  1. it's a combination of being trained by schools run by pharmaceutical companies.. but also not being trained in every specialty. she's a GP- so, she's not gonna know every detail of every area... my GP is the same way. just the other week my Gyno told me that it was completely okay for me to go on Orthocyclen even tho im on Synthroid... and this week i asked...
  2. 1st off let me say- that my DH was very small & insignificant- it didnt even show up untill my 3rd week of being gluten free- just a small patch on my stomach like 1 1/2 square inch... i read about people taking Dapsone, but i HATE antibiotics... so i thought to try my ionized silver ointment (a natural antibiotic)- it took the itch away immediately-...
  3. even tho, technically "gluten" from wheat, rye, and barley is the only thing that destroys the villi in those with Celiac-> i TOTALLY have read and believe that countless intolerances (especially dairy & corn/other grains) for SOME people could aggravate the intestines to where they can't heal properly. idk... just a thought. Also- ive read that...
  4. my personal opinion is that our cycles are kind of "set in stone" like 1 or 2 months prior- so if you've only been gluten-free for 3 weeks- you may not have a better period untill maybe your 3rd period in. did that make sense??? because ive always read, and experienced- that any diet changes or exercise changes, etc... The Pill,... or alcohol, etc... it usually...
  5. ok, just googled. Sweet Potatoes have Mannose which is a really good sugar- also known as D-Mannose- good for binding up gluten AND bacteria that cause UTIs. so, i honestly dont know if i was confusing it with mannitol. ?? but ya, 50% of the time im fine with them, and 50% of the time- its too much ... starch? fructose? im not sure.
  6. all your numbers are pretty negative for celiac and hypothyroid... BUT.. it doesnt mean you dont have gluten intolerance or hashimoto's... seriously- if you feel better OFF gluten- then DO IT- these tests are such a mystery sometimes- and i read an article about a new test involving GLO or something??? they did a test on children- and learned that their...
  7. no not neccesarily- according to the Celiac center at Columbia University- 5 out of 6 Celiacs have no gut symptoms at all. plus- weight loss & "d" are known as classic symptoms- while many of us on here had "c" and weight gain. i REALLY think my Dad has it- and he NEVER has stomach issues- EVER. but he has had Psoraisis for years- and anxiety. both...
  8. iga for what tho? Tissue Transglutamase? or Anti-gliadin? also if you're Iga deficient- they would need to test for Igg and yes- false positives are common- about 20%... esp. if you're iga deficient or if you havent been eating enough gluten prior to testing. my ttg iga was VERY LOW.. and my antigliadin was negative. there's a lot more...
  9. dr keiser: interesting... I def have a fructose problem. But only in the last 10-12 years.. I can usually eat a half ripe banana no problem.. So im not sure what happened today. But maybe i also have what u mentioned because i learned very quickly over 20 years ago that i cannot ea a banana by itself or i will vomit, but if i eat something with it i a...
  10. i cant read your results on my phone. Will try to remember tomorrow. Are you on meds for the hashimotos?? If yes- what kind and how long? It may need tweeking. I just saw my endo for the 2nd time today- and we're actually changing up my meds for the 4th time. And how long have u been gluten free?? Sometimes it can take some time to really feel better. ...
  11. sounds like it... and it's "classically symmetrical" but not always..
  12. INTERESTING!!!!! i wonder if thats why i mostly do not have a problem with maple syrup!! now sweet potatoes, it's hit or miss... before i heard anything about fructose at all- i was suspecting - is it Mannose or Mannitol? one of those i think is also in sweet potatoes... hhmmm
  13. ya, ive got issues with Fructose Malabsorption- TWO bananas would kill me too.... im still trying to test my limits with certain fruits and veggies- because ive got to get some nutrition... just today, i had a green smoothie- (with banana)- only drank 1/2 of it- and hours later- im still in crampy pain-trying to ignore it and have anormal life
  14. why do you think you dont have Celiac?? the itchy bumps suspiciously sound like DH... my DH didnt first show up untill a few weeks after i went gluten free... the antibodies can stay active FOREVER... mine took 4 months to go away. also- Psoraisis is almost always related to gluten
  15. oh, i dont know anything about the salt stuff & the pituitary... i DO know that people who'se thyroid isnt working right may crave ridiculous amounts of salt- as i do... in fact ive actually been ABUSING salt since ive been on meds... not sure why. what else- i actually went to my Endo today- and she is fantastic. i asked her about yours & my bff...
  16. OMG, i canNOT believe you typed: "p%$#@# rash" LOL
  17. interesting... i havent had any luck giving up dairy yet- but i know i would feel better! hhmmmm also with your last symptoms- make sure you're also getting screened for Diabetes 1 & Sjorgens
  18. hey! ya, ive had heart palpitations on & off for at least 6 or 7 years... it did improve slightly going gluten free- but it wasnt till i was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Hypothyroid and put on meds- did i realize that palpitations is a symptom of Hypo OR Hyper- when they first put me on Synthroid- my palpitations got worse- now im on Synthroid (T4) &...
  19. ive had panic attacks, anxiety, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, panic under exercise or work, etc over the last 6 years-> i had all the EKG stuff done, breathing tests, etc.. i was guessing for years- no asthma ive been to therapists, and been on paxil & xanax, etc, etc.. i knew i had a problem with wheat over the last 10 years- but...
  20. wow, ok... i am NO doc... but my best guess is that since your t3 & t4 "look" really good, and your TPO just recently went from low/in range up to 75-> it would be my guess that maybe your Hashimoto's JUST started- which would be great! it could mean very little medication and not YEARS of nondiagnosis & anxiety that i went thru. so wait, where...
  21. hey, i just replied on your other thread. im a little confused- so your doctor tested for TPO antibodies, but not a full Thyroid panel? im not an expert on how serious your number at 75 is. it's obviously out of range and indicates Hashimoto's. it is possible that some in the past have corrected this with Selenium and a Gluten free diet- BUT you REALLY...
  22. 1st- if you're only 85% off gluten- your symptoms may never improve... it's not always a cumulative effect, sometimes if they antibodies are awake- then they're active and causing damage either in the gut, skin, or in the brain. and yes- if you're going to get a biopsy done- you need to be eating like 4-6 slices of bread for 1-3 months. it's also quite...
  23. yes be careful!! that's why i refused effexor in the past- because my best friend had such a bad withdrawal period coming off it.
  24. ya- i really dont know anything about the numbers you posted. i only know that your TSH is good. im familiar with B12 numbers- but u didnt post those. yes, vitamin deficiencies are quite common in Celiacs- but not neccessarily indicitave. i agree you need the actual tests that the above poster posted. ALSO- you need to be eating enough gluten (4-6 slices...
