  1. Nothing to it. They have great mediation now. You won't mind at all. Some people feel a little discomfort the day after but nothing that should keep you home from work. My dh wanted to go shopping straight from having the test done. When I took my bf we went to lunch right afterwards. Be sure to keep eating gluten until your testing is done. Let us know how...
  2. My rule is I do not put any Holiday candy into my mouth before I check their website and their wrapper for ingredients. We like Snickers but a lot of the Holiday Snickers has wheat listed. Just to note, the new Snickers Fudge is gluten free. I called while in line at the store. lol
  3. Good point. A lot gluten free goods have xanthan gum which can have a laxative effect on people.
  4. I believe you have stated in previous posts that you have the genetic marker for celiac. That along with they symptoms should be enough to say you have celiac disease. How gluten free are you? Is your kitchen gluten free? All your personal care products, medications and supplements gluten free? Are you getting cross contaminated? Remember just a crumb...
  5. My theory is the items causing the problems are genetically engineered. Our bodies do not know how to process these altered foods. I think this is why there is such a rise in this disease. I am not saying all celiacs react because of this. I think if you have the gene for celiac, you would react even if the food was not altered. More and more people are...
  6. I am so glad you sent that letter!
  7. When getting the appointment with the dietitian make you sure say you want one who is a specialist in Celiac Disease. Will make all the difference in the world. Does not matter if it's not close to you, it's worth the drive. I drive two hours to Mayo Clinic. First dietitian was a cardiac dietitian. I thought I'd just ask her about the gluten free issues....
  8. Be sure to contact your hotel. Let them know now that you are gluten free. They may be able to help you find places to eat. Europe is way ahead of the USA in being gluten free. Contact the Gay Games event planners, they may already have a list of gluten free places. If not, they should! Let them know this is needed. Are you just attending the games or...
  9. 40 days and 40 nights gluten free! Good job! My first thought. From the looks of what you listed I'd say it could be a dairy issue. First you haven't been gluten free long enough for your intestines to heal. Dairy and soy can irritate the intestines. I suggest you avoid them for a few months until you heal more. Corn can also be an issue with many Celiacs...
  10. This is a good lesson about falling off the wagon. It's not a problem, just get back on. Examine why you ate something that you were pretty sure was not gluten free. There are celiacs everywhere and gluten free food everywhere in the world. All unprocessed meats and veggies are gluten free. You also may have to give up dairy (and sometimes soy) for a few...
  11. I eat before I go, bring food if asked and explain to them I here to enjoy the friendship and company more than the food. I do explain I'm unable to eat gluten and become very sick if I eat it. I have asked for recipes of items that the hostess or guests have brought that look good so I can make it at home with gluten free items. If pressed further I have...
  12. I also do weekly B12 shots.
  13. I do not believe there is an age limit.
  14. Even with being gluten free as long as I have been I can not tolerate oats. Not even the extremely expensive gluten free ones.
  15. Just how gluten free are you? Look at medications, supplements, drinks, toothpaste and other personal care products. Is your kitchen gluten free or are you getting cross contaminated? Using the same plastic ware, wood bread board and toaster could mean you are still getting glutened. Even a little bit of gluten will hold you back from healing.
  16. If you are weak and just starting out I suggest a Wii with one of the Wii Fit or Wii Sport games. It's nice to start out with, you can do it at home and work at your own level until you are up to a more active fitness plan.
  17. I vote for the Kitchenaid mixer! I also have the Vitamix, love it too.
  18. I'm going the the restaurant on this. Even if providing free meeting space most businesses expect the people to order. If you are holding the meetings to introduce people to the gluten free restaurant, they people should know they are expected to order something to show their thanks to the restaurant. Since this was the third time you were there I can understand...
  19. We were to Mayo Clinic in Rochester last week. They wanted us to be sure our medications and supplements were gluten free. I received this list: NOT certified gluten free: Centrum--all One A Day May contain trace amounts of gluten: Geritol Complete and Extend Unicap-all Gluten Free: Geritol Tonic Health Market-all Target Brand Multivitamin...
  20. Challah At my local natural foods store I was offered a loaf of Challah bread from Katz. Another excellent bread that I would put in the same category as Udi's. I ate a slice with just butter, not toasted. I may become a bread fan yet. I'll let the store manager know I liked it and would like to see some more of their products. katzglutenfree dot com
  21. Jason, This female sees more of you than just your shell and the protective layer you have laid down around you. Go slow with what you are comfortable with doing. She does not see you in the way you see yourself.
  22. I've had good luck with Vanicream soap and lotion. When I called them to ask about gluten they offered to mail me samples. My local Wal-Mart carries it in their Pharmacy, all I have to do is ask for it. I use a liquid soap for my laundry and vinegar, like you do for fabric softener. vanicream: psico dot com
  23. Bi-Aglut pasta (I order online) Against the Grain; baguettes and pizza crust Grandma Ferdon's products (if you are in their shipping area) Schar crackers Udi's bread for sandwiches, most excellent
  24. Stay away from people right now. lol Keep a food journal to pin point if it's something you are eating that is causing this problem. Could he a hidden source of gluten or another food you need to avoid. Check drinks, medications and person care products. Now it a time when SAD can really be a problem. Do you need more sunlight?
  25. My ds use to have recurring ear infections so bad his ear drums would rupture. Finally saw a specialist who suggest we remove all dairy from his diet. Cleared it up. You could try that if you are not already dairy free. Wish I had a magic wand for you!
