  2. I had bob's redmill gluten-free oats. 2 times. same reaction both times- cramping- watery yellow D ALL DAY!(sorry for the graphic)
  3. Not to add more graphic stuff here. I dunno if I ever had leaky gut, but when I was younger I used to see undigested pasta in my stools!! I told my parents....they didnt believe me.
  4. thanks for the responses. I don't know what it is for sure. I never had a problem with all of this stuff, it just seemed like all of sudden I started getting nausea after eating certain things. I have looked into the SCD, but I think I may look closer and give it a try. I also think I have some wacked out hormones (it could be causing it) but then certain...
  5. Planning ahead is definitly the key. I also pre-think/make ALL of my meals. and if I am in a situation where I wont be able to make something I make sure to find out where I will be able to buy something or order something gluten-free. It is a pain b/c it takes extra time, but it is worth taking the extra time BEFORE the situation arises where your extra...
  6. O.K, so as of now I definitly know that GLUTEN and SOY are out of the question for me. Nightshades, dairy, corn, potato and a few others I am still experimenting with....staying away from nightshads/dairy the most!! I started gettting new symptoms about a month ago where fruit/sugar and higher carb things would make me naucious....like wanting to puke...
  7. no prob. that was actually my situation- I was in college and had insurance issues.....OMG insurance sux!!!!
  8. If you have the money to get tested DO IT. I personally never got tested because of my insurance/financial situation 1 1/2 yrs ago. It would be nice to know if I have celiac just for the point of telling my family how strict i need to follow the gluten-free diet. I follow it very strictly now because I find that I get sick from cross contamination, but it...
  9. OMG! I went to a small college. I did an article on celiac disease and college students. At my school there were only 2 confirmed celiacs that the food manager knew of. He said that they wouldn't be able to take the meal plan off the contract, but they did have differant meal plan options and made accomodations such as : A sepate toaster/mini fridge away...
  10. I defintly agree with your view on the article. I actually thought it wasn't that bad the first time I read it through...but I do think he could've wrote it in more of a way that you are writing with the questioning of "why" and then look at the possibilities....
  11. Just thought I would mention if you want to get tested you should be on a diet that contains gluten, otherwise the anibodies wont show up in the bloodwork! I went gluten free BEFORE going to the doctor to get tested...I'm wishing I could re-wind time now!!!! good luck with everything!
  12. how do they test for food allergies??....my friend had some testing done for some allergies and said it involed needles and skin poking...all over the back -eeeek!
  13. I was thnking today.....does anyone else get fed up with trying to explain to people other food issues along with gluten?- so much that you don't even bother to explain after a while? People just don't understand how all these foods that I ate on a regular basis before are bothering me now....I almost feel like typing an explanation up, making copies and...
  14. Thanks! yes, I'm well aware of what nighshades are, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, and a few others....even paprika bothers me sometimes-ugh. I make sure any grain I eat is labled gluten-free, but i dont eat them often. It's hit or miss with them bothering me... now my mom thinks that all my problems may be tied to something else...and that I...
  15. it may be a corn intolerance...I believe they use corn starch for it sometimes...
  16. so is my multi vitamin with iron and calcium worthless? lol I always wondered this since I am against taking pills for calium. I dont eat dairy but drink 2 servings of calcium enhanced OJ everyday.....and then I hear that citrus pulls calcium from the body.....so I pretty much give up....the only deficiency i've had recently was potassium.....and I eat tons...
  17. SOOO.... I was thinking how nice it would be to just be GLUTEN INTOLERANT. I never knew these other foods (dairy, soy, corn, nightshades, carrots, melon,pork...what else??) were also causing me problems. Small amounts of those foods SEEM to be O.K on occasion, but I'm really getting fed up with a limited diet of veggies, chicken and tuna. The other...
  18. hang in there. it does get better. When I first started the diet my immediate symptoms went away, but then I started feeling worse...very tired, wierd bm's, constipation off and on...etc.. It was kind of a up and down battle until my body evened out. I think its like a shock to the body immediatly removing something we've been eating for so long...kinda like...
  19. I was thinking to myself today.... I love watching shows on the travel channel like Bizzare Foods and No Reservations and often think how much I would love a job like that....travel, learn, eat and host a show! Wouldn't it be awesome to have a show where the host travels all over the world to discover and taste gluten free dishes ?( and other allergens...
  20. the last time a tried ketchup it bothered me, but that was ayear ago. plain vinegar as long as its not balsamic I'm fine with, I dunno about mustard, I never use it but i could give it a try. I know I'm sensitive to tomatoes, but it doesnt happen all the time...sometimes I cant stand my body!! lol thanks!!!
  21. O.K I know that kraft will clearly label wheat, rye, barley...but is there anyone who has had a reaction to thier bbq sauce??? I have been staying away from sauces for about a year and decided to try it again yesterday...well I had cramping and D today...I never get D anymore unless I''m glutened or some other irritant... That was the only thing differant...
  22. I have had a horrible reaction to gluten-free oats. Not to be too descriptive, but basically the whole day after was cramping and yellow D non stop....
  23. "we advise everyone to avoid wheat grass if you are gluten free or wheat free just so we don't add to any confusion." Just thought I'd add : then why label the product gluten-free??? AHHH!!! lol
  24. SOOOOOO. I was really excited when I saw these hard candies by "Yummy Earth." The back says "gluten free, wheat free, GMO free ..etc.. etc" I was eating them and then looked at the ingredients and the bottom of the list that says after natural flavors, "May contain organic wheat grass". I looked on the web site and found out what they had to say since...
