ARCHIVED To Test Or Not To Test..
Amyleigh0007 replied to Gina C.'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The heart palpitations stopped (who would have thought it could be related??) I used to have these too. They went away when I went gluten free. -
ARCHIVED School Problems
Amyleigh0007 replied to dandelionmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would change preschools, if that is possible. It's not a risk I would continue to take. Your daughter's health is in danger and it sounds like either the staff is too busy or not paying enough attention to help your daughter stay safe. -

Amyleigh0007 replied to SAHM2one's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips

ARCHIVED Day 6 gluten-free With A Few Questions...
Amyleigh0007 replied to Light's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My fatigue, headaches, and D were totally gone within a week. I lost my bloating within a month and I have lost 10 pounds (I had 10 stubborn pounds left over from my pregnancy last year- they just fell off after I went gluten free!). My son's leg cramps went away within a week. He started having "normal" BM's within a month. He has gained 10 pounds... -
ARCHIVED What Are Some Of The Side Effects When First Changing To Gluten Free?
Amyleigh0007 replied to Hollymomof4's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The first day my son went completely gluten free he had terrible D. It only lasted one day. -
ARCHIVED Having My Son Evaluated For Celiac Disease
Amyleigh0007 replied to mamaesq's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son's main symptom was slow growth. He gained 1 pound in one year (March 07-March 08). In March, when he was dx, he had just turned 8 and weighed 41 pounds. My husband and I are both small and for years and years everytime I would bring up my worries about my son's weight and height she would brush me off saying he has small parents (she actually did... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosed By A Gluten Free Diet Alone?
Amyleigh0007 replied to dizzygrinch's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My allergist dx me with gluten intolerance based on response to diet plus a few other factors. I don't know about a time frame but when I went completely gluten free I felt better within a few days and much, much better after a few weeks. I am certain gluten was causing my problems since I feel so much better. -
ARCHIVED Wikki Stix
Amyleigh0007 replied to Guhlia's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs

ARCHIVED How To Handle A Trip To The Salon?
Amyleigh0007 replied to ohsotired's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would bring my own and explain why. I actually have talked in depth about Celiac with my stylist and she is now gluten free. She said she has had stomach problems her entire life and going gluten free has helped her a lot. As we were talking about it the last time I was in, the lady next to us joined in the conversation saying she has wheat allergies... -
ARCHIVED So I Finally Got All The Results Back From My Testing...
Amyleigh0007 replied to Myrna's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A dx of IBS is very frustrating. I was dx when I was 14 but nothing helped except going gluten free. I would go totally gluten free, if I were you. If you aren't happy with your doctor try a different kind of doctor. I went to an allergist after my regular doctor pushed me aside. I was very surprised with how much she knew about Celiac. By going gluten... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Vs. Wheat Intolerance Vs. Celiac
Amyleigh0007 replied to nitu-752002's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son was tested for both Celiac and wheat allergy via bloodtests. The allergy blodtest is called RAST. He had the small bowel biopsy only after his Celiac bloodtest came back positive. Gluten intolerance is what you might have if your Celiac tests come back negative but you have a positive response to a gluten free diet. Don't take your daughter off... -
ARCHIVED Omg Heavenly Info On A Website
Amyleigh0007 replied to UndercoverAlien's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My son was getting ill from Frito Lay products so we got rid of them. We stick to Lays Stax and Mission chips. -
ARCHIVED Testing
Amyleigh0007 replied to mstrain's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My son's GI wanted to do another biopsy 4 months after his first biopsy. He said it was because he wanted to make sure gluten free was working and there weren't other issues going on (like my son's food allergies). I'm glad we did it because he discovered that Pepcid was not doing anything for my son's reflux and he put him on different meds. -
ARCHIVED Extreme Sleepiness
Amyleigh0007 replied to Beth in NC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes! I get very tired. If fact, once I had to call my husband who was out on the golf course, to come home so he could watch the kids. I was so tired and kept falling asleep. It was after a gluten challenge. I had been gluten free for about a month and I ate three chicken strips to test myself. I won't be testing myself again. -
ARCHIVED Ore-ida Steam N' Mash
Amyleigh0007 replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Is Gluten-Free on the label?? I love, love, love when companies do that! I will have to try those. -

My son did! His only GI symptom was terrible C. His other main symptoms were leg cramps and slow growth. -
ARCHIVED Mil Issues
Amyleigh0007 replied to Amyleigh0007's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
debmidge- My MIL is in her mid-sixties. She is very depressed. She has no friends or family that will speak to her. We are all she has besides my two brothers-in-law (and they think she is nuts too but she is their mom so they tolerate her behavior). I have suggested couseling to her many, many, many times but she will see someone once or twice then decide... -
ARCHIVED Mil Issues
Amyleigh0007 replied to Amyleigh0007's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I had a heart to heart with my husband and he has agreed to tell my MIL that she is not allowed to take our daughter anywhere but to his grandmas. We are to know where she is at all times. She will not get a car seat if she doesn't agree to this. I am so glad I posted my troubles and you all replied. Typing it all out and seeing it in black and white... -
ARCHIVED Mil Issues
Amyleigh0007 replied to Amyleigh0007's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thank you so much for your posts. I have been struggling with this situation for so long and have not talked about it except with my husband and mom. I really needed some outside opinions. I agree that she has no right to take my children anywhere w/o my permission but she doesn't see it that way. My husband will tell her it's okay and even though... -
My MIL is childish and has no common sense. I really need to vent. I am so stressed out because of her. I can't take her anymore. She is always at our house and she complains about everything; her health, the weather, her neighbers, the family. I am to the point where I can't stand to be around her. She will pick fights with me in front of my kids...

ARCHIVED I'm Confused
Amyleigh0007 replied to MollyBeth's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes! False negatives are common. Try the diet and see if you feel better. That will be your answer. -
ARCHIVED Really Sad... Testing Update
Amyleigh0007 replied to jayhawkmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I totally agree! I wouldn't either! If he is doing well on the gluten free diet then you have your answer. I wish I would have done that back when my son was first tested. -
ARCHIVED Constipation?
Amyleigh0007 replied to sarah1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes! My son had terrible C before he was dx. He would go once a week and it was awful. Now he has normal BM's, once a day. When I got rid of the gluten my skin cleared up. -
ARCHIVED How Fast Can gluten-free Work?
Amyleigh0007 replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It's hard for a young child to grasp the concept of "never" such as she will "never" eat her favorite foods again. As she gets older she will grow to realize that she won't be able to eat those foods but right now it's a concept she won't understand very well. I would focus on all the yummy foods she can eat right now and help her discover new favorites...
