  1. I love Yaz. I have been on it for about 10 months now and it has made a huge difference in my monthly agony.
  2. I doubt I will do the biopsy. The diet is enough for me. I am happy where I am now. My allergist did the skin prick. I would have rather done it through blood testing but oh well. That's how that office does it. I do feel better now that I have an actually dx. I know that is lame but that's just how I am.
  3. I went to the dentist a few weeks ago and got ill afterwards. I figured I got glutenated somehow. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in getting glutenated at the dentist (not that I'm glad you got ill, but, glad you posted it).
  4. We must have the same doctor. When I went to mine to get tested for Celiac he wanted to give me an allergy persciption. One of my son's main symptoms was C. He never had D.
  5. I used to get them too but not anymore.
  6. The bad news is I am allergic to nothing. I guess that could be good news too but I was really hoping to find the last piece of the puzzle. No such luck. The good news is the allergist diagnosed me with gluten intolerance! I got my "real" dx! She said from the sound of my symptoms and the positive response from the diet plus my son's history that she...
  7. VioletBlue: Wow. Uh, Hmmm, okay. I really feel like you are either mocking me or think I am a total moron. I realize that irregular heartbeat can be caused by many things. It has gone away since I became gluten free which was the point of my original post. Most of my health problems have gone away since I eliminated gluten. You mentioned allergies...
  8. Thanks for all the tips! I can't wait to try all these new sides!
  9. That sounds like me. I would get very ill after eating 100% whole wheat pasta but could do regular white pasta okay. If I ate 100% whole wheat bread I would get sick but not so much with white bread. I also felt worse in the evening, after I ate dinner. About an hour after I would eat dinner I would have to RUN to the bathroom and that's where I camped...
  10. My bloodtest was negative desite having all the classic symptoms and a first degree relative with it (my son). I have had a very positive response from the diet.
  11. I love the Urgi Care doctor. He really listens. I have seen him ten times more than my regular jerk doctor, but he is not a family doctor. He is emergency care only. I have only seen my jerk doctor maybe three or four times in my life (he's been my doctor since I was 14 - I'm 33 now). When I told my mom I was making an appointment to see the jerk doctor...
  12. My family used to be junk food junkies. I can't cook so I always bought frozen, prepackaged stuff. A typical dinner for us would be Tyson chicken nuggets, Velveeta mac and cheese, and canned carrots or pizza delivery. We used to eat out all the time. Since my son's dx that has all changed. I am learning to cook. We still eat chicken nuggets and mac...
  13. We think exactly alike! I don't plan on ever giving my 11 month old gluten. She has never been sick. By the time my son was her age he was on his 5th ear infection. Gluten is nasty, nasty stuff.
  14. He said since the test was normal there was nothing to worry about. My doctor is not the greatest. He is the one who dx me with IBS in 1989 and he also blew me off when my Celiac test came back normal. I tried to change doctors after my Celiac test and the new office must have called the old office becuase the old office called me and asked me why I wanted...
  15. We like peanut butter on a corn tortilla wrapped around a banana, turkey slices wrapped around string cheese in a corn tortilla, bacon and roast beef in a corn tortilla, you can really put anything in a corn tortilla. My son likes mac and cheese in his thermos. He also likes hotdogs or pasta left over from the night before. Stax chips, Glutino crackers...
  16. I have had my heart feel like it is skipping a beat and then beat really hard for a minute. It used to happen all the time. I had to wear a heart monitor for 24 hours but the doctor found nothing unusual. Big surprise. I haven't experienced that feeling nearly as much now that I am gluten free.
  17. My family is at month 5 of living gluten free. I am running out of side dish ideas. My son is very picky. His idea of a great meal is cheeseburgers and french fries or BBQ chicken and mac and cheese. Does anyone have any kid friendly ideas about what to serve? We eat a lot of chicken and beef.
  18. Good article. I laughed out loud when the girl interviewed said her sister called Celiac an "in disease". At least it is calling attention to it and more people might get tested.
  19. What about Glutino crackers? Or, corn tortillas? You can put anything into a tortilla. My son likes a slice of turkey wrapped around string cheese. Bagels and cream cheese? Rice Chex? There are many gluten free cereals.
  20. Live2BWell - That is exactly how I feel right after I am sick with D, I am ravenous like I haven't eaten in days. It's such an odd feeling. Since I've been gluten free I haven't had that feeling. I have had D but I don't feel like I need to eat a horse afterwards. I wonder why that is?? Does anyone have input?
  21. I think my son is a wonderful success story. He has always had ear infections, probably one every other month since he was born. He had tubes twice and his adnoids removed but that didn't help. He has also always been a picky eater. He would eat a cracker all day, that's it. He started to fall off the growth charts when he was 3. He went from the 9...
  22. You can still eat brownies! Kinnikinnik makes really good brownies (they are frozen). Or, you can buy a mix and make them yourself. I haven't tried that yet but I'm sure someone can give you a suggestion on good brands. Talking about brownies makes me hungry for them......
  23. Celiac and gluten intolerance are pretty much the same thing just on different ends of a spectrum. Celiacs have villi damage and intolerant people don't, but could in the future. Just like darlindeb25 said, the way to solve both is to eat gluten free.
  24. ksymonds84 - I have been eating Diamond Nut Thins like crazy!!!! I wonder if that's what is making me so sick! I recently discovered them and liked them so much I bought three boxes! I eat them everyday. I am so glad you posted that. I will stop eating them and see if I feel better.
  25. Hi! Allergy testing won't tell you if you have Celiac but it can help in determining if other foods bother you. That is what I am doing on the 11th. KristaleeJane is right about Celiac testing. Make sure you are consuming enough gluten or you could end up a false negative (that's what happened to me).
