  1. Welcome to our group, Rose! We're a fun (well, okay, wacky is more like it.....) bunch here, and you'll find all the support you need right here! Karen
  2. I hope it doesn't have a ripple effect....... What if the companies who currently are supplying the gluten free market (foods, bread, etc.) decide it's just too risky. What if they think that as soon as they "slip up" accidentally (for instance a contamination issue), they are going to get their asses sued into next week. They just won't think it's worth...
  3. Lollie, You just posted EXACTLY what I was going to post to debmidge. My first thought also was "I guess those people don't take their wedding vows seriously when the say "For better or for worse, in sickness and in health"..... Debmidge, that is alot that you have had to deal with. Hugs to ya. Karen
  4. Right now - no. Will make up my mind when I get more clear information. Karen - Canada
  5. Also, why do they bother having a section in their website for Press Releases? I have looked on both the Cdn and US websites and they haven't posted a press release since 2005. Nothing new for this year at all... You would think they would post a press release on there to make a statement.... Karen
  6. Gas-X Chewables have gluten in them, all flavours..... I confirmed that by phone up here in Canada, maybe it's different in the States, but this is the delphi list on it: GasX (Novartis) (800.452.0511) (v?=07/02) Softgels (gluten-free, contains corn and maltodextrin) Chewable Tablets (NOT gluten-free) I learned this out the hard way,...
  7. That does sound very confusing. Why would they specify corn for some starch and leave the others to just say "starch" or "food starch" unless it was other than corn starch? Very confusing...... Sounds like they really don't have a handle on things over there...... At least with Kraft (another big corporation, only THEY have their act together), if it...
  8. Sometimes, it gets so bad I feel like going to the hospital, but I have been through it enough times that I know I am going through hell, but it will pass....... I also used to be terrified it was something to do with my heart. With me, it starts with what feels like is gas trapped in between my shoulder blades in my back. After awhile, it moves up to...
  9. Gas-X helps alot. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE THE GELCAPS!!!! Chewable Gax-X contain gluten! Karen
  10. When I am glutened, my heating pad is my best friend...... Karen
  11. At that point, I would sneeze right on her and then say, "Oh, it's not a fad, it is a DISEASE, a very contagious DISEASE that is lifelong, never goes away, FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!! If you eat any bread whatsoever, it eats your intestines like ringworm." Then watch her go run to the bathroom to disinfect herself...... Just kidding. I would be fun...
  12. But I DID hear they are a good source of protein! Karen
  13. I'm gonna hurl again! Karen
  14. Oh my God, I'm gonna hurl...... Karen
  15. Lisa, Which Doritos was it? I know the cheesy ones have wheat, but from what I understand, the Ranch and the Dill Pickle ones are gluten free. Those are the ones up here in Canada anyway that are safe..... Hugs. Karen
  16. Richard, this is on delphi: Smirnoff Ice (diageo brands) (www.diageo.com) (02/02/05) USA: Smirnoff Ice (any variety) is a malted beverage and NOT gluten-free. CANADA, Smirnoff Ice (all varieties) is made with distilled vodka and is gluten-free Is that a flavoured one? I'm not sure, I use just plain Smirnoff Vodka...... Karen
  17. This is on delphi: Imodium AD Caplets (McNeil) (800.962.5357) (vs=09/14/02) is listed as gluten free. It does not list the chewable ones. Perhaps that is your culprit? I know I used to use the Chewable Gax-X tablets. I used to eat those things like candy for the gas and then I found out they contained gluten the whole time!!! The gelcaps are...
  18. Hi Squall, I use the Fleishmann's margarine that is also lactose free. It comes in a package of two containers..... Karen
  19. It does get confusing. There's lactose free, then there's lactose/casien free. (those are the LF/CF short forms we see in the posts throughout the forum.....) Karen
  20. Hi Fritzicurls, When you reply to an e-mail on the board, it doesn't automatically keep a copy of your reply in your sent folder. If you scroll down further in the reply function, you will see a box that says "Keep a copy of this e-mail in your sent folder" . If you click that, then a copy is then kept in the sent folder.... Hope this helps! Karen
  21. This is on delphi list: Land o' Lakes Butter (vp=3/1/05) (800-328-9680) Their butter is gluten free. They will not verify that the light butter is gluten free because the ingredients come from a number of outside sources. Land O Lakes (800-328-4155) (ve=11/24/03) (www.landolakes.com) All natural products such as natural cheese, butter and milk...
  22. When I was having difficulty with lactose at the beginning, I used Natrel Lactose-Free milk. It tasted EXACTLY like the real thing, not the sugary taste the other ones had. Pricey, though....... Karen
  23. Hi! Welcome to the board! I can understand your fear. There were a few times when my body was in such pain that I thought that my days were indeed numbered and cried because I was certain I wouldn't be around to see my children grow. I can remember sitting on the stairs, bent over in excrutiating pain, thinking the end was near. Gluten not only messes...
  24. In a way, I am kind of envious of you guys down in the U.S. You now have this new law that is going to make corporations "come clean", and you will learn the truth eventually. Up here in Canada, there are no such laws, and we are stuck with their word only.... To trust or not to trust, that is the question...... Hugs! Karen
