  1. It's great to hear that you are finding relief! As I recall you were diagnosed with Lupus, but were never tested for celiac disease. Given how great things are going for you on a gluten-free diet it's probably too late to worry about celiac disease screening at this point, but you could still get a genetic test for celiac disease if you are curious.
  2. You should not have any issues, but if there is a dirty shared microwave, toaster or toaster oven in your staff room, then you may want to avoid those. If you use a container to heat up food in a microwave then even a dirty one might still be ok.
  3. Carbonaut is made by the same company that makes Little Northern Bakehouse (a sponsor here), and I love all of Little Northern Bakehouse's products, due to their high fiber content.
  4. Welcome to the forum! I agree with @trents, and it is also very important to fully understand where gluten can hide, so this article might be helpful:
  5. I'm not sure if you've looked at bunion surgery, but this was the final solution for my wife's foot issues, which were also unrelated to any gluten issues.
  6. I hope you solved your mystery, because foot pain is the worst! My wife dealt with decades of pain in both her feet due to severe bunions, and finally had surgery to fix them. Let us know how it goes!
  7. I would side with your doctor at this point, and I agree that those without autoimmune issues to gluten should not have any positive antibody tests for it, and possibly even not have elevated, or barely below positive test results. It's strange to me that in the past ten years they have created a new "weak positive" zone for blood test results, but not a...
  8. Welcome to the forum! So each lab might have a different scale, as they may use a different company's test, and if I understand your email correctly, you had a tTG score of 19 and anything greater than 12 is considered positive, right? If this is the case, then it is a solid positive blood test result for celiac disease, and the tTG test is the...
  9. At this point you may have non-celiac gluten sensitivity, which some doctors believe to be a pre-celiac state, although there is a lot of debate about this among the medical community. In any case, if you have a single positive test for blood test celiac disease, and some or all of your symptoms go away when you go gluten-free, then your doctor is likely...
  10. I'm not sure about 6'2" @ 150 lbs. being an ideal weight, to me it seems at least 15 lbs. too low, even given the 1970's charts I grew up with.
  11. It seems like using gloves, and perhaps N95 masks, then washing off well after handing various gluten grains should keep you safe.
  12. Do you have a link to the original article? My concern is whether or not it might be copy right protected.
  13. For me I had to avoid tomatoes, chicken eggs (which I replaced with fresh duck eggs), corn and milk/casein. After a few years I was able to add them back to my diet.
  14. It's hard to tell from your description whether it might be DH, but it it isn't super itchy it's likely not. In any case, if the rash is related to gluten sensitivity it should improve on a gluten-free diet.
  15. In my case they are definitely related to undiagnosed celiac disease, no question about it. I had severe flattened villi by the time I was diagnosed, and severe malabsorption issues, so I suspect that vitamin and mineral deficiencies were triggering psychological and neurological issues. I also had gluten ataxia for decades, until I began seriously supplementing...
  16. It sounds like it could be dermatitis herpetiformis, which is the skin expression of celiac disease. Do you have tiny, clear, and very itchy blisters with it? If so, a dermatologist could do a skin biopsy to see if it is DH.
  17. It is definitely unusual for females to grow after age 14 or 15, but this seems to have happened in your case. Having celiac disease can stunt your growth, and treating it with a gluten-free diet can reverse this in many cases, but not all cases. It certainly could have helped in your case.
  18. Welcome to the forum, and I must say that your vivid description sounds just like what I went through when I was in my mid-20's, which led to my diagnosis. I also had several trips to the emergency room, and thought it was heart issues, but it was panic attacks, and I also had strong vertigo symptoms that came with it--like I was literally standing on the...
  19. Eating out is probably the single biggest risk for gluten contamination, so you may want to avoid this until you are fully recovered. If you must eat out you may want to consider using GliadinX (a sponsor here), which is an AN-PEP based enzyme that has been shown in many studies to break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches your...

Dear individuals with gluten-related disorders, dietitians, social workers, nurses, and physicians, Please join us for our All Things Celiac Webinar on April 26th from 12:30-1:30pm ET. "Unbalanced Eating: The Spectrum of Eating...
  21. If you are getting such immediate relief, then I fully understand your decision not to get tested. A positive celiac disease diagnosis might also subject you to higher private life and health insurance premiums. This article may help you stay 100% gluten-free, and let us know how it turns out!
  22. I would also like to mention that it is well known that iodine might trigger the DH rash in some people with DH. Iodine can be found in iodized salt, sea foods, seaweed, and dairy.
  23. I like Diavola Pizzeria and Coppola's Rustic, both in or near Geyserville, CA (If you are ever in wine country). Diavola's makes their gluten-free pizzas in a separate area of their wood fired pizza oven, and also prepare them in a separate area using separate ingredients. Both offer some vegetarian items. That said, I still take at least two capsules on...
