  1. Corn free is really hard, I have been doing it for a month now, and haven't had a trip to the ER yet in anaphalixis. It makes my stomach feel so much better in every way! I don't eat any processed foods, and there is a way to make corn free baking powder, not sure right now, but I will post the recipe when I get home from school. It's hard at first, but...
  2. Yeah against the Grain my mom bought when I was diagnosed, a long time ago. It is filled with stuff that is wrong, it was a good reference 15 years ago however. So is the Gluten Free Bible, not so good!
  3. I get it when I get casein, then in a couple of days it calms down, you should try elimintaing dairy and see if that helps, or see if you are getting CC anywhere or other products you use that could have gluten.
  4. You should be fine, but get your toher vitamin levels checked so you can make sure you don't have other vitamin deficiencies that could be causing the problem.
  5. I've learned many things, but what has been great for me is to help everyone else out. I am a pro at gluten-free and have been it all my life. I was actually the first person who responded to celiac3270's forst post, and now look at how many posts he has, it makes me feel great to have taught him the beginnings of celiac. I don't have as many posts because...
  6. Does anyone spike fevers just randomly even when you are not sick? Last week while at the Giants game I spiked a fever of 103.9 and ended up spending time at urgent care and they couldn't find anything wrong with me. Does anyone get this even with no other problems going on?
  7. For sure check your shampoo/conditioner because that can cause major problems. When I was diagnosed (as a baby) lost all my hair and took at least a year to have it kind of grow back, still took like 2-3 years to have normal hair again, but that was me being a baby.
  8. First of all Welcome to the board, it is very helpful and you can find some good resources. Lightheadeness can be a symptom of celiac, there can be so many symptoms of celiac disease. And lightheadesness can be one of a very common symptom of celiac. So can anemia. A 10 hemaglobin can be pretty low, mine got down to 7 and needed blood transfusions. ...
  9. I wish they didn't have corn, there is like no candy that I can have
  10. When I was younger (from 2-12) I was a vegetarian. This was extremely hard when I was growing and not really gaining weight or other stuff. It was hard to find good foods to eat for good calories and vitamins. I became so anemic that needed iron so badly that my parents made me eat meat. Both my sisters were still begetarian, and so is my mom. I really do...
  11. You could find the gluten free diet without the docs prescription and see if he feels better. That is sometimes the best diagnosis tool because you can see if he could possible be a celiac. If it doesn't help, then put him back on gluten and see if he gets worse. Just do some trials and errors and see what works and makes him feel better.
  12. I completely agree. Just good that you read the ingredients anyway. I am fortunate to have a pharmacist, who when she gets a prescripton in my name, immediately calls the company to make sure it is gluten-free/CF and then puts a note on it so if I come to pick it up when she is not working, then they know that it is gluten-free and I can have it. It is very...
  13. I don't know about that, but the one time i ate it i thought it taseted horrible. Could you have another sensitivity to another food that is just in that.
  14. For suusage we use Aidells, they say on the front if it is gluten-free, but you do kind of have to look for it it is in small writing on the bottom of the front and should say no gluten. My favorite is maple and bacon, which i am eating right now.

When I go to visit my sis, we go like 5 times w/in 1 week. It is so good, their website is www.risotteria.com According to their website it is "gluten free heaven" and i wholeheartedly agree...
  16. I hate boost soo much, I would not reccomend it at all. I drank like 5 cans a day this summer, not good at all!!!!!!!!!!! The salad bar would be good if you can get to it first, Do they have cooks there? If they do, you can talk to them, and they should be able to make you whatever you need. Maybe you could contact the people there and see what they have...
  17. I have both allergies and intolerances. They are differnt, and most people know if they have an allergy or intolerance, becasue it is easy to tell apart.
  18. This is from a celaic mom who lives in berkely. First off .....I have found my new gluten-free/DF haven. It is called 'Socca Oven', off of University in Berkeley - 1511 Shattuck Ave Open Original Shared Link. It is a take out place that serves gluten-free-DF chick-pea pizzas that are cooked in a wood oven. Oh my GOD ...what heaven. My friend...
  19. Soy flour is one of the gluten free flours, but there are others, I would suggest not to just use soy, but rice and other types too, to make it less soy-ey. most desserts do not taste like soy, and that might not be the best flavor of th dessert.
  20. i use skippy creamy all the time.
  21. You don't need to have diabetes do you? I would love to do this, I will e-mail her when I get home. Thanks!
  22. MANY flavors!!!!! soo yummy, but now I can't have them anymore
  23. That's pretty cool!
  24. Whey is milk, not wheat, they have the same 3 letters first, but they are in no way the same thing. Remember the rhyme, little miss muffet eating her curds and whey! (eating stuff like cottage cheese)
  25. I wouldn't do fast food, I would just stop at walmart once you have exhausted your cooler supply, and then pacl it up again when you stop at the store, you can also see if there is a whole foods on your way and get some food there too. Have fun!
