    ARCHIVED P.f. Chang's

i got glutened there once.... i still havent talked to the manager yet- but i will... because i want to continue eating there- its SO YUM... ive even gotten take out since the glutening and was fine.. it was a busy sunday- so maybe someone made a mistake, but normally they're very aware and helpful and delish!!! i agree- the Singapore Street Noodles are A...
  2. unless it's a celiac or thyroid panel, im no expert on labs... BUT.. your RBC count is below range- does that maybe suggest anemia??? Anemia is very common with gluten intolerance or Celiac.. hope your doc is on top of that. in aggreement with everyone else- it doesnt look like you have a complete Celiac panel. and you're DQ2 positive, but do u have ...
  3. not exactly sure... but i HAVE always heard that it can resemble Herpes (i imagine both Herpes, & Shingles).. that's where the name "Herpetiformis" came from.. the shingles (herpes zoster) pic on wikipedia looks fairly similar to the dh i had on my stomach
  4. u have a DQ8 and a DQ7. (that's their simply subtype name- which i understand better). the DQ8 is a Celiac-specific gene, doesnt necessarily mean u will have Celiac- but you definitely have a gene for it, so it's possible. (DQ2 is the other "specific" gene). your DQ7 is a "Gluten sensitive" gene... predisposes u to gluten sensitivity or intolerance...
  5. interesting... ya, i think the tsh test is not a good indicator honestly... it CAN be one of the indicators for the doctors as they are working out the dose... but tsh is not always indicative of the stage of the disease or how u feel. my TSH was 4.6 in 2004 or 2006.. but i honestly think it may have started when i was 8 or 9. i had a nail condition since...
  6. theoretically, it would be better to get iron infusions... but i dont know just how low u are... and i dont know how it affects nursing... so its best to ask your doctor
  7. u know- i actually use "glutened" when i talk about what might happen to me... but i DO use the word "contaminated" when i talk about the food itself... like when my mom accidentally put the leftover rice pasta in the same container with the spelt pasta- then i say- "ya, i cant eat it, cause the food could be contaminated"
  8. oh boy... yes i have celiac, hashimoto's, and graves'. its very common to have thyroid disorders & celiac simultaneously.. very common... or even other autoimmune disorders.. sometimes the same genes are involved with a predisposition. so why do u think your Hashimoto's is only in the early stages?? i too thought that maybe mine had only been about...

    ARCHIVED Diagnosed...now What?

um, yes... it is completely normal for your doctors not to explain anything to you. uh- we have all been there... i am STILL learning everything myself and asking for what tests to be run... and each time i discover a new vitamin deficiency- i have to get on here, or one of the thyroid forums im on just to figure out what i need to be taking. it's entirely...
  10. oh boy, these can be hard to answer- especially since you're breastfeeding- which i know nothing about. in my own personal experience- it seems to take quite some time to heal and to absorb correctly. ive been gluten free for just over a year now- and i am seriously supplementing. 6 months after going gluten free- my D tested at 26, ive been taking 4...
  11. i was having a lot of pain- severe muscle spasms... i couldnt wait to get home everyday from work- i would go straight to a BOILING hot bath to soothe the pain... id bring like 20oz freezing water to drink so i wouldnt dehydrate. everyday i did this- then i got up to taking muscle relaxers AND advil EVERYDAY.. finally got my vitamin D checked- and my level...
  12. dont worry so much about it. it's my understanding that a positive ANA points to an autoimmune disease or more. i had positive ANA by age 14 (or earlier)... because i had a butterfly rash on my face- they sent me to a Rheumy to test for Lupus. because my ANA was speckled- she also tested me for Sjorgens. i was never diagnosed with either.. and just left as...
  13. i say i got glutened... i heard it on here- and it stuck. my friends think it's pretty hilarious.. i like words that are kinda made up
  14. so, do u live in Italy?? or are u in America, but just of Italian descent? i have read that Italy is quite accomadating to Celiacs... America is pretty accomadating too- BUT it really depends on what part of the country you visit- some places are really great!, others are not. i imagine there are a lot of countries in Europe that are aware and do-able...
  15. i dont have evidence on how long you should do it, but i can share with u- that i went on a 2 week gluten challenge- and it apparently was not enough, as my celiac panel looked almost identical to the 1st panel i did before the challenge
  16. i was diagnosed with Hashi last October, and with Graves in January. i THINK i have had thyroid antibodies since i was 8 possibly. i believe i went years & maybe decades undiagnosed. i think having both masks the bigger symptoms so you dont suspect a thyroid problem. i ASSUME im Hashi dominant- as my TPO were 512, and my TSI were 233. plus at the time...
  17. well im not sure honestly. in 1996 (pre knowledge of gluten intolerance & paleo diets & celiac)- i had bloating/severe pain, etc in Japan... they first checked everything in my reproductive system (cause i had ovarian cyst in the past)- and did some kind of ultrasound on my colon & intestines? anyways they diagnosed me with Colitis and said to...
  18. i wonder why your doctor was so adamant on negating a link between celiac & vitamin D deficiency?????? sure it could just mean poor health- or you live somewhere with no sun... but it's very much linked to just about ANY Autoimmune Disease!!! Especially Celiac or Hashimoto's/Hypothyroid which often leave the patient with digestive issues & malabsorption...
  19. looking at all the stuff you posted above- in the whole thread- about suppressing the TSH, etc... 1st off- u do know that our doctors are fixated on the TSH- this is how they base our dosage.. at least most of them do- 2nd- what's your opinion on your advice above about suppressing the tsh to someone in my situation (Hashi & Graves)??? if...
  20. and like i said in the rest of my comment- many probably go undiagnosed because they dont know what it is.. and that even many dermatologists dont know what it is.
  21. i dont think u need a biopsy to prove it. many doctors will not believe it without a positive biopsy... but why let your body get to that much damage just to "prove" it. i have never had the biopsy, cause my insurance company wouldnt help cover it. i had a semi positive blood test, a positive gene test, and DH. that's enough for me. good luck with your...
  22. i got glutened at pf changs 1x i think it was an accident- a BIG accident. we actually went 3 times in one month cause it was so damn delicious!!! the first time was on a wednesday, not busy.. got the beef fried rice & singapore street noodles off the gluten-free menu- NO problem at all- perfectly fine. we went back that saturday- and were totally...
  23. i believe it's Finland where the diagnosis rate for Celiac is around 70%. that's certainly better than our 2 or 3 %. it's all about money really- and Big Pharma doesnt make money off us- that's why it's not a priority here. there's pros and cons to all the different "1st world" countries no doubt. and while im very proud of how America makes it possible for...
  24. all mental meds in general?? ive been depressed most of my life- now i know it may have been due to Hashimoto's Hypothyroid. i also have Grave's and have been suffering from Anxiety too. big stupid rollercoaster also have Celiac, obviously.... going gluten free did stabilize my mood SOMEWHAT... anyways: in my 20s i did Paxil for 1 year. it...
  25. i went to a Rheumy for 2 years too- when i was a teenager- for my elevated speckled ANA... just wanted to specify that it's just a marker for Autoimmune Disease.. not specifically Lupus. they thought i had lupus too- cause i had a butterfly rash, and the positive ANA. they also tested me for Sjorgens- i think because the way it looks- if it's speckled or...
