  1. What may be possible is to have sub-groups within the FI & LG section. I have seen that before on other sites. Then it might be better organised, perhaps groups for Food Intolerances, Candida and Leaky Gut, Parasites, and anything related or Miscellaneous. The reason why we have to keep repeating ourselves is because people don't want to have to...
  2. This is a difficult one as your little one may be trapped in a vicious cycle. Allergic and Intolerance responses usually happen due to Leaky Gut allowing undigested food particles through into the bloodstream. Leaky Gut happens because the body is out of balance and is suffering with a fungal (Candida) infestation. The only way to control Candida effectively...
  3. My oldest grandson is almost 7 and showed no real signs of gluten intolerance apart from an occasional stomach ache, until about 4 or 5 months ago when he started getting problems with messing himself (which I have just posted a new thread about). We may not have even considered GI/Celiac to be the problem except my digestion collapsed in Jan and I figured...
  4. Sarah, you don't know how glad I am to see your post. It is just Connor to a T! He is not much younger than Lucas - he will be 7 at the end of the month. It is terribly frustrating for him, and for his Mum who has to deal with it constantly. It would be bad enough under normal circumstances but when the poo smells like someone died it's just gross....
  5. Well they kind of do in the Food Intolerance and Leaky Gut Issues Section, Leaky Gut being a common by-product of Candida. There are many and varied threads on Candida in that section. Candida is not confined to Celiac disease, it is linked to many other diseases like Diabetes although it is quite likely that there is a gluten connection to both types ...
  6. To my knowledge he doesn't eat applesauce at all. He does like fruit and will eat an apple sometimes but I don't think it is an everyday occurrence although I will check with my daughter to see if he has apple at school every day for his break snack. I wasn't aware of apples causing a problem like that but we are all different so it might for some.
  7. Thanks - can I ask how old your daughter is please? We did wonder about soy, but I think my daughter needs to clean up his diet to make sure all gluten is eliminated before looking at other possibilities.
  8. Onestop is a small store - just a local shop, sometimes attached to a garage (gas station). Hi all, I'm from the UK, Wales actually, but I know Southampton well Harri, - am 'ampshire born and bred and still have relatives down there, in Basset, Sholing, Eling, Marchwood, Hythe, Romsey and Totton. I lived in Totton for some years as a child then the...
  9. I am an analyst - by nature, not by profession. I have an overwhelming need to know WHY! I collate information in my brain for use at a later date. One thing I have picked up on strongly from this forum is that this happens on a very regular basis. People either get a bit better but do not fully recover, or they get better but then go back down hill...
  10. My eldest grandson has been having a problem with his bowels for the last four or five months. The poor little love seems to be almost constantly messing himself and appears to have no control over it. It's not quite diarrhea but is soft and quite pale and sticky which could be indicative of Celiac. My daughter is trying to get him gluten-free although...
  11. Have a look at the Pecanbread website. It is a great resource for both adults and kids with gluten and other issues. It covers the Specific Carbohydrate Diet which is being used with great success helping kids with things like ADD and ASD (the SCD is also a success for a lot with stomach and bowel problems and has improved all sorts of health issues, even...
  12. How did the symptoms of gluten intolerance affect your day-to-day life? Fatigue, Insomnia, joint pains, IBS, bloating and gas, Candida, etc., etc. Dragging myself about and seeming to spend half my life on the toilet and the other half in bed. 2) How did you become aware of your intolerance to gluten or celiac disease? The wonderful world of the...

    ARCHIVED Help!

I have had digestive issues and I am an extreme protein metabolic type so my foods are also limited (although that is gradually improving since I have been following the right food choices for my type). I don't cope with carbs very well at all, and never have done. I tend to have rice cakes and either tinned mackerel, salmon or sardines for breakfast...
  14. I have had Candida problems for years but latterly it has been worse since I became diabetic 11 years ago. Sugar metabolism is obviously a problem for diabetics and the bacteria loves sugar. When my digestion finally collapsed in January and the docs could find nothing wrong I took matters into my own hands and dropped gluten, dairy, most carbs and sugar...
  15. Firstly, I have to say how refreshing it is to see your concern for your SD - so many experience problems, even with family members not taking it seriously. Well done. As far as the risk of CC is concerned it is difficult as flour dust can permeate all over. I would suggest that it may be advisable for the duration to place any flour and flour products...
  16. Thanks all for responding. Does anyone who is in control of all this actually read these posts I wonder? If not, I can't quite see the point of this section! If they are going to muck about with it, it would be nice if they added an ability to configure it yourself to your own equipment rather than all or nothing!
  17. Most people find they get a gamut of weird symptoms after going gluten-free. It is quite normal. Apparently gluten acts like an opioid in the brain and the body ends up going through withdrawal symptoms. The gluten also can mask other problems which show up after it is removed, usually due to malabsorption issues. I had weird symptoms after going gluten...
  18. Now there's a thing - a section for Celiac Dating????? I had the most terrible stomach pain for hours every time I ate - not acid reflux but I am sure I had a hernia. My stomach was crippled, probably with an ulcer or gastritis and the most horrendous gas and bloating all through my gut - the referral process was so slow my doctor hadn't got to...
  19. When I first used to visit the site the page would fit the screen with the adverts down each side. Suddenly a few months back the page was coming up wider then the screen with a slide button at the bottom. I'm not quite sure why it changed or what to do to get it to go back to fitting the screen. Was it changed to fit wide-screen monitors??? Not that...
  20. I used to get a really itchy tip of my nose! It would drive me mad! Sometimes it would just come on out of nowhere, I mean even when I hadn't eaten anything for ages. I have had it occasionally since but rarely. I got it a couple weeks ago - I hadn't eaten anything for at least 3 hours so what the heck triggered it I haven't a clue. Weird. I've had...
  21. The thing is - that works for you and if it is making you feel better then you have hit on what your body needs. You are right when you say that we have to do what is right for us. We are all totally individual and unique. What works for one will NOT work for another. Even if I stood on my head and did cartwheels I could NEVER be a vegan or a vegetarian...
  22. Oh yes - why is it that we are considered to be following a 'lifestyle' diet? I got really mad just now. I went into my local store for some more rice cakes. Within just a few weeks they have whopped up from 68p (around $1.40) to 98p ($2.00) per pack. That is an increase of nearly 50%! I rang the store head office. "I don't eat these polystyrene cakes...
  23. I get hungry when I haven't had enough protein and too much carbs. Carbs give you a quick pick up but then leave you in a slump. Protein and fats balance the blood sugar and help to keep the worms away! I have a theory that somehow the gluten blocks the body's normal responses. There may also be issues with Candida or other gut bacterial overgrowth...
  24. So true. Everyone gets lumped into one 'body' and the 'experts' act as if their latest 'discovery' should work for everyone, then can't figure out why it doesn't! The reason why certain foods don't work for everyone is because we are all different - and designed to eat differently. When I realised that I am an extreme metabolic 'protein' type, as I checked...
  25. If you have become that addicted to the ice-cream then you definitely have a problem, and I would say that it may well be to do with Candida. The sugar and carbohydrate feeds it and it actually makes you crave the foods it feeds on. Basically it is a parasite. The more you feed it the bigger it grows. I find that with carbs. I was reading the other...
