuff - I think the longer we hold off giving them the sugary stuff the...
